Interesting, this is the first time I've heard the Meramec River pronounced like that. I'm from the St. Charles area and have always heard it pronounced like "Mer-a-mac", and people from every float trip place I've been to along that river.

The Black River is considered the cleanest river in the state. The whole southern half of Missouri is filled with floatable rivers.
You forgot the James river that runs through town, and down to TR.

Agreed. Maybe it’s a St. Louis thing (I grew up there) but I alway heard it pronounced Mare-a-Mack.
