The is the best review of these jackets that I have ever seen. Straight to the point without undo dramatics. I really like that you mentioned the weight of each jacket. It not only shows value, but also gives us an idea of what we will be carrying around on our body. Great job.
This was exactly the information I was looking for! Thank you for making this video. I love Klim but they have SO MANY different lineups and it is hard for the weekend warrior to make sense of it. This cements my decision - Baja S4 FTW!
Glad it was helpful! I am four years into my Baja S4 and it is still going strong. Love that jacket. I wear it all the time and use a Nelson Rigg Rain Jacket as my overshell when it gets wet or cold. Great system.
Good video. I had chose between the Baja and the Induction and chose the Induction, simpler, lighter, less pockets and extra features to me meant more airflow and cooler jacket for summer commuting and a little touring.
I have both jackets now and although at first I thought Induction was better I'm now liking the Baja better. It flows more down the collar/upper chest The collar design how you can fasten it back is really good for airflow over the Induction plus I normally wear an XL but could go to the L in the Baja.. it is a really neat fit which helps comfort and coolness. Next step might be to test the water bladder in the jacket... heard it pulls the jacket back and the collar into the neck unless you have the kidney belt on but I'll see for myself. Would be a great addition in the Australian heat.
I tried both . Baja definitely more comfortable . More space to my body , and the elasticity is much more than induction . Subscribed to your channel by the way
Color, I ride in the sun. Black is the last color I want to ride in. I would pay more for white or more hi vis just to get away from heat absorbing black.
Very informative thanks. What about trousers? I would need a hot weather summer pants to go with the Baja. Not sure if the baja pants are worth the difference compared to induction or Marrakesh. What would be your recommendation for adventure riding for a fresh and comfortable trousers?? Riding a GS 1200 at the moment thanks!
Good job! Based on your video it seems Klim thinks of the Baja as an “adventure” jacket with more street capabilities, and the Induction mainly as a off road jacket.
I have both. I find it's the other way around; Baja more hotweather adventure riding and touring - very flexible, marginally less airflow than the Induction. IMO the Induction is more suited for short trips and around town and seems to have a little more airflow than the Baja, but is a little less flexible. Wear a Macna cooling vest underneath either and Bobs-your-uncle. Temps here are topping 40C atm (about 105F), so the jackets are getting plenty of wear! Both jackets are great.
@@goldenchild4835 Thanks! I have never seen either so I was just going by the video. I don’t think your comment is really “the other way round” from mine. We both see the Baja as adventure and touring. I am a little unclear what role they see for the Induction now. The Baja seems like better gear.
@@oklahomahank2378 the Induction was their first stab at a mesh jacket. The Baja is the “new and improved” and it is much more comfortable and versatile in my opinion.
Hey Kyle- the elbows/shoulders on the Induction are 840D "high tenacity" Cordura.. I've asked Klim for some numbers on it but nothings available. All I know is it's got to be over 2 seconds from 70 kph to 0 kph in the new abrasion test for AA rating
Thanks for watching! I don’t have a latitude at the moment... but I do have this Klim Carlsbad Jacket vs. Klim Traverse Jacket Review for 2020. It should help! ua-cam.com/video/w-mir57EZMo/v-deo.html
Thank for the review, know it is 2+yrs ago but still helpful. Live in Phx and ride 690 50/50 road/off-road. Looking for one jacket that protects but I can still use in the 100+ temp. Is there other jackets you would advise me to look at along with the Baja? Just fyi 5'8" 160lbs 30" waist. Looking for pants as well with good knee protection but have issue fitting 30" inseam. Thanks for any feedback.
Glad it was helpful! The Baja S4 is my favorite suit. I just rode it 4k miles from So Cal to Sturgis and back... through NV and AZ it was 124 degrees on the way up and 114 on the way home. Whew! This gear is great!
Hello! Great review and comparison. I was wondering how much bigger is the xl size from the l size o. The Baja jacket? I also wear a large sometimes but more towards the xl ! Thanks!
Great question. They run pretty true to size... If you wear a Large T-shirt... I'd do a Large. IF you typically wear an XL T... go with the XL. I am 5' 9" tall and when I am 190 lbs a Large in the Baja S4 is a "perfect fit." When I am nearing 220... it is a bit snug but still fits better than the XL. Hope this helps! - Kyle
@manybikes , thank you for the information! A little extra question, please, as we look to be pretty similar size-wise and i also wear a large (currently a klim badlands jacket) with, as you said, a "perfect" fit - if you were to remove all built in armour from the Baja s4, and wear a MX armour suit under it, how would you then judge the L / XL sizes to fit? And also at leaner sub-200 vs a gym-ed up 225 condition? Thanks again!
Great comparison review! I like the style of the Baja and will be riding in AZ heat but very little off-road use.Is this a bad choice for an adventurer "poser"? :)
The Induction jacket flows a little more air as the mesh weave is thinner and lighter. You will notice a slight difference behind a 790 fairing as I do notice a difference behind my 1190 Adv R fairing / screen. - Kyle
Is the Baja jacket longer than the Induction? Hanging up, it looks more like a 3/4 length ADV jacket where the Induction looks more sport touring length.
Great review, always found the Induction jacket a bit too stiff, so the Baja is a big improvement. BUT the Enduro S4 rain shell is way overpriced. Better to buy the Scott Ergo jacket and save nearly £300. Works perfectly and very comfortable over the Baja.
I have the Induction and looked at the Baja. Induction is lighter and feels cooler to me. The Baja is a bigger, heavier, more "touring" style jacket. You sort of forget about wearing the Induction as it's no-frills and very free-flowing. For me a summer jacket should be simple and cool. I have another 4-season jacket with bells and whistles. Both jackets are still hotter than not wearing a jacket (obvious but needs to be stated).

That is said a lot... but Black is the best seller! Go figure.
Black is worn by nomads in desert because it is the best heat radiator just as white is best reflector I had white jackets got filthy
Very happy with my Baja S4
Fantastic! I too love it, it is my 3 season go to suit. I only wear the Carlsbad in the winter winter. Thanks for your support.
I realy like the way of your presentation. Big thump UP 👍

Very nice overview and explanation of the jackets!
belrix21 thanks for watching!
I appreciate the review. Thanks!
Yes Sir!
For those of us riding a lot in triple digit temps in the SouthWest the Induction jacket is perfect.
I LOVE the Baja S4. Have been in it for three years now. I have a rain jacket I put over the top when it gets cold or wet... just perfect.
@@manybikes which rain shell do you put over the Baja S4? Also, do you store it in the rear pocket?

The Marrakesh are like motorcycle yoga pants. Super comfortable… but I prefer the Baja S4 for a mesh pant. More durable and better flowing.

Pretty close to being talked out of the Induction jacket. Looking at other manufacturers because Klim is just more money than I can justify.
Of all of the KLIM line of jackets, the Induction is my least favorite. I personally would not purchase one.

Yes. Both have a droptail in the back but the Baja is a couple inches longer than the Induction. - Kyle
