    Thanks ! The only and best DIY for the PCCM.
    It’s incredible that Porsche gives nothing to help to install this.
    But it’s done for me with your help !
    👏👏👏

    Sorry you have only 37 "likes". Your video series on the PCCM+ install is bang on. I'll add some comments later from my experience this week. All said and done, with your help, I got mine installed on a 2000 996, replacing the factory Becker (CDR-220). Saved myself several hundred $ installation charges and traveling across town to the local audio experts who seemed a bit uncertain about the job.

    Great video. In all your vids on this subject you did a great job providing detail info without going too far and saying too much. And like your creativity in solving the challenges getting everything to fit. Thanks again!

    I just want to thank you - this video series is probably the best guide i found on the entire internet for the install. Installed this weekend and it works great! Only thing I would add is a slight detail on that ground line. So what happened with mine (gen 1 car, slightly different mounting hardware) is I reconnected it to the mounting bracket as it was originally, however this caused an issue with the alarm system (one beep after locking). A small piece of electrical tape in between the mounting bracket contact and the PCCM unit fixed the issue by breaking the circuit. Supposedly has to do with antitheft.

      Yes, the grounding issue I've heard the same from others. Seems to be a resistance issue with the "reed" type connector. I didn't experience it though with this install.
      Thanks for replying it gives others options.

    The module you identified as "digital FM" mounted to the halo tray is actually the MOST bridge. You don't need it for your application, since you don't have MOST bus.

    Fantastic videos loved your mic and gps location ideas, very clean. Plan on following the instructions for my 996.1, slightly different of course due to no cupholder.

    Great videos. Did you have to change anything on the diversity control unit/module or the A pillar antenna units ? This is in relation to FM/DAB intermittent service + sound fades in and out and lack of signal / station lists. Only impacts Tuner (Radio / DAB) function.

    Second connector it is for speakers

    • @justinhedrick5656
      @justinhedrick5656 2 роки тому +2

      Just for anyone doing the install. The second connector is for a standard Porsche 'B' plug which is the brown speaker plug. This is a standard plug and it's used when installing the PCCM+ with no external amp. This will utilize the internal amp giving speaker line out directly to the speakers. You'll need to go into settings and switch from CAN to AMP.

    Good videos. I noticed you have a cup holder which I do not have. Do you know if this might be an issue and whether I will need a bezel below the vents?

      That is a very good question. I'm sorry but I don't have an answer for you, but another viewer posted a a very useful link to a factory Porsche pdf that lists many of the parts necessary to do this conversion. I think it is in the pccm unboxing video

    WELL. I got everything connected, slid in, etc. No sound. I switched it to AMP like you said, disconnected the battery. Still no sound. Any ideas?

    • @ProjectsMB
      @ProjectsMB  3 роки тому

      Does it power up and everything work but the sound ? If so, it's probably the yellow connector not installed correctly.
      Or, I had to power on, disconnected and "reboot" a couple of times before this one turned on properly.
      Other possibility is no power up which is going to be a power in issue.

    • @geoffreydeibel
      @geoffreydeibel 3 роки тому

      @@ProjectsMB Yeah, powers up, it's connecting to the phone, it appears to be receiving the radio signals as well. I have the yellow connector installed at the top of that stack of openings... is that right? I think I followed what you had in the video. I was reading something about a grounding for the amp. But from reading the really crap directions from Porsche, that seemed like that didn't apply to my car. I did hear the amp clicking a bunch when the radio was on. Hopefully I haven't fried anything...

    • @ProjectsMB
      @ProjectsMB  3 роки тому

      Okay if everything powers up it is most likely the signals out to the amp. When you enter the amp / can menu is it defaulting to amp now?

    • @geoffreydeibel
      @geoffreydeibel 3 роки тому

      @@ProjectsMB Yes. So weird, I feel like I've done everything right! I looked really carefully through the directions and there was something about the antenna and an additional grounding for the amp, but I don't think that's my year (2004) 986.

    • @geoffreydeibel
      @geoffreydeibel 3 роки тому +2

      @@ProjectsMB Ok, I finally figured it out. This was purely an issue of--surprise, surprise--having horrible or nonexistent directions. I completely messed up the fiber optic connection. The MOST box has a plasic cover over the connection which I didn't realize, so I mistakenly just plugged the fiberoptic loop thing into the yellow cord. Obviously I don't know too much about how that worked. Everything worked just fine! The only thing I have left is to decide if I want to do your mod for the breakout box or just stick it in the glove. But seriously, I appreciate the videos and also your replies... was a big help!

    Is pccm plus compatible with 996 gt3 as well ?

    • @ProjectsMB
      @ProjectsMB  Рік тому

      I would imagine so. I can't imagine the body modules being different in a GT 3 versus a 911.
      I suggest you call Suncoast Porsche, they are the most reasonable priced there and the parts men are welled versed.
