- We spent the end of 2023 painting. Karen made oyster shell ornaments featuring the château for family and friends. Bo painted gold accents on the living room trim. And Bo's daughter painted the balusters of our stone spiral staircase. Everything looks fresher and we had a lot of fun doing it.

Queen's Escape was inspired by the 4 years the Belgian royal family stayed at Château de La Tuilerie during WWII. In particular, it is for the Queen. The king took shelter at a different location in France. We've named each of our guest rooms after great Queens of the past and present from around the world. Margrethe, Eleanor, Catherine, Himiko, Cleopatra, and soon our bridal suite will be ready in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
With it's sprawling green meadows, 100-year-old trees, and historic location in the small medieval town of Gluges, the 200-year-old château is truly an escape. With 5 guest rooms to rent and a stunning Orangery, we look forward to welcoming you for a visit or to host your wedding or event.

I liked the glitter on the glue to make the glue slightly glitter as if sun hitting the snow. Painting these shells like you have is such a clever, creative personal gift. Love the gold and pearls, too!❤

Really love the hand painted oyster shells with the chateau and orangery! the sweet little pearls at the bottom of the shell.....very sweet! Love the pearly coating as well! The golden shells are quite pretty! I think they would be brilliant as napkin rings.....if you can find a gold ring to attach to the shell......either pearly side up or rough side up with gold! Just so pretty and unique! Cheers!

Carol at Chateau La Ferte just redid their staircase, which is very close to what yours looks like. She used the liquid gold to highlight the ornamentation on the railings.
I’ve had good accents for the stairs in my mind for about 6 months. Agree. It could be beautiful.

Lovely, your family & friends will be delighted, Suggestion for the hanging string glue it closer to the top of the shell, then it will hang good to see the art work. Oops I see you did farther into the vlog, love the Santas
It all looks amazing you can easily spray them with your acrylic paint clearcoat will capture your glitter and the backside as well so it doesn’t bang off can actually spray before and after on the backside I work with glitter a lot that helps me quite a bit. Carol at Chateau La Ferte has the same railings. Have a look at what she did with them. Hers are painted black and the little tops and bottom bits are painted in gilded gold. It’s worth a look. Enjoy, Vicki from Melbourne Australia

I would spray paint gold on the back, add pearls, paint an image of the chateau inside as you do, cover with the acrylic finish, add hole at the top with ribbon to make into a Xmas ornament. PP can buy them at a shop you can have in a nice small space. You can buy interesting small vintage items from the bocantes to sell, items you make, books, small portrait pictures, toys, household items, scarves etc etc reminding you of the French holiday you had. I saw this at a chateau hotel somewhere. Pp were buying and i wish i was there. Sometimes pp may not have time to go to the Emma us and brocantes and would like a small coollection to pick from. It would make you some money on the side too. I love what you are both doing at the chateau. Keep going and show us your fav shops as you go window shopping. I would like to see. I wanted to go to art school, but was afraid of starving so went to advertising school instead. Wish I’d pursued art now. 😊 Quick drying clay is exactly what I was looking for!
