Paint only is best. Same colors as the ceiling or simply keep white. The fabric looks like a crafts project with the sole purpose of using up the left-over fabric rather than any deliberate plan of sophistication. You set the bar quite high with the amazing style you've already established in the hall and other rooms. Stay true to it.
Полностью с вами согласен! Для того чтобы подчеркнуть объём панели, достаточно изменить оттенок всей панели или отдельного элемента! А эти обрезки с картинками... это уже за гранью! 🤔
Paint them Instead no material.
Absolutely took the words right out of my mouth 😊😊. Ceiling color on the panels 👍🏻
I'm with @themainer1267 on this one. The fabric is too much. Stick with paint.
I like the "same colours as the ceiling" suggestion.
I like the shutters just painted.
Leave the panels blank, I think it would look too busy with the patterns
How about just painting the panels with the wall color and leaving the frame white? Sometimes just a subtle color contrast is enough.
I'd prefer a plain painted surface for the shutters
White shutters only. No material glued. Looks much better.
Let the other pieces in Hallway speak for themselves and do not overload, keep the shutters simple and just stay with the paint. Everything else is where you want your eyes to go to and are the statement pieces not the shutters. Staircase side painted white looks great and will really pop when those walls and risers are completed. Enjoy watching the transformation !!!!!!!
Amazing what a little paint does on the stairwell walls! No to the contrasting inserts, paint only!😊
Leave the shutters white
Don’t like the gold or wallpaper. Both are too much. Just trim the inside edge with gold and be done. Less is best and in good taste.
Oui, et ajouter un petit rideau (avec embrasse peut-être) similaire à celui qui existe devant la grande porte.
Félicitations pour le travail déjà accompli ! ❤
A painted line around the panels. It will give them a bit of interest without being so noticeable.
Fleur de Lis is always a nice stencil design. It’s crisp and quintessentially french
With the edge of the shutter, the panels aren’t centered and that throws it off. Good idea, but just doesn’t work there. 🤷🏼♀️
Don't bother adding anything to shutters. They're just shutters and spend most of their time tuck out of sight.
Just paint the shutters. I would put the fabric in the alcove that holds the shutters when they are open.
Totally agree!
Careful about filling floating panels. They need to move within the groove. They can crack because of shrinkage and then bloating with temp changes
It’s a flexible filler
Perhaps a raised stencil applied to the panels. I really think it would be suttle and at the same time very Chateau !
subtile
I love how the white paint is so uplifting. White creates a sense of purity, freshness and cleanliness. It makes the space feel more spacious and open. I agree with Adrian that it really makes the staircase pop. Well done Carol. I love watching the magical transformation take place. Bravo! Well done! ❤
The paint looks better than the wallpaper so far!
What about papering the wall behind the shutters on the side wall. When shutters are open, you don't see it till the shutters are closed. A little more subtle.
Keep it blank. It just doesn't look right with the old wallpaper cutouts.
The shutters, classically, would be painted/stained. Therefore, no to the material. Everything is looking so great. Thank yall for sharing your beautiful journey ❤️
To busy, I’d just paint the shutters.
Tip: Tubes of caulk, filler, etc. that don’t stop.
There should be a lever or something that you use to release the plunger before drawing the plunger back out to remove the tube. Just release it so it’s not pushing hard (you don’t have to back the plunger way out). With the pressure released, the contents stop coming out, or mostly stop, depending on the contents.
Yes that's right, but this particular filler, just keeps coming out!!!!
What about leaving the panels white but put the print/ fabric on the wall inside the cubby where the shutters go when put away.
Yes, I really like this idea too.
I had this same thought. A little surprise when you close up the window.
I agree with this suggestion.
Simple white paint😊! That staircase is going to be gorgeous! Its amazing how that white just transformed the whole space already! ❤
I'm looking forward to the Trompe l'Oeil Window in the stairwell. Thx for doing this, filming it and for sharing it with us. 👍👍👍👍👍
Our pleasure!
I would leave the panels painted. The hallway speaks for itself and is beautiful and elegant. xx
Play it up with paint. Don’t like the wallpaper or the fabric. The big gold square looks terrible unfortunately 😮
Nah, it looks gimmecky. I go with paint. Not everything has to be a show-stopper. Maybe paint the border to give it dimension.
