Charlie Adelson Trial: Heated Argument Breaks Out Between Katherine Magbanua and Defense

  • Katherine Magbanua, one of the three conspirators responsible for the murder of Florida State University professor Dan Markel, took the stand on October 30 to testify in her ex-boyfriend Charlie Adelson's murder trial. According to Magbanua, she previously lied in her testimony when she claimed she "had nothing to do with the murder." However, during recent court proceedings, she admitted to lying to the jury about her statements made in 2022. In this testimony, tension between the defense and Magbanua escalated, leading to a heated argument in court regarding her previous false statements. Magbanua pointed out that "Charlie was the mastermind behind the murders." She is currently serving a life sentence behind bars, and if convicted, Charlie Adelson may join her.

The absurd thing, in my opinion, is that his lawyer's questioning makes one thing clear: Katherine Magbanua is not a criminal mastermind; she acted not only out of financial interest out of her own poverty, but later out of misplaced loyalty to the father of her children and possibly Charlie. She has consistently made bad decisions that have harmed her as well. What it illustrates is how much the multimillionaire Adelson took advantage of these people's poverty to avoid incriminating himself. I have a very clear picture of his client's character - and unlike Magbanua, there is nothing that makes me feel lenient toward him.

I came to say the same thing. no idea how the defense attorney thinks he’s going to make his client look good by bullying a broken woman who knows she’s in prison for life. I mean seriously, making her admit the only way she’s leaving prison is in a box? He needs to worry about his client who came from privilege and used that privilege to manipulate under privileged people (who obviously still made incorrect choices) to kill his brother-in-law and an innocent father of two children. What’s the attorneys angle, that Katherine was the mastermind? And if so for what? To impress or extort Charlie? Good luck with that.

The way this attorney keeps breaking his own stride by getting facts wrong is kind of astounding to me. He does this in every cross I've watched so far. Like, does he not have notes in front of him? Did he not prepare, so that the minutia of his questions wouldn't trip him up? No, apparently not. This lawyer has nothing to say and he's saying it too loudly.

The parents should be proud to have raised two doctors and a lawyer. As parents, we raise our kids to be respectful, God fearing, law abiding citizens and then we have to learn to let them go. These parents were puppet masters. The oldest son got away and that’s why the mother doesn’t “like him very much”. Very sad for all involved.

Before, anyone wants to commit a crime or a hit for hire murder, I suggest you sit down and watch any crime series and take notes as to how some of the crimes were caught.

32:32 - 32:39 Rashbaum: "You're screwed what do you want to do?" Charlie: "stick with the extortion defense." Rashbaum: "are you sure?" Charlie: (with hand motions) "I'm toast, go Braves."

It doesn’t help Charlie to point out all of Katherine’s “lies” bc most of them involve her talking to Charlie and them lying together so he’s just proving his clients guilt.
