My favorite thing about the start of Perfect Circle was that I learned about them from Maynard's step mom - Maynard and I were friends (he was known as Jimmy then) in our teen years. It was while Tool was in hiatus between albums & I asked her what he was doing hoping to get the latest Tool dirt when she told me about APC.
@C Snide That’s super cool u guys were old friends! Lucky you! Maynard is my all time favorite singer (Billy is a genius too☺️). Anyway, Jimmy as in the song “Jimmy?” I never look at song meanings or interpretations, so I guess that was where it came from! 🖤
I personally love Eat the Elephant. It's definitely more mellow but it's rich. I can't really explain it, but it's like the most ambivalent intro song ever. That little squeak "Just begin" at the end makes me smile.
When I saw them live in Berlin, they opened with that song and when Maynard sang "Ominous and daunting" I got goosebumps. He sang it in a hauntingly beautiful way, fantastic show
Billy and I made eye contact for a full 5 seconds at the 2004 Salem, OR concert. I was right up against the stage barrier, 5 feet from him. It was a magical moment I've never forgotten!!
I got to see APC open for NIN in 2000 during the Fragility tour. Back then, I had no idea Maynard was the singer of the band, and I specifically remember being confused by all of the Tool t-shirts I saw at that show, I remember thinking “I think these people are at the wrong show” 😂
How fitting that it’s a Pink Floyd concert that sparked Billy’s enthusiasm for where he is today. Every PF fan knows that their on stage show presence is a HUGE production that elevates their fans enjoyment. It definitely does have a life of its own. Love Billy 😎✌️
A cliche thing to say but Billy is one of my favorite guitar players and songwriters. Even before I knew anything about the members it was quite clear he was the master mind behind the band's sound.
Billy gets no respect. One of the most underrated writers. Maynard pretty much only sings, and gets more credit for Billy’s band than he should. Actually it’s the same with tool, he just does the lyrics and sings and everyone else actually makes the songs different.
I get that billy should get more praise cause the lyrics are amazing, but in tool case i think part of the cool vibe it has are maynard lyrics so... In my opinion both are great writing
"Just the lyrics and sing" is such a naive and disrespectful statement. Lyrics are everything in giving meaning to a song and as far as singing, the melody and tone is whats brings life to such insane and beautiful music.
To be honest, I haven't gone back to Eat The Elephant in a while. Maybe I will eventually. There are some good songs on the album. But yeah, they need to get Maynard James Keenan, James Hetfield, and Joey Belladonna on here.
FoF for Tool as a whole could go on forever. So many weird fan theories and ideas to confirm or debunk. Knowing Maynard though he'd probably throw some random fake facts out there during the interview to mess with people.
Lol the look on Billy's face at 7:36 is how I feel everytime I watch one of these, from his weirdo "humble bows" to a cringey interviewing style that he even checks out on.
That foresight on Halford's part though! Judith is pure fire.
The video was the absolutely perfect compliment to the song as well!
Billy is so intelligent and articulate when talking. His interviews are always great.
Anyone Maynard hangs around is going to be smart, I don’t think Maynard cares for stupid people.
He’s just talking like a normal person?
Met Bily Howerdel in Manchester and what a lovely person he is. Approachable and friendly. Awesome record and excellent musician.
He sounds like he should be calling sports games as a side project. Lol Perfect broadcasting tone.
I can’t stop staring at his scalp, it’s mesmerising.
BALD! BALD! BALD!
It’s a perfect circle
@@trigger796 lol spongebob reference, nice
@Seth Fletcher My understanding is that he Simonizes it every other day.
I’m curious where the big scar came from
Time for a fact or fiction with Adam Jones or Danny Carey??
MarkRoss 96 or Justin Chancellor
Now you are thinking. Yes!!!
they wont do it until album is out LOL
all of them
wont hurt 2 try

I want to see Chino Moreno on here!
Gokumann12 Are you sure about that?
@Gokumann12 pretty sure he's not the only one.....
@Gokumann12 oh really??
I personally love Eat the Elephant. It's definitely more mellow but it's rich. I can't really explain it, but it's like the most ambivalent intro song ever. That little squeak "Just begin" at the end makes me smile.

