Highly underrated guitarist and musician. He's one of those guys that creates guitar orchestras in his music. Very thoughtful.
I get what you're saying, but I do think he is well appreciated in the music community for his contributions to hard rock, atmospheric rock, etc. APC is a pretty big group and they did incredibly well off of their first 2 albums - he's had a pretty charmed musical career, ultimately - one that we all could only hope for! I am glad for him. Makes you wonder how many incredible musicians are recording at home and never get to our ears...
Always click right away when I see the name Billy Howerdel.. have yet to be disappointed.
Still my favourite guitar player of all time!
He's not a virtuoso, not a shredder, but he has his cool, atmospheric sound, emotional!
He’s the guy that got me into guitar all those years ago.
This is so true. Some guitars just have the sound and feel that others of the same make just don't have.
i played close to 30 les pauls the day i got my Sharlenna...2003 standard plus top!
I start all my new albums from absolute zero in Logic too. Then when i've got a great track 1 - that is the template for that project. I start completely from scratch every time.
One of my favorite guitarists. Always interviews great too. Good dude.....
Heh. My "main" Les Paul was 1 of 4 that were absolutely identical, hanging on the music store wall. The other 3, I wanted nothing to do with after playing them, and ended up taking home the one that I did.
Billy is a very talented musician and artist...you rock billy....
Thank you for sharing this🖤💜🎸
2ND Note
Never understood who can allow a good Gibson guitar fall into nearly ruins
but glad Billy took the poor Guitar under his wings
And look at what he got for that: his best guitar. Ya never know what will sound good 'sometimes. My favorite is made out of mahogany plywood.
Aww what a guy! Sometimes it's as much about how an artist thinks or their perspective that's instructive or inspiring as the music.
Awesome!
One of my biggest gibson gripes is not being able to lay em on a table safely. Fixed
Billy is cool guy man
still kinda makes me think of Powder for some reason
XD
They should have kept the neck volute they had during the Norlin era. The KM Les Pauls had them.
Lol... I know that no matter how much I practice guitar, I will never get good enough to look at my guitar and think, "Damn...I really need better pickups because these aren't conveying the message I want to send with my mid-range tones."
Billy, I should really let you try one of the torrified singlecuts I've produced. They have bolt-on wenge necks & sound spectacular. If you're ever interested in a signature model, I'm sure I could draw something up you might find interesting 😉
what song is playing throughout this? Especially at the end?
Does anyone know the name of the outtro song? I can't tell if it's from his newer material or the AshesDivide era.
I don't like playing Gibsons. I'd like to try one with a longer neck and lighter body though.
Nice boom mic
Anderson H2
Billy got me into using chorus. I was strictly an Adam Jones flanger type of guy till Billy showed me the art of using chorus.
Use a delay. That’s what Billy almost always got going.
Adam ant Whaaaaaaaaa ????
Marco Pirroni is a fantastic guitarist and was great on Adam Ant's early records.
I don't know what you doing with your guitar. How you make to break the neck like that? It's not a baseball bat.
Mine fell off a guitar stand & went ping!!
Sounds better now than ever...
Les Pauls & SGs are known for losing their heads.
The way Gibson makes their necks the point where the main part of the neck meets the headstock has to be angled a certain way in order to keep the strings at a certain tension. However, this makes the point where they meet weaker. A lot of new guitars have something called a 'volute'-a piece of wood in the middle that strengthens the joint. Gibsons don't which is why it's VERY easy to put the guitar down wrong and cause it to break.
That said he did say that they're rough with instruments on stage and that at one point Trent threw the thing into the crowd and it broke when it landed.
I read that Trent Reznor broke it. Then gave it to Billy after Billy fixed it. Also, it was "cool" in some bands to break their instruments. Not for everybody, obviously.
I guess you never dropped a Les Paul. They are known for breaking at the headstock very easily. Most of the famous Les Pauls have repaired neck.
@@nimitz1739 No i never dropped down the Les Paul and i even chaged my strap lock (Schaller*****) to be sure that my instruments don't fall down. But yes i know about headstock. They are very fragile in this part.
You worked for nine inch nails and couldnt afford any gibson you wanted? how cheap were those guys? smashing dozens of gibsons and couldnt pay the guitar tech?
He spent $20,000 of his own money to make the first perfect circle record. He definitely wasn’t brought back then
Billy is a total snob...
There's a difference between being a snob and just knowing what he likes.
