Hi Bob another very enjoyable video. It's so refreshing to see old school fishing instead of go out and buy this that and the other. You prove you can catch fish without spending a fortune. Tight lines.
Lovely. I love rod and line fishing. Love float fishing. Some years ago everything revolved around the pole. Nobody was learning the craft. I used to pour over the fisherman’s handbooks as a boy. Then I taught my kids to course fish. So much to learn and try. Then came boileys and Argos pole kits. The splash of a gob-stopper like bait a few feet from my swim (launched from the other bank). It put me right off. This series is classic and might get me to dust off my gear.
Thank you. Feedback like this makes filming and producing the videos worthwhile. I think it’s fair to say that we’re on the same wavelength as far as fishing techniques are concerned. I find many aspects of modern angling quite alienating but that probably reflects my age and the fact that I started fishing as a lad over 60 years ago. It’s all got a bit too technical and certainly over commercialised these days. I hope that you decide to ‘dust off your gear.’
Great video Bob and some lovely fish. I never go fishing this time of the year without bread, sweetcorn, meat etc. Maggots are hopeless but saying that dead maggots can be good little fish seem to ignore them.
Thanks Derek. I’m not a great fan of maggots, bread probably being my preferred bait, but occasionally I give them a go. I’ve never tried dead maggots so thank you for the tip. It’ll be back to the rivers soon when flake, paste or meat will be my choice.