Billy's head is brighter than my future lmao 😂 I love APC

Another awesome FoF Loudwire! He does sound genuine indeed!
Weak and Powerless Is still my all time favorite song EVER!! even 18 years later..
But That album is only 19 years old as of 2022...
I think Graham is becoming a great interviewer. Thanks.
Cool interview Graham and Loudwire, thanks
Can you imagine the glare with Billy, Maynard and Rob Halford in the same room?
And the other bald billy
That Rob Halford story is awesome
Yes, underrated part of the video based on the comments

Wasn’t expecting this. Loving it rn.
Very interesting seeing Wiki info getting validated by the man himself. Good interviewing. Cheers.
I have not clicked this fast on a video in awhile... great insight and so happy this series exists!!!
Billy Howerdel and Danny Lohner represent everything I love about music.
How fitting that it’s a Pink Floyd concert that sparked Billy’s enthusiasm for where he is today. Every PF fan knows that their on stage show presence is a HUGE production that elevates their fans enjoyment. It definitely does have a life of its own. Love Billy 😎✌️
Great interview, very informative 👍👏
Awesome interview/interviewer
Graham always does a great job.
Muchas gracias loudwire y saludos cordiales desde Mallorca
Great musician! I love everything that he does!

And i dont think doing the lyrics and sing is "just doing the lyrics and sing" tool wouldnt be the same without maynard's singing
"Just the lyrics and sing" is such a naive and disrespectful statement. Lyrics are everything in giving meaning to a song and as far as singing, the melody and tone is whats brings life to such insane and beautiful music.
In all fairness, people's initial interest in APC was due to Maynard being in the band. I didn't know he didn't write the lyrics in APC though.
He's a great musician . Seen them live twice he brings such a great vibe with his playing, really great guitar player 😎
Damn I thought it was gonna be Maynard. Still a great interview though.
Same
It’s Billy’s band. Happy that they talked to him.
Well, its from both, they already talked about that
Joe true
Nah man, he is busy making wine
I love APC and Maynard but knowing that Liz could have been an option is mindblowing!
To be honest, I haven't gone back to Eat The Elephant in a while. Maybe I will eventually. There are some good songs on the album.
But yeah, they need to get Maynard James Keenan, James Hetfield, and Joey Belladonna on here.
MJK is an asshole
No pressure. This album is forgettable af
I disagree. Mer De Noms and Thirteenth Step feel more complete though
Especially Hetfield and Belladonna
So Long, And Thanks for all the Fish was an incredible, apocalyptic pop-rock symphony.
Clicked so fast and desperately upon seeing this that my computer broke down for a little bit.
9:31 he was so proud to pull that one off
Finally! If you can get maynard as guest my life would be complete!
A momentary lapse of reason was an epic tour. Though it was missing Roger Waters but I can see a lot of David Gilmour influence on him.
Cool story about the the "not" 1st single release of "3 Libra's" - "Went with wisdom"
Most excellent!
It's kinda inspiring that Johnny Sins made the shift to music industry.
Judith was originally called "Deal"? Huh ...
I think he said “Dio” as in “God”
@@iggystardust9236 ... That would make far more sense ... !! 👍🏼😎👍🏼
Judith is Maynard's birth mother - who passed
About time, from a huge APF fan.
Billy Howerdel is currently polishing his already shiny head😂😂
one of my closest friends who passed a few years ago was from west milford nj!
Tequila is my go to as well... Love you Billy!
FoF for Tool as a whole could go on forever. So many weird fan theories and ideas to confirm or debunk. Knowing Maynard though he'd probably throw some random fake facts out there during the interview to mess with people.
I can only imagine what Elizabeth Fraser woulda made A Perfect Circle sound like. That shit would have been godly.
Completely agree
We need The Cure/Robert Smith fact or fiction!
@Mark Richardson I think more people would enjoy it than not.
