- Those United in Common Cause has to be one of the most intriguing tracks in the Elden Ring DLC, maybe even the whole souls/borne series. Is this even a boss theme?

"DON'T YOU DARE APROACH MIQUELLA THE KIND"
Doing all the questlines to end up fighting your friends because of Miquella is tragic to say the least
Also Ansbach is the goat in this fight
@@2dat115 It takes some special kind of stupid to miss the entire NPC cast.
Needle knight Leda, Dryleaf Dane and our allies, will never allow this!
That was the saddest thing that happened in Elden Ring for me. Marika's tragedy? Nah. Crusade against Hornsent? Nah. Iji's death? Nah. Sad, forever? "Please don't make me do this gaaaaame :((((("
@@Elldlor "Sad forever" breaks my heart everytime :(
@@2dat115same lmao. Had only 3 NPCs to fight against me alone too.. Never seen the poison guy either and half of guys are just gone cuz I didn’t get them the item before killing the snakey boio.
In your free time, you should listen to this song with NPC dialog. It's poetry.
(Didn't realize you were playing it! the NPC dialog will spoil some of the plot in the DLC!)
He's playing the game for the first time right now, he should hear it in gameplay it would sound better
He will probably listen to it whike streaming. He already listened to Bayle OST with Igon's voicelines on a music request stream.
lol ''poetry''
So if anyone is curious he listened to it at the start of the "Ranking every Elden Ring Boss theme" stream he did yesterday, he actually read my suggestion in the chat lol
Fighting with Ansbach and Thollier at my back honestly felt totally awesome.
If no one else got me, I know my man Ansbach got me. Honestly, if I could I would've told him to stand back and not die in the Radahn fight. Imagine having such a bro as a minister or advisor when you become Elden Lord.
ITS cute how people forget that he was following the degenerate and Blood killer cult Full of psychos devoted to a eldritchian formless goddess full of blood crap.
ITS REALLY funny How mindless dumb souls players are
Even if we could have told Ansbach to stay back, he wouldnt have. He fought for his Lord's, Moghs, honour and denying him that wouldnt just do at all.
Don't overlook my boy Thiollier either. Dude made it past both his misgivings for us and his own self doubt to stand alongside us when it mattered.
Not the finest blade, nor the mightiest armour...
*Will spare your life. From the poison of Thiollier.*
Summon Florissax for a 3rd talking ally.
Thiollier got that dog in him 😌
"Sad, Forever?"
😢😢😢😢
You and I, fighting. A tragedy, this is
I can never hold back my tears for this. It's Siegward all over again.
The song is tragic to me. It "was" those united in common cause. Now they have discovered that their motivations conflict and they ended up fighting because therr is no solution. They respect each other, they fought side by side. It is former friends that you fight here. But all of them have a sense of duty for their cause and their masters. Only one could come out alive. And during the fight they all talk to each other about their duty but sad reality. How they would have fought together more if their goals had aligned. I imagine the instruments are "small" because none of them matter all that much in the grand picture. they are all small people.
I like your analysis the small instruments represent followers of Miquella and the tarnish and company where when we fight a Demi god their music is large and grandeur. The heroism in the song is great representing the duty to there lords or Demi god. But the sadness is the fighting of what was once comrades and the cruel reality of men fighting for a gods who do not know more better then men themselves
I feel like the scadutree avater final phase theme is more "tragic" when you add in what the avatar does to fend you off.
I got the impression that the "small" feeling was more about intimacy and giving the impression that these characters are close. In other words it represents their bond.
Ah yes, the theme of killing your former allies. Everyone was expecting a band of the hawk eclipse moment but i certainly didnt think i would be the one pushing in the knife.
“Not the finest blade, nor the mightiest armour… will spare your life. From the poison of Thiollier.”
“Now, my blade. Watch closely.”
They went hard with these lines, what a fight. It was much better than the final boss imo.
I am Ansbach, of the Pureblood knights
I stand with BLADE ALOFT, BLOOD AFIRE
FOR THE DIGNITY OF MY LORD AND MASTER, MOGH !
