  • Antique 14k gold Touchon & Co Minute Repeater Pocket Watch. This is an all mechanical watch from the late 1800s which can ring out the elapsed hours, quarter hours and minutes on demand. The repeater function is activated by a slide in the side of the case. Two hammers strike two gongs attached to the movement (mechanism). These gongs look like wires and make a circle around the movement. Most of the repeater mechanism is located under the dial. It is a complicated watch and was very expensive when new. This one needs a clean and oil for it to run as it should and to protect it from wear. It is missing part of the regulator on the balance cock. The regulator provides a measure of control over errors in time keeping by speeding up or slowing down the motion of the balance wheel. Operating the regulator opens up or closes the coils of the hairspring which is attached to the balance wheel.
