What do you think about Halcion for calming nervous patients during extractions? I’m due to have my teeth removed in 3 days and am really nervous about the whole thing. I’m considering trying to come up with the extra money for actual surgery(about $600 more). Any thoughts?
Lots of doctors prescribe meds for surgery. It's really up to you and your surgeon. We don't Rx meds for nervous pts ... I just try to be super nice and do the EXT's quickly. I think most people, though, would prefer to be completely sedated for extractions (like full-mouth).
Everyone is different, I've seen patients with full mouth EXT's and no pain at all, and I've also seen patients in lots of pain. The majority of patients have pain that is manageable with IBU / Tylenol.
Every dentist has different fees. You can google fee information in a region / area though to get some idea of a ballpark range. Lots of time you get what you pay for, or at least that is how it should be if your dentist is being appropriate with cost etc. 🙂
They can last many years if the jaws don’t shrink too much. Most people, though, have to have the immediate replaced in a few years because their face and jaw changes after teeth are removed.
We are insurance independent and can send a claim on your behalf to standard dental insurance companies. We have many patients that have MediCare and MediCal but they typically pay for their care independently.
Hi, I just got my immediate dentures. I had my extractions a week ago. They feel very loose and hard and don’t fit in my mouth at all. With this change over time? I’m 34 years old I’m not sure if this helps. Thanks
The fit of your denture is highly dependent on the impression taken before the extractions AND the lab technician. Even when we work with the best partners and do the nicest impression we STILL can have a denture that is loose. Be sure to go back to your dentist. They will help re-fit your denture! Best of luck.
Hmmm - This was not my experience after having immediate dentures fitted almost 10 months ago. First of all having mulitiple teeth extracted in my case twenty two and both gum lines heavily stiched to close the gaping holes results in this most unimaginable pain and inflammation immediately the "immediate dentures" are applied . The pain decreases but lasts for weeks as does the inflammation. The logic behind slamming a tight fiited, hard surface denture against complelety raw wounds which are swelling is something I cannot (now) fathom nor recommed. After about six weeks and already two religns the dentures are basically useless because your once inflamed gums (from when the first impressions first taken) have shrunk very significantly the dentures simply fall out and will continue to do so unless you want to keep reigning them infinitum. Worst experience of my life.
My dentist did digital impressions for my immediate dentures. They said I don't need a wax rim or plate try in. Is that normal to not get some kind of try in . Figure without one they will fit even worse
Thanks for the comment. Digital dentures are all the rage and can be done well if the dentist is an experienced denture doctor. However the gold standard on high end dentures is to use traditional techniques (impressions, bite registration or Gothic arch tracing, try in and delivery). If your dentist is skipping these steps you may want to ask why. They should give you a satisfactory explanation.
That's how they made my immediate denture & it fit like a glove, I absolutely loved it. My permanent denture they did the old fashioned way & I swear it looks like Halloween costume teeth. They refused to fix or remake it so I wore my immediate for over 2 yrs.
You are wrong I just had this same procedure this morning. My teeth were in the same shape as his are they looked ok. If you look closely he is missing at least 3 teeth already and also has damage from him disease. I thought mine were ok until I saw the X-ray ☠️
Hello I’m interested in immediate dentures.
Great to hear, if you are in the northern California area let me know.

Was that person in any pain after the extraction and immediate dentures placed in?

How long do immediate dentures last?
