I use clear gloss minwax polycrylic on mine to seal and have never had one yellow. I also use polyacrylic for glitter ornaments, so I knew it would probably not yellow since none of those have either. I love this idea with the dowel rods on the long ones. I also keep the color code chart for each one I do. I glue it to the back of the diamond painting canvas.
You can easily solve that drill popping problem easily: Next time you do this, roll OVER the FRONT of the bar to the back. Then you don't see the wooden dowel at all. AND no drills pop. Just wanted to share that tip with you. Richard
I love that painting, it’s huge!! It has tons of detail, the dog is fabulous I say! Love the idea, it’s so hard finding ways to hang our precious paintings without breaking the bank for sure!! Thanks for sharing 💕
I've been diamond painting for four years. I’ve tried over a dozen things to seal. In my opinion, Minwax Polyacrylic Gloss is the best sealer. It will not dull whatsoever and it will not yellow. I use a paint brush to apply.
@@spellicer8510 I actually prefer the one in the can. I apply it with a paint brush. However, please be aware that your project will now be hard doing it this way.
I used minmax polyurethane for making clocks and it has been 3 years and they have never turned yellow. Now i used a foam brush to spread it and I get the water base. The minmax dries clear.
I tried sealing a diamond painting (my first with square drills) with Minwax Polycrylic because I had it for sealing diamond art coasters (for which it's great). It stiffened the canvas, which I expected; I thought that would help it not to sag in a frame. However, it also made the sides curl up. I couldn't find anything online about this problem. I was able to flatten it by lying it on a hard surface and covering it with a tea towel and a breadboard weighed down with several cans. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else has this happen.
I love the rustic look. I ordered a canvas of the Shroud of Turin as a gift and didn’t want to pay for mounting and think the rustic look would be awesome. Thanks for great video!
Nice vidéo !!!! Verry good, not expensive way to put up DPs I can't afforde to pay big $$ to frame my work and sometime gluing them on a canvans is tricky when the DP is big ou long. Tanks for the tip !! Have a nice day :-)
Yep, I was wondering if I would get it all messed up using a long canvas and glue. Smaller dowel rods would probably be better however, I like the weight making sure it stays straight on the wall and will pull out any wrinkles etc.
I think this is an awesome way to frame a DP. I was thinking of doing something similar only and that’s why I’m searching. I was actually thinking of using the half moon dowels not the full round ones. I was also thinking also about flat pieces of wood (stakes) like the pieces sold to hold up a tomato plant. Those are also cheap and might work well. I do like the idea of painting or possibly staining the wood to give it a finished look. Then maybe slitting the ends of the top dowel to hold the hanger. Thanks so much for sharing this because I love the way it looks! Great video!
Thank you so much!! I am so happy you like them! I had not done this before. I figured it would be nice to see me mess up too just like anyone else trying for the first time.
Just discovered your channel & subscribed😊 I'm new (mid june) to diamond painting and I'm just obsessed with it!!love this cost effective & easy way to hang!! Ty!
That's a great idea, but make sure it is foam core board that is art safe. Archival. Card board emits a chemical that yellows things over time. Great idea!! 💡
Thank you so much for the great idea ..it looks great And what a beautiful picture. I use Liquitex for Sealing my paintings. Quick question..how did you get into diamond painting ? And do you prefer square or Round Drills.. Love your videos..
Hi Nancy, My sweet facebook friend in Texas (Gillian) showed me her diamond paintings that she got for Christmas. Then I tried it and man alive was I hooked! I prefer square because of the detail it gives. I do like round in between the squares to get a lil rest from the square. Thank you sooooo much for watching! :)
@@MimsHowse oh I never thought of the detail..I will differently keep that in mind..great tip thank you..iam kinda new to this and it's been quite an adventure..one that iam really enjoying..oh I love the pictures you have on your wall..are they diamond paintings? Is your little dog a poodle? I have a mimi poodle name Bean..who would love to diamond paint but like wanting to driving the car I had to say no... how long does it take you to finish one of those big ones?
@@mossn081 Sometimes it takes me a few months to get a huge one done like the woman on the wall. But it always depends on if I am really busy here with the grands or if I am sick. I am really trying hard to get this peter pan one done faster than I usually do. Both of the pictures on my wall are diamond paintings. The girl is no longer available. I am not sure about the children on their makeshift ambulance. Yes, Frodo is a mini poodle. He doesn't think he is lil until one of my Labradors gets near him lol! Smart lil aleck he is but sweet too. He is getting groomed in the morning and will look awesome. He is a wooley booger right now. lOL!
I always wondered how those rods would work. I think I’ll try them out on my next one. Also, I love that DP…can you share where you got it? Keep making videos 😁😁
I bought it over a year ago from Flosty. I am hoping tho someone can find it again and post it in the comments. If I find it Ill be sure to let everyone know. However, the quality was really nice as far as the drills and the grid being good to allow for any imperfection on straightness or miss sized drills.
Hi Kelley! It was from Amazon in the sowing section. This is one like it. www.amazon.com/FISW7-Fiskars-195210-1001-Contour-Rotary/dp/B07G9NTVD5/ref=sr_1_13?crid=3LYHUBWBQ8HQ2&keywords=Fabric+cutter&qid=1667876939&sprefix=fabric+cutter%2Caps%2C125&sr=8-13

Hey now that is a great idea! Always will have the color code key in case you need to replace any diamonds.

Hi Angie, is it the spray gloss you use for the Minwax?
I will have to do a video trying it out.

Great insight on the Minwax. Wonder if we could cut it with water or something like that so it would not be so strong?
Thank you Mim for a great share.
I'm watching from Australia. God bless you.
I'm going to try this in some of mine
Thank you

Fantastic job thanku
Thank you!!
When you are doing a really large painting and start at top what do you do with top of finished canvas while working on middle and bottom.
I usually let it fall down the other side. But lately, I just do the canvas in quarter sections.

Great idea. I have a long one coming up to do for my nephew and he’s unsure how he wants it finished. This is a new idea to run by him.
Its great to have easy cheap ways to frame. I think I would rather have flat wood tho. However, this does work.
Thankyou..from UK x

I loved the painting but I would have rolled it to the back .
Instead of hot glue I wonder if a staple gun would work. BarbaraSD
Yes it would. I am going to have to do that myself because gravity is pulling it away from the dowels. So I need to do an update.
You give i id o cut the side
