O my god...Liszt is known for the extreme technical transpositions of Schubert's lieder like Erlkonig or Standchen...but here, it's a symphony. Strings, winds, horns...and it's pretty perfect. The pianist gives a very good interpretation.
I've searched the entire internet for the best piano arrangement of the 2nd Mouvement of Beethoven's 7th symphony. All of them were either not played the right way,, bad quality or good but not excellent. This is by far the best I've ever seen. It's played like its supposed to be played. Thank you so much for sharing!
Kevin. You could go around the world for many years playing these transcriptiones until reaching perfection. I think it would be a great success. I would go to all your concerts. I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
Wonderful. Few pianists will expend the time and effort required to learn these transcriptions. But they are tremendously satisfying both to play and to listen to, in case you love this great music and you don't happen to have an orchestra handy. More power to you! Best, Alan
I' m a bit disappointed that you play different modulation at 28:17 of the 4th Movemen. Thank to the performance, I'm a bit confused. But, Generally, I think it's the best performance in every video about piano arrangement of Beeethoven's 7th symphony in UA-cam. Thank you so much for sharing!
Wow, I've never heard this on solo piano before. Very nicely done. Still prefer the full orchestra for Movement I, but this is definitely very nicely done!
How have I realised just now that this pianist is also one of the pianists playing the two pianos and timpani arrangement of the ninth symphony, despite both videos being on the same channel?? I’m so unobservant.
I read that Liszt transcribed all nine symphonies one weekend because he was bored.....not sure how true that is .....but bravo to Liszt and dare I say boredom ......
Maybe he _played through_ them all in a weekend, but the actual transcriptions took about 16 months. He basically became a hermit in a little cloister cell with just a bed, a piano, a desk, and writing materials. That's how much of a Beethoven fan he was.
@@KevinSuherman hehe =) I can not find a live version where the repeat (2nd transcription) is beeing played as noted. Probably too risky, to ever play on a live recording. Great video though!
This and the transcription of the 3rd Symphony are really Liszt's best among the 9. I must say though, as much as I liked your performance I was not a fan of your decision to go out of tempo in the Coda of the finale as the bass ostinato figure starts. This part has to sound absolutely manic, and if you suddenly start to introduce heavy rubati and trying to make it "interesting" it just doesn't.
I loved the choice. Capturing the symphonic "feel" in a transcription is really difficult, and I think stretching the tempo allowed the ear to make more sense of the rumble in the bass which might otherwise have been obscured by the RH work. Von Karajan does something similar in one of his versions of the 7th, and it works well there too.
There where one or two mistakes... 😂💦💦💦💦 By the way: I arrange alot by myselfe. Liszt was forced by contract to stick at the score as close as possible. With the sacrifice of dangerous playing and not optimal sounding for piano. For example I play the theme of the Exposition (1st mov) in tremolochords while the left hand is simply groove-hammering the shit out of the piano. It sounds amazing. Or the following p-part with left-hand Arpeggio and an Octave deeper in the repeat.Sounds better and: MORE SIMPLE!!! MAKE NOICE!!! According to a more authentic Beethoven than Liszt‘s Original skeleton version. Beethoven composed the sheet at his piano. So bring it back to the root!!! Anyway: Your play is perfect and outstanding!!!

Liszt had a great ear for orchestra into piano. This pianist has a great sense of momentum and formal structure.
A whole orchestra in one person! Beethoven swings! Fantastic!
1:05 - Movement I
13:24 - Movement II
21:24 - Movement III
25:53 - Movement IV
Lol movement 3 to movement 6.
Thanks for time stamps by the way.

It's clear you play these pieces from a love for Beethoven and his music, and for Liszt of course, bravo

Try listening to Cyprien Katsaris' recordings! He's recorded every one of Liszt's arrangements of the Beethoven symphonies.
@@ElieElKhoury19 I did! However, I find it a bit to slow for my taste :D

Existe algun arreglo para piano del 14avo cuarteto de cuerdas de beethoven??
Where is the repeat in presto?
Strangely Liszt left it out in his transcription!