Righteous Tarnished. It appears that our interests have aligned. A balm upon my soul it is, that we do not meet today as enemies.
Best moment in the DLC, hands down.
Agreed
Why? The fight is terrible.
@@Al-ji4gd imo the fight is peak
@@uncleol an NPC gank fight is peak?
@@Al-ji4gd I'm talking about what the fight represents, you are too bogged down by gameplay too realize how important this confrontation is for the characters.
I LOVE the fact that you're listening to all ER: SOTE tracks!! These are so much fun
Those opposed in conflicting cause. A really emotional moment, especially if all NPC quests are complete. Shouldn't have had to happen, but there's no shame in dying for what you believe in. A desperate plea, a fearful cry, an innocent dream. Honestly Fromsofts best use of NPCs.
"The Enchantment Breaks" is a little song that's strongly connected to this one, I think it's worth checking out. maybe not by itself considering how short it is, but it's very good
Not gonna lie, my heart kinda sank when I heard it. The moment low register string went off I felt some shit will go down.
Finally a peak gank fight.
Still waiting for the Promised Consort...
YES PROMISED CONSORT PLEAAASEE
I hope he does a react video to it.
We need reaction to promised Consort …….
"You and i fighting, tragedy this is"
"Sir Moore, i do not wish to fight you but i have a new purpose i must see through"
Those lines are the perfect example of what is happening on the fight and the questline of the NPCs.
It's sad because it's a battle between people who should never have met. It's witnessing a slaughter that should never have happened.
"Righteous Tarnished. Become our new lord... A lord not for Gods but for men"
-Sir Ansbach
Those lines hit so hard because there's never an evil character or a villain in this story, even if Miquella wants to charm everyone, his objective still benevolent, he just wants to make the world a gentler place. In the end every single character in this battle is fighting for what they think is best for that dying world.
2:46 You could say the entire fight is a bunch of solo instruments playing together.
i still can’t believe a gank fight is one of the best fights in the DLC
This is more a storytelling than a fight. It's so emotional.
more like one of the worst.
The quiver in thiolliers voice when he says “I will stop Miquella the kind. He will never become a god” gives me chills
It sounds virtuous, I think, because everyone fighting feels like they’re on the right side. Everyone thinks their god/demigod is the right one. It’s a battle between a group where everyone imagines themselves to be on the heroic side.
Also, I think what From did was brilliant. It’s a small orchestra- you’re just fighting other humans. No demigods, nothing otherworldly. Just your fellow people.
No ones out here mentioning how hard Thoiller cooked in this fight, I found his questline naturally, and was completely blindsided when he spawned in roasting Leda
"You have no understanding. Of Kind Miquella. Of St. Trina's love.."
I didnt even feel like the damn protagonist anymore when he came out with the
"Not the finest blade, nor the mightiest armour... will spare your life. From the poison of Thiollier."
VA had a minimum 6 mortgages facing foreclosure for this performance.
To keep things brief, this is essentially the theme for a final NPC battle royale. Your character has been discovered for their motives for fining Miquella and many allies you started off friendly with are here to kill you. But through doing particular quests, some of the NPCs will actually fight with you against Leda and the others. It's the culmination of the DLC stories right before the final boss and at the end only you and whoever you teamed up with stand. Contrary to most other Fromsoft boss fights, there's no monster (debatable in the case of Leda) or powerful god here, just people determined to see through their ambitions in a last glorious stand . The music truly sells the gravitas of the fate that will befall these individuals
I honestly feel bad for all the NPCs who aren't leda or hornsent. No idea why they would side with her.
Hey, Leda isn't a monster. She truly believed that Miquella would fulfill a gentle age of compassion, and she was brainwashed by him. As for her wanting to kill the Hornsent and Ansbach, they were good suspicions, it wasn't right to kill Ansbach, but from her point of view, it was the right thing to do. I know, I'm just defending her because, I am the biggest Leda simp.
