- Опубліковано 8 чер 2024
- Today we finally assemble our N55 engine out of our budget $1,000 2011 BMW 535I X Drive F10! This is a pretty in-depth guide on how to assemble the N55, unfortunately, it is missing some of the bottom-end assembly as I did not have to do that in this build. A List of tools used for the engine tear down and build is listed below on Amazon!

Next video in the series is out! ua-cam.com/video/TPkJrKx2ibA/v-deo.html
It's so cool to see all that goes into repairing a vehicle and making it beautiful again! I had no idea.
Isn't it crazy that engines are just pieces of metal containing little fire balls!?
You're so gifted in explaining things for anyone to understand. Such a great video! keep it up!! :)
Sometimes I think I should've been a teacher. But then I remember some peoples kids suck...
Watch M539 Restorations on N55. Had same issue but he replaced that cam bad adjuster which was making noise and issue was resolved.
Alright I'll check that out thanks! Currently hoping it goes away with oil pressure as I've read that in a couple places.
That's the locking pin inside of the vanos unit... I'd replace it. These should be tight and play free. Any play can result in engine lag or vanos codes.
I agree I ordered a new cam adjuster just to be safe!
I follow M539 restorations for quite some time now. But I'm unsure if he ever did a video on the N55. Could you tell me which project it was?
@@allesundallgemein7411 He had similar issue with Maserati cam adjuster recently. But didn't work on car with n55 yet.
EIN & AUS had me cracking up 😂 greetings from germany✌
I've been working on my German ascent 😎 Glad you're here!
Shawnzey Racing, This is amazing! I can't stop smiling!
Happy to hear it! 😎
I am so impressed by your knowledge, skills, and dedication. Watching all these F10 videos has been an awe inspiring treat. Thank you so much. Very educational and unique. Eagerly looking forward to the final video(s) where you bring it all back together and bring it back to life. Good luck. Good work. And I hope you are feeling better.
Thanks for the well wishes! The first drive video should be coming out this week!
You are SO dedicated! Wowza!! Love to see it.
Thanks hopefully I can make this dream job a reality!
Im astounded at how complex this engine has turned out to be. Even the process of timing the engine seems over complicated... engineers man
I mean you only need 3 separate tools to time the engine that's not that bad right 😂
Keep it up man your channel will grow
Thanks so much man I'm hoping so! I really enjoy it and it would be a dream to do it full time for you guys!
Keep it up man! Great content! Had N55 as well great engine but very picky))
Thanks so much man! I have a lot of fun making these videos and it's even better when you guys enjoy them! This is my second N55 and I definitely agree with you lol.
Well done!
Thanks! 😄
Best degreaser ad I have seen. I need couple of them like right now 😂. 👏
I should get in contact with Gunk ASAP lol
40:17 It will jump like that because the spring inside the VANOS variator is not strong enough to hold the valve springs below the camshaft. Normally you have oil inside, not air and oil is not compressible.
I test this theory in my upcoming episode! I won't give anymore else away 😎
I you manage to ask M539 he should know about your clunk noise
Not a bad idea! Maybe he'll leave a comment here helping me out 😆
I feel like he had this same issue and went ahead and replaced all the VANOS units to be sure it would function properly.
Yea I went ahead and order a new cam adjuster just to be safe!
He indeed had this kind of problem recently. If you look at his third last video (so part 2 of the Maserati), the "Looking inside a 187k mile Ferrari engine", starting at 31:40, he encounters a somewhat the same problem, a clunking noise from one of the actuators. I know it's a completely different engine, but if you keep watching for a bit, you'll see that he fixed it with another used actuator. So I think you did right buying a new one, with the engine in the current state it is still a quick swap. Just make sure it is an OE actuator, aftermarket parts and BMW's don't go together nicely.
For sure! I bought a newer style BMW one so hopefully they are better with the newer design! Appreciate you commenting!
Planning on buying an f10 which series you think is best
If your going to buy an F10 I would suggest trying to get a 2013 or later as those are the face lifted LCI versions!
🎉
Party time!
10:25 that was 180 Degrees 😁
Yea! The short ones are 90 and the long one is 180 :)
its normal for that cam gear to click since it has no oil, when oil fills in it will not click
You know that was my exact thought. But a bunch of other comments told me it was bad... So I ordered another one just to be safe. So I'll put it on but I'm glad someone else had this thought and not just me.
@@ShawnzeyRacing its absolutely normal to make that sound,i had same on all my rebuilt n55s
Fun surprise in my next video regarding this noise...
As a fellow N55 owner i let the commercials ride this bitch is expensive to fix :))
You're my favorite, I appreciate you! 😂 I'm going to need sponsors to keep this up!
The cam adjuster is bad an needs to be replaced
I will most likely order another just to be safe
Bro drop the video more consistently
Sometimes you just gotta wait for parts ya know. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Shipping was late :(
Bro are you deaf?
