I don't know.......it's really funny.......but I think the funniest thing is Kenans very first response to Tom Hanks being correct. The wide eyed disbelieving "Yes!"
Tom Hanks is such a good actor. Im sure he came up with making his jaw crooked just to add detail to this character for a short comedy skit. He's brilliant and works well with the other actors effortlessly.
One of the most true things I think I've ever heard was somone saying is that we (just people in general) have more in common with any given person in our tax bracket than with people who are only our same skin color.
If anyone ever questions the acting talent of Tom Hanks, they just need to watch this sketch. Shout out to Tom Hanks for going all in on this sketch... wearing that MAGA hat too.
Enjoy your reaction, especially the part where you said we have a lot in common. That is a huge takeaway I have from watching reaction videos. People from different financial, ethnic, gender, age... backgrounds can find common ground in comedy. I think we all need to take her ourselves a little bit less seriously and learn to laugh at ourselves. Thanks for your positivity!
Yup...she could be your sister! This is great. My 88 year old daddy loves soul food but says it's just good old southern poor people's food cause he grew up during the Depression. His mama cooked it everyday. He always claimed poor ain't a color, just a way of living. People do what they gotta do. He didn't judge.
Yep.. that's how it is... and the stupid thing is that people still listen to the media talking about "racism here and racism there"... all they want to do is pit people against each other so they don't see the big picture... that all their problems come from the same fucking source... BEING POOR... you really think that a black guy driving a 300k dollar car and wearing a 20k dollar suit gets shit on the street cause he's black? Hell no... it's all a matter for image... poor people get shit on... rich people are treated like royalty, can do whatever the hell they want, the laws don't apply to them, they can steal, kill, anything they want... the courts and politicians have been in their back pockets for decades anyway... Racism isn't even 20% of what the media make it look like... it's all about the MONEY... which is why the leaders of "Black Lives Matter" and "Me too" movements are now multi-millionaires while Dr. Martin Luther King got only a bullet to the head and a tombstone for his ideas... cause Dr. King wanted peace and brotherhood... these new age "waves" want hatred and to make people fight with each other to serve the rich...
Decades ago, our goddaughter's grandmother cooked us an old home meal. Hog maws and chitlins. I ate...politely. When I asked her how she liked it, she replied, "I'd rather have a steak".
This is an amazing skit on so many levels. Commentary on race AND socio-economic status. Race is an issue in this country. It is talked about it a lot. But class warfare and socio-economic status isn't discussed nearly enough and, as you said, this speaks to what we have in common. In many cases, the rich see all the poor as the same.
I mean they are talked about, but thats leftism, as opposed to liberalism, by defintion. The ideas that Republicans have realized could convert their voting base away form them if they overcame the fear of the word, so they have actively been promoting lying and censorship laws to prevent information about such ideas form being easily accessed.
The battle has always been rich vs. poor. "They" keep people thinking it's race, religion, gender, etc. to keep poor people apart so they don't team up and defeat the real enemy.
Exactly... tell me one damn difference of the problems a poor white guy has and a poor black guy has... there aren't any... both are fucking poor... but they want the society divided so that they don't look up and see the rich ass motherfucker with the 300k dollar car and the 100mil dollar mansion that has been making money off their suffering for decades... also, the guy that is super wealthy happens to be white cause of how circumstances were in the past decades but it's also not about color... it's about human greed... if it was a black man, asian man, any kind of color he would be exactly the same... greed doesn't know race or gender either... Anyway... I've lost hope in the future of humanity long ago... the world has been bought and owned and we just pass along to live our short lives in poverty or at best with enough to take care of ourselves and sucking all the happiness out of it cause all we can do is work hard and pay the bills while others are "living la vida loca" just cause they're wealthy, the laws don't apply to them and they make money daily by abusing the suffering of the poor... the word is being ruled by blood money and the people are blinded by all the bullshit social wars in front of them and they don't see the rich guys with the big bags of their money running away happily...