Fact or fiction Henry rollins
My god im so curious to hear the original version of the song of the album made by Billy howerdel...im pretty sure i would prefer his version :-P
Will Maynard finally have a new Tool album out in 2018? Fiction
Yes we are releasing in 2019
Will skijumpnose post another comment whereby he thinks himself as a "friend to the stars"?
Fact.
That was already established months ago. So... great job, I guess.
i’ve watched the whole thing at 0.5x tempo by accident. not disappointed
Graham, my first Telecaster was a Fender Nashville Power Tele. I've never owned a Squier.
I would of asked if he ever has plans to get the Paz/ Troy line up together again one day.
I've always thought Billy kind of looks like Maynard's older brother or something.
Love Billy
I'd love to hear the initial version of Eat The Elephant, the staccato one.
mer de noms is sea of names in french
a early demo of vanishing was 17 minutes long
Great video
Why hasn't Elizabeth Fraser been featured on a track?
I plan on seeing them in Nashville
I KNOW THIS THE LASTS TAKE MY LOVE & NEVER SAY GOODBY
"She was busy?" haha
Halford Hanging with Maynard fucking awesome
I know it’s not metal, but I would actually love to see one with Cedric Bixler or Omar Rodriguez-Lopez from At The Drive-In
Billy looks like one of the healthiest rockstars among his age group
For some reason he looks like Maynard
Fact: The song The Hollow was whistleblowing Hollow Earth. Creatures that feast on elephants “eat the elephant” live deep down. Keep asking questions.
George Denbrough check out his channel, it’s a parody of conspiracy theorists and stuff
Did you even listen to the songs ?
Ok here's a question: if there are creatures that feast on elephants, then why are there still elephants? Checkmate, atheists!
You should do fact or fiction with Benjamin Burnley from Breaking Benjamin
Lilli Kositzke Fuck yeah
Lilli Kositzke hell yeah
Lilli Kositzke & Ozzy Osbourne
Lilli Kositzke yes please
Can you do a fact or fiction with the deftones
He sounds exactly like Alex Skolnik from Testament.
Liz Fraser fronting APC?? Now that would have been super interesting to hear.
When agent 47 happens to shred as well
what is everybodys favorite A Perfect Circle album?
Hello. My favourite album of there's is Mer de noms .✌️
mines Thirteenth Step, but Mer de noms is also very good
@@jackbrown4697. Cool man I like that one aswell. 👍
I enjoy only some songs on each album. But in order of least to greatest: The Thirteenth Step, Mer De Noms, Eat the Elephant.
1. Thirteenth Step
2. Eat The Elephant
3. Mer De Noms
4. Emotive
What about Sting or Stewart Copeland?
HE WON THE FUCKING LOTTERY WITH MAYNARD.
APC is such a beautifully balanced group of talented musicians!
It's like none of the band actually speak to each other except through interviews...
Mike Patton Fact or Fiction!
He sounds just like Howard Stern
Holy shit he does
What are your guy's opinions on A Perfect Circle?
Should I check them out?
Adrian Kondanari yes
All right then
Absolutely! First album is best
It would be fun to sit awkwardly with Billy.
I always thought he looks like a comic book villain
Where's Paz?
This dudes ears are trippy, man.
He looks like Joe Satriani
What?..no full name question?
do a Wikipedia fact or fiction with children of Bodom.
Do one with Galder of Dimmu Borgir
That legato comment 👌👌
Still waiting for tool's new album and tool Wikipedia fact or fiction
9:33 forms
The feel when the guy says staccato and you know to say legato
I thought the leader of Tool was APCs frontman too .. am I wrong?
Maynard is the voice and Billy the heart
Fuck yeah! Graham!
Wikipedia Fact or Fiction with Jeff Waters and Jon Schaffer!
wait the song eat the elephant was for linkin park, wow
Lol the look on Billy's face at 7:36 is how I feel everytime I watch one of these, from his weirdo "humble bows" to a cringey interviewing style that he even checks out on.
Do it with Adam Jones!!!!!!!!!!
Hah, Maynard just happened to be friends with Rob Halford..
cool ay, that’s a sick beat.. let me call up DOOM
APC with Liz Fraser?!? Sign me up