@@uncleol my guy, Leda slaughtered all of the other needle knights. I know she's hot but damn!
Dryleaf Dane is loyal to Miquella, Freyja wants Miquella to resurrect Radahn, and Moore is just helping his friends.
@@FireStormUnleashed
I got your point but I still believe she's an honorable knight (this being said I have a very unpopular opinion about what is honorable and what is not), even when Miquella's influence has been dispelled she remain faithfull to him because she truly believe in the age of compasion he promise. Even at the very end when she had to fight against us you won't hear a single bit of grudge and ressentment from her toward you and your giga chad Thiollier ans Ansback for deciding to defend an ideal of what is right different from hers and this truly something I find honorable (also I'm also a Leda simp so maybe m'y opinion is biased but I tried to be as objective as possible, btw I hate you fromsoftware for designing one of the most beautifull character you ever had and decided it would be fun to give her a helmet)
Hey, after you check out Promised Consort and Saint of the Bud, I recommend the Putrescent Knight OST. Super underrated IMO.
the most tragic moment in dlc
Davi its a group fight , Tarnished Ansbach Thollie vs Miqeullas followers. But before this fight we were all together - in common cause to serve Miqeulla (because of Miqeullas spell) and after it voided all start to have conflicts with each other. (sorry for bad english)
I love this fight so much. The emotional stakes of this fight after you've done the major character questlines just hits *different*.
People hate this fight because they refuse to do questlines and refuse to summon, but imo this is one of the greatest fights Fromsoft has ever made. It's not Fromsoft's fault that Soulsborne players' ego is so massive.
You start the fight alone, and then as the enemies start to overwhelm you, your own allies come in to help you.
DON'T YOU DAAAAAAAAAAAAARE
-hurt Miquella the kind! Me, Needle Knight Leda...
@@Spid4r1 Dryleaf Dane and our ally...

God in the end I hated that phrase...
Together we could take over the Land of Shadows and beyond it.
But unfortunately Miquella's fate does not align to ours.
We do it for St.Trina, Lord Mohg and Lady Ranni
And Marika
@@ittupelkele9918marika sucks
I love how resolute this track is. And while the opposition is just as resolute in their actions you can hear your player character respond with simply
"Lord of the old order or no, I will not submit to a would be god who would deny even his own being just to ascend. His world would be simply that of his own folly, no different than his predecessor. If you can't understand that....well my former compatriot there is nothing more that need be said. Come.
Those United in Common Cause, the cause that we are all fighting for something.
THOSE UNITED IN COMMON CAUSE When this song is played.
Those valiant opponents are the ones who were on your side, and you're going to destroy them.
I think that's what this song describes.
It's the group of people who were so valiant that they had to stand before you for their own righteousness and were destined to fall at your hands because they knew that you were the most powerful tarnished in history, and that this was destined to be a tragedy.
The alliance was tenuous, held together by enchantments now broken, destined to fall away.
Yet in the short time they spent together, they were allies, forged bonds and harbored respect for one another.
How regretful that they must stand across the dividing line from one another, seperated by their faith in the would-be lord.
I really enjoyed this musical score…I had to watch your video again back-to-back to hear it some more! So much going on instrumentally, but it all flows beautifully, and the music definitely transports you right inside of a story. It is like triumph and tragedy both singing their songs at the same time. Loved this, brother! Keep on rockin’! Boa tarde! ♥️🎼🎶🎵🎸🥁🎹🎻🎺🎷🪕🪘🪇
I love how the dlc music took a different path in a lot of ways than other fromsoft OSTs. These tracks stand out so much, they connect so well with the fights and this is one of my personal favorites from SOTE. incredibly emotional, especially if you did NPC quests and have ansbach and thollier on your side. Please listen to promised consort at some point! That track blew me away truly.
You will love the ost with the context of the voicelines, there's a really well made mix in YT, should be first result
Every other word from Davi: positivity!
Only words I can hear knowing the context of the song: Sad... Forever?