PG Tips Love the idea of mural on the stairway . Not sure about shutters really perhaps less is more . 😂😂😂😂🙏🏻
No embellishments. Possibly add a second paint color, lightly darker
I liked the look of the panels with different scenes. I've never seen that before and it gives those shutters an interesting appeal. DA
I like painted white shutters. But I know that whatever you decide to do it will turn out beautiful.
Please, just painted panels
I think you should paint the shutters in 2 tones like you did the doors - it's subtle, but looks really nice. Maybe use darker tones for the shutters so they stand out more, as they don't get as much direct light?
Hello Carole I didn't like it when it was one but I liked the 3 much better. I am sure you are seeing what I see and that the white contrast of the white paint framing is too contrasting. If the shutters were painted the background colour of the toile or a shade lighter than the background colour of the toile would smooth it all together. In Chateaus I think there is no such thing as too much. You could add an additional faux finish of Mother of Pearl in the insets as long as it was elsewhere too.
Those small pieces would make nice Pictures with frames around them. The wood panels would look good with gold detailing around the panels
I done care for it-it looks like a bulletin board. One large panel, large scale, might work.
I hope you get to paint a lot more of the stairwell. That is going to look fabulous. I will brighten so much.
The inside window shudders would look elegant if the three center rectangles were painted the blue wall color with inset frames painted with a one line bead of gold outline ...BUT you have a masterful interior design talent bar none to decide if indeed it would look elegant!
Paint only on the shutter in the hallway. Add a magnificent, tall flower arrangement.
It was good to see the option with the Toile, even though it doesn't seem to be superior to just a painted surface. Of the two options, I do like the painted best. It just "works".
I say for the window, make something similar to what Terry put on his canopy after they hung curtains and paint it.
Paint with a gradient level of colors for the shutters. Make the illusion of depth using different paint colors. Stairwell is really looking nice. Good work, Carole.
I like the fabric because it is darker than the first sample. Just not on the shutters.
No I like the idea of just adding some other color on the inner strip 😊
Enjoy your videos so much😊
Thank you so much!!
My choice would be a two-tone paint job to add some depth to the panels, maybe with some gold trim highlights? I think you might have problems with panels falling off due to moisture or condensation issues. I am so excited to see the stairs finished. Absolutely love the idea of a mural of some type!
I would paint the higher outer parts with the darker paint and the inner light. So it's not a boring white. You may use that pearlish collor that was used on the doors also.
Leave the wallcovering panels OFF the window shutter, it's TOO MUCH!!
FYI "Bobèche": usually glass collar on a candle socket to catch drippings or on a candlestick or chandelier to hold suspended glass prisms. (FRENCH)
Keep the shutters painted😊
I think simply white/off-white with possibly some subtle gold detail around the panel edge work. My two 🪙’s. Carole’s decision will be best, it always is 😉
Add some same-color doodads similar to those on the chandelier ceiling. it will give it some dimension but be subdued.
I like just painted shutters, but I think the candelabra’s throw it off too. Keep trying different things and live with it a day or too then you will know when something feels just right.
Simply Paint the shutters and perhaps add another color or wallpaper on the area it folds over.
My vote would be to leave the wood shutters simply painted, but consider putting a full length fabric panel in the recessed interior alcove the shutter folds into for storage, so when the shutter is open you can't see the panel, but when the shutters are closed at night, the fabric panels would be visible.
Unfortunately it's not possible to put fabric within the shutter housing
is that because curtains need a pole and you cannot put them on the back of the shutter?@
@@caroljollymore7345 No, it's because of the locking mechanism , too hard to explain, maybe I'll put it in a video!!!
@ I have seen the mechanisms and can imagine it but if you want to show us I will be glad to see it. Gee I miss seeing you folks twice a week.
I say leave the shutters white, you can bling up the hardware if you must have something else done tho them but I think with the curtains and decor to come plain white shutters will be best.
The shutters just plain painted look alright to me. A possible feature on that back wall of the staircase is an interesting idea! The whole area looks so much brighter and open. I love the look of the white on the sides of the stair case too. It really highlights the gold work Carole's done.
Shutters white, hallway white, staircase white. Highlight the chandelier, light fixtures and beautiful stair railing. Finish what you started and move on to the kitchen.
