Everyone should have a Dave when they first get painting, such a chill vibe to paint with. Looked like everyone came away having had a good time, and excellent work on that first marine there
I'm listening to this whilst walking around my local supermarket and the looks I'm getting everytime I burst out laughing has led to the little old lady next to me at the reduced food section ask if I'm OK 😂 love the podcast
I've always been drawn to your channel, your personality, mannerisms and production values make ms_paints a no-brainer for anyone even remotely interested in miniature hobbying, but with this format you've really hit the sweet spot for me and made absolute must-watch tv. Love everything about this series and cannot get enough, more like this please!
Homer tounge sticking out is when he goes to clown college and when hes having tea at home, mash potatoes, hes sculpting the mash into a circus tent, with his tounge sticking out. Love that scene too 😂
I genuinely love these videos with just the 2 of you, I hope you don't run out of content ideas because I could see me watching these for a very long time!
This is a great video to help learn how to TEACH someone how to paint miniatures. I'd love to see more Dave-teaches-Michael as well as Dave-teaches- videos. I'm trying to get more people into the hobby, and watching someone else teach in person (not a video, without face to face interaction) is greatly appreciated. Loved this! Also, paused the video to look up the ridiculousness of Baywatch Nights! I kind of wished I knew about that back in the day LOL!
I was recently showed your videos by my brother who convinced me to get back into 40k. I posted my first painted model and got torn apart due to my hand shaking affecting my ability. Your videos are a godsend and really helped build my confidence! Thank you
I feel like the comment "The audience can see just how cack-handed I am, if they didn't already gather that in episode 1" is also (more or less) the story arch for Anakin Skywalker.
Cracking video, with great conversation as always. Loving this format, and that you're covering so many random topics. Would love to see Luke, for a tea and hob-nob whilst chatting about life.
Really pleased to hear Luke is still banging about, even if he's not making new content. I still recommend his channel to people, seems like a top bloke and would love to see you lot putting the world to rights, painting or whatever.
Amazing! Thanks for another fun episode! Would be great to see some close-ups of the finished marine once you guys are done with it. Looking forward to more!
I think there's a lot of closet 40k players/F1 crossover. The F1 crowd has a lot more female interaction, so tucking the gaming side out of sight is... beneficial. 😅 Also, Space Above and Beyond is one of my fave scifi from that era
Loved this video. I've recently being tutoring the missus in mini-painting and it's been a lot of fun to see her taking it all on board (most attention she's ever paid to what I've said).
A few years ago we had triplets and they spent some time in the NICU. My wife and I traded off day and night shifts for a while. While I was doing the night shift and wasn't hands on with a tiny baby, I would watch SG1. I got through the whole show. I will always associate SG1 with that period of my life.
That got me through a rather tedious annual financial forcasting session. Why when you say Chomp change as a name, do I keep thinking of Barry Sh1tpeas? Where does that come from?
Very well done, gentlemen. Mr Chumpchange, congratulations, you did very well. I have to ask though, does anyone else think Mr Chumpchange look a bit like a budget Guy from Midwinter Minis...?
Gotta love them Roger Corman references. Funny thing that most people will never admit his actual genius. I mean, He made a Fantastic Four movie that was so bad its great and so faithful to the comic books it was never released and Fox Studios remade that movie twice lmao. Both the 2005 and 2015 Fantastic Four movies have the exact same basic plot as Corman's. The 2005 movie even had a recreation scene from the 1994 film, where The Human Torch has to outsmart a heat seeking missile... in the Roger Corman film... Human Torch had to deal with a large laser gun lmao.
I was, for far to long, part of the airbrush avoiding crowd. I am so glad I finally got into airbrushing but I wonder about the many videos I skipped because of it.
Good progress here. You’ll be guiding him through the assembly and painting of a warlord titan soon enough. Even I’d consider subbing to patreon to watch that torture
Wet dry brushing is revelatory. Just keep the brush a little damp and it'll stop your paint being chalky and blends beautifully. Also is tony alright? He's starting to stutter a lot and his skins looking... Felty.
and the more people test the strawberry r thing, the worse it gets since all the material it has to reference is ai failing to count the r's in strawberry
This was real fun to watch! Now get him to paint some nids. Just for the humor of it. *purposely doesn't acknowledge the pile of gray plastic from 20 years ago yet to be painted*. Yep, just for the humor.
How long should base layers take to dry? I’m using citadel paints and I’m finding often that my paint is almost dry enough to handle within 60 seconds? I also can’t seem to thin my paints, it feels like the paint separates from any water I add like oil the moment it hits my models
With acrylic paints, they do dry pretty fast. That’s one of the pros of the medium, but it also makes it trickier if you’re trying to wet blend colours together because you need to work fast. The purpose of thinning paints is to apply a nice even coat, to help not clog up details and help the paint flow from the brush. The amount they need to be thinned depends on which colour you’re using because different paints tend to be thicker than others (all comes with experience). Generally, darker colours tend to be more opaque/better covering and will be thicker. So they will require more thinning. Lighter colours like yellow or light green will be less opaque and tend to be runnier. These generally require less thinning, just enough to get an even coat. It’s also worth mentioning that the amount you thin the paints will also depend on what you’re using the paint for. If you’re applying a base coat, you would be better off applying 2-3 thin coats to get a nice even coat. If you were painting a freehand symbol or smaller details on the model, maybe you’d go for a slightly thicker application of paint. If paint is the consistency of cream, aim to thin them to the consistency of milk (well roughly, maybe slightly thicker). 😂 I hope this all makes sense and helps 👍🏻
I'm really enjoying the new podcast it's informative and fun like all of your videos. I also admire the way they are shot. Now to the important questions, Oscar Piastri for F1 world champion in 2025 is a valid call. He's a better driver than Lando Norris. Dune part 2 was a disappointment for me. They moved away from the novel too much for my liking. As for 90s sci-fi it has to be Babylon 5, DS9, FarScape and The X-Files for me. The Rings of Power improves episode by episode. It's not perfect and it benefit from better direction, scripts and editing. My wife is a big Tolkien fan (she read The Silmarillion without falling asleep) loves the show. I've seen worse fantasy shows eg The Wheel of Time. Looking forward to the next video
I don't really know why this is the bit that I'm answering - but the Borderlands movie... While it is bad to a baffling degree, Kevin Hart isn't the out of place comic relief in the line-up, rather he seems to use this film to try play the straight man for once. But its still one of the baffling decisions the film made, as it just doesn't work. If you haven't actually seen it, I cannot recommend it. End of sentence. It doesn't come back around from bad to good, it's just bad. I guess Jamie Lee Curtis seems to have fun hamming it up, but even that isn't worth the time to watch it.

I could care less about a lot of things on the contrary I couldn't care less about this assertion Im making for some pointless reason, that you will never read. Hahahaha! That’s good, was worried this one was a little more dry than usual!
Dave and Michael build and paint warbands for a skirmish game? That could be a fun series and could play the game at the end.

Please keep doing these as they are so good to paint along to. Also Tony showing up made my day

My man, the sound in this episode is superb!
Mr Chumpchange actually has a complete piece-work magazine series!? I thought they were designed to fail after about 6 issues!
Super cozy (hyggelig, as we say) chuckling along to this while building some Frostgrave guys and gals. Keep 'em coming!