This fight caused me some crazy dissonance between what I was clearly supposed to be feeling and the actual mechanical gankfest I was experiencing. I felt like I was fighting the 3 goobers from that one DS2 dungeon while Order 66 was happening.
visions of anor londo
Because you were supposed to summon your homies for this fight. This fight is a clash between those brainwashed by Miquella and those who are trying to stop him. All of who were once on the same side.
@@lycanthossme being basically alone because i didn't use a guide to get Ansbach and Thiollier summons, just having Nathaan vs the full squad...
Yeah, this deserved the cheese treatment from me (mimmic and storm caller bleed weapon)
@calibula95 I got Ansbach without following any guides. Because of him + mimic, it wasn't a gankfest.
@@calibula95 guide? The quests in the dlc are simple in comparison to some of the base game. All you have to do is talk to the npc now and then, exhausting their dialogue, exploring.
Having experienced that fight, that piece of music feels so tragic to me
Listening to it, I recall how invested I was in all these NPCs questlines, despite not always completing them. I always tried to summon them for their respectives bossfights (Freyja to the Lion, Thiollier for the Putrescent Knight or Dryleaf Dane for Romina), simply for advancing their quests and see how they react to certain bosses and piece their histories together.
And having to fight them was honnestly heartbreaking. Because I ended up considering them my friends.
This piece of music encapsulates almost perfectly what I felt when I walked into that room only to find Leda challenging me for being the future elden lord of the Erdtree. I felt betrayed and...straight up sad.
We all waiting for Radahn consort ost. Keep up good work Davi, love your videos
Finally, my favourite is here. This fight is definietly the highlight of the dlc for me. So many stories connecting together in an epic clash. Never have I ever felt the sense of tragedy and heroism more in any of these games, even though I helped Siegward keep his promise...
Such poetry.
Man this song...like always the most chill songs make hit you into the feels. You basically have to face all your friends you did along your dlc journey and you know you have no choice but to kill them eventhough noone really wants this...such deep melancholy
7:55 I've been waiting for this reaction for the 2nd phase of this song. It's amazing how small the changes in tone starts to paint you a better picture of the fight.
This track obtains a heavily emotional charge based on the context surrounding the fight, but you still manage to get "heroic but tragic" and "last stand" vibes from this theme.
Truly one of my favorite moments in the DLC. Those who invests in the NPC quests are immensely rewarded here.
Lmao the dude menuing for the bolus, based as hell
At some point, please listen to Rusted Pride from AC6. Its pretty simple but really good
"If this is boss music, what are they fighting?"
It's each other. This is a group that was initially united, but then... They still mostly respect each other and find the fight just a tragic but necessary settliing of a difference of opinions.
It's not a boss theme, its an NPC fight where the characters you face depend on the quests you do and people you meet, it essentially acts as a boss fight though
the section this plays in is such a unique emotional climax for a souls game. the way they structured the story in the dlc is really great, and makes use of the non-linear structure of the game in a way that reminds me of dark souls 1.
I truly believe that this is the single greatest piece of composition that Fromsoft has ever produced. Everything about it is exemplary on how to utilize music to elevate a scene, or a fight, or any situation. It so perfectly encapsulates every feeling conveyed by this fight. Sorrow, anger, pride and regret all conveyed in a single piece of music.
"Sad?.... Forever?"
This is my FAVOURITE SONG from the DLC by far. It honesty makes me cry everytime I hear it, the gameplay and story implications is just sad.. The in game Dialogues just makes it so much better and worse at the same time as well!
Next up:
Romina, Saint of the Bud
Promised Consort
The two best boss themes of the DLC
A bit of context about this piece:
When you venture to the dlc, you meet a bunch of other NPC's, seemingly with conflicting backgrounds, yet they still follow the same path. You hear about their backgrounds the more you speak to them, you go through their individual questlines to get closer to them. At some point pieces of golden glass fall from the sky, because Miquella has shattered his great rune. In other words, the enchantment breaks. It turns out everyone you met had been charmed by Miquella to help him achieve his goal. After this charm gets lifted, all these characters' different backgrounds causes them to turn on eachother, almost all of them dying in the process, while this song plays
You definitely should try Malenia, Blade of Miquella next.