@@antoinettelopes Well, for one they should stop blaming racism and sexism for everything and start pointing out the real problems... cause most people still cling to all those black lives matter protests and me too movement bullshit speeches... I don't see anyone mentioning that ALL LIVES MATTER or that being a man isn't a crime in today's society... cause with the bullshit we hear you'd think that being a man is a crime by itself... People need to become critical thinkers... but in today's society it will never happen... cause the society itself doesn't want you to be one...
I'm going to be controversial here an refute that old socialist trope. It's always been the poor who compete with the poor, the rich who compete with the rich, and the state who robs them all. To quote Oscar Ameringer, "Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich, by promising to protect each from the other." Old Karl saw that there was a parasitic class but labelled the wrong group, and the world has suffered greatly for it.
LOVE this SNL Bit! And yes, grew up in NYC with the woman who lived underneath us hitting her ceiling all the time (my Mother would lose her mind) and I have a packet bin in my refrigerator, LOL! We do have more in common than we may realize.
3:13 When I get Chinese food, I love the packets because they give you so many. What I do is cut them open and empty them in my soy sauce bottle, sweet and sour bottle et al. You'd be surprised at how much is in those packets.
Really enjoyed the commentary, JAMAL! I have family of mixed race, and sometimes I feel that I shouldn't laugh at skits like this. THANK YOU for confirming that comedy is comedy, and we ALL need to be able to laugh at ourselves! FYI - this is my go-to video when I need a laugh. :D
Great Video & Great Comment, about how it shows that many people of diverse backgrounds have many things in common. I'm glad that we can laugh in viewing sketches, such as the one that you showed. I think, that, Saturday Night Live (SNL) & In Living Color & many more shows allow us to see humor in real subjects. I'm so glad it made you laugh.
Hilarious. Great share. Great take - re: all of us having much in common. It gets lost too often with the divisiveness of much of social media and the 24/7 news cycle.
So many people don’t understand that Black Lives Matter needs to be said because of the things happening not just historically but now that show Black Americans are not treated with the same respect and dignity. This is a simplification of the issue. All human lives matter, of course, that is not what the BLM movement debates. I know we have a long way yet to go . Everyone should acknowledge this so the work can be done.
Now you gotta watch the Black Jeopardy skit with Chadwick Boseman, if you haven’t seen it already. I don’t care for SNL but every now and then they manage to produce something funny.
The amazing thing about this is that they’ve done other Black Jeopardy sketches with people who should have done better than Doug…like an African studies professor and a Black man from Canada. But they didn’t do nearly as well as Doug did & I think it was really interesting.
Brian Tucker I believe wrote this sketch. He wrote on the chappelle show hence why it was so good, he was in that do you know black people sketch on chappelle show.

This is one of the best modern SNL skits. So funny no matter how many times you watch it.
Considering old SNL was just dudes hitting sandwiches with long knives, I think we can drop the “modern” modifier.
“Things skinny girls can do”
“What is not a damn thing”
Easily the funniest line in snl in the last two decades
Spitting facts though

Can somebody explain that one ? I unsure if i got it right
The "Jeapordy!?" Skit with Norm McDonald playing Burt Reynolds was pretty great too. RIP Turd Furgeson!!
Norm did Burt Reynolds so well. Now that was funny if you ever got to see Burt Reynolds first, hysterically funny.
He played him in more than one. Including on the 40th anniversary show. Always funny!

I read that when Kenan walked up to shake his hand and he stumbled back scared with his hands up, that was improved by Tom lol, it wasn't scripted..😄
too bad he is a pedo
I wouldn't be surprised if his lines were actually improv and not scripted... He did start out as a stand up comedian.
The girl on the left was trying not to laugh at Tom!🤣 I could tell. 🤣
Yes. Leslie jones is too hilarious also, she almost broke out of character to laugh her butt off 😂😂
I knew that Tom Hanks could play almost every role imaginable . this skit proves it1
loved him ever since' bosom buddies'