That's what we are trying to do, working our way up the stairs
The salon and dining rooms are so dazzling, make the hallway elegantly simple so your guests feel WOWed when they enter those rooms.
Carry on! I love the panel
I don't like either of the options, but I like the idea of having some kind of panel embellishment there. Maybe just paint the panels a slightly darker shade of paint, an accent color being used elsewhere, and paint the void where the panel folds into the same color.
In this instance, less is certainly the way ahead.
I think if you painted the shutters a shade of blue that would be a mid to light tone, it would look better.
I’m at 13:36 & thinking 🤔- IMO, make these 3 small pieces of wallpaper into made-to-order passepartout frames. Gold frames of course!
In other words, save them and use for decoration. Not on the wall though! It somehow does not make sense on the wall - not sure why.
What you could do is paper or fabric on the wall behind the shutters rather than the panels on the shutters, the solid piece might look more cohesive rather than the 3 panels. I must admit I’m not keen on the 3 panels. The gold looked awful.
If you are having a mural for the stair case, how about the same idea for the shutters. Landscape like inserts with subtle colors, that make it feel as if the shutters are open.
Plain shutters for me. Otherwise it is overkill.
I can't decide without seeing the drapes or some fabric hung up.
Just white paint for the shutters. Simple snd pretty!!!
Great video. I have no decorating sense, however leave the shutters plain they look great painted.
No, I dont think the panels work with inserts. I think highlighting the panel edges with paint would be enough, either the blue/grey or gold
Another idea lol. You have me going. A rather larger antique drawer pull One of the dangling ones hanging from an ornate medallion with a finish of your choice. A glass pull on a gold medallion would look pretty. Hope you enjoy the suggestions. I love watching you guys work in your chateau. Happy New Year
What about leaving the shutters white but putting gold paint in the edges of inside panels. It would look like 3 tableau’s (white, trims gold, the center white)..I hope I wrote it understandably. So happy to see both of You…Happy New Year to all of You 😊
Paint only, I think. The simpler approach makes it look richer.
Maybe a cream paint in the squares and leave the panels white 2 tone affect
Panels: Historic photos of the chateau???
I would like the cloth panels if they had a thin gold frame,,,something to finish them off.
What about putting a small gold frame around them? The other thing that I don’t like is that one looks smaller than the other.
No to the fabric on the shutters. Stairwell wall is looking great!
Carole is an absolute workhorse! A very beautiful one!
She is 😊
The fabric covered panels need to be framed in half inch quarter round.
Paint only or lighter color panels. There's too much contrast between the dark blue and white. What about a decorative wood centerpiece for each panel? Adrian could paint it gold. 😅😅
Use your cream and blue on the shutters panels.
I do like the fabric on the panels. Toile is one of my favorite fabrics.
No print on shutters. Just follow tradition and only paint.
Yes that looks good!
I think the ceiling color would look great there. Give it just the right amount of depth but still keep it on the light side.
I like the pattern but it needs a narrow gold or dark trim around it
Looking forward to this … How is the sale going? (You are now dangerously near the 100.000 subscribers, wich you said was the limit for keeping it …👍🏻)
I know so close now!
I love the fabric panels
Oh, wait. I know. How about taking inspiration from the ceiling above the hallway chandelier. Don't you have 2 tones going on up there? As I recall, even the darker tone is soft. Try painting that soft darker tone on the inset panels.
Yes its Beautiful ❤
The good news is that I prefer the easiest option, plain paint! Have a great week!
I would probably just paint the shutters & alcove the same as the walls, but possibly add something to the window surround moulding? To add interest & depth for the window?🤗🤗🤗
The gold doesn’t work for me sorry
Why not try the two colors of paint you used on the ceiling? One on the trim, one on the inset.
Regarding Tall Stairwell Walls: Extendable ( or telescoping ) poles. They have threaded ends that take sanding heads for sandpaper and then unscrew that and screw on a paint roller. You can even screw or tape a brush on end for wall at ceiling. That keeps you on sound footing and safe.
I have one I used when sanding in that space, but still wasn't quite long enough!
Hi team - I think the shutter should be left plain.
Keep it simple. Paint looks better than the left over fabric. Could you possibly try the same colour on the insets as you painted on the walls?