I was surprised you had no video on this track yet.
Great video!
Him: If this is a boss fight, what are we fighting?
Me: Friends... 😢
I absolutely adore this boss fight. It is easily the best gank fight fromsoft has ever done.
It reminds me a lot of how Motoi Sakuraba composes music.
Hiiiiiiii! Nice track, different. The feeling reminds me of The Final Performance from Grime, a big event with some tragedy or fate, the bells helped with that (beautiful context for that track). That's it. ¡Adiós!
I still warmly recommend The Putrescent Knight Theme, it also greatly strays from the usual boss track formula, my personal favorite from this DLC
You can find another version with the npc dialogues
I can't wait for your reaction to the final boss OST !!!
The real final battle.
What are you fighting, your friends...Your FRIENDS! Man that part was a NO NO NO NO NOOO Not all of you...PLEASE NO! moment.
I dunno man, you are saying all these positive feelings you get from the song and I can't stop crying.
you and MarcoMeatball should do a collab. You both do amazing song analysis, but in slightly different ways. I think you would make a great duo
i'm a strong believer that this song is a callback to the opening of elden ring when the narrator says "arise ye tarnished"
it's very similar
you will be surprised listening to promised consort radahn track. very surprised!
Delighted seeing reaction to this track. Am I the only one feeling lies of p vibes
Hello. Take a look at Yori the Inquisitor theme from Elden Ring DLC. It’s very unique and cool
Listen to "Promised Consort" next please!! The antithesis to "Starscourge Radahn"...sort of.
Nice episode.
Just cause the music from it is awesome, I wonder how you'd find with some of the boss themes from the Yakuza series, such as Twin Dragons from Yakuza 0
Hey Davi if you want a recommendation for your next reaction I would love to see you react to The Promised Consort, it’s amazing
Still waiting for Romina, Saint of the Bud...
The Promised Consort is coming.
Many of those united under one cause, now splintered "Those United in Common Cause" is no longer singular, our common cause against their's
Bro you gotta listen to “the promised consort” track from the elden ring dlc: shadow of the erdtree. It’s arguably one of the best pieces of music ever conceived in any of the fromsoft games!!
Give me that thing......your "Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree" ost reacton.
Hope you listen to "the promised consort"!!
I AM THE REDMANE FREYJA!
what is that thumbnail hahaha
We are forced to fight and kill our former allies, as tbey want Miquella to become a God, and we need to stop him...
very nice
Imagine this Davi, you all have a ideology, but like life, not everthing is black or white, and you know you have to defend what is right for you, in the end nothing in this World is Fair, not Life nor Death...
Dont You Daaaaaeaeare aproach miquella the kind
I kinda loose in that fight on purpose cause the soundtrack is that good.
Why Davi not looking at those footages? Poor editor putting them here and Davi just ignores him 😭😭😭😭😭😭
If you make it to that point
Since don't want to spoil I'll only say this much: pretty much the whole track is scripted to different characters' appearance. So basically Those United In Common Cause containts many little themes.
Can you please do Godfrey first elden lord
You didnt really analize the song. Maybe you just have a bad day or something idk. But I really like you hope next vids will be more to the depth.
I think it's a good analysis.
It's just a matter of position.
Positive, happy, nervous, sad.
It's really a matter of those
"NPCs who stand in front of unstoppable bosses".
And you're the boss.
this is not even boss
you are that boss
It is a fight vs a bunch of NPCs that you are supposed to feel bad for fighting them, but you don't really feel anything. Simply because you don't even know them.
Felt the same the 1st time as I rushed to the last boss, but when I spent time doing their quests the next time I played it had the weight it should.
whaaatt that fight was super emotional
Don't you 🅳 🅰 🆁 🅴 approach Miquella the Kind!
This fight thematically is my favorite in the entire DLC. It's so intimate and personal in a world that otherwise feels usually so far out of our reach
