I think where it said one double crochet over two double crochet, it means to decrease by crocheting the two stitches together.
That’s what I was thinking as well after seeing the next few round add less after the first 18 singles
Yes definitely a decrease!
Exactly this. Sounds like an Invisible Decrease to me! And then the stitch count appears to be going down after. It pays to have started with amigurumi, I guess!
One single on next two, wouldn’t that be a decrease?
I was shouting at the screen they mean "SC two together to make a decrease"
Me2...😂😂
You say that sometimes we are screaming, “No! That’s not what they mean”. Yep. This time I was. 😅
I was liking the bone crochet hook. I remembered my grandmother crocheting rag rugs back in the 40’s and 50’s with a wooden hook that she had whittled out herself. The rugs were beautiful
I would love to see that!
So cool! I crochet mostly with lace thread and those teeny steel hooks. It's crazy, how small chain sts are with a 0.4mm hook!
Girl, girl, GIRL! I have become addicted to your videos! Because of you I have learned so much and am branching out my crochet skills and patterns. I have also been binge downloading vintage e books to try my own "mystery crochet" items. Thank you for your inspiration, tutoring, and just plain fun to watch videos. You are AWESOME-- keep up the amazing work! ❤😊❤😊❤
Oh for heaven sakes that is ADORABLE!!! You did a fantastic job on that. As many trials and errors that happen through a pattern, the final result is just stunning. Great video
round 2...1 sc over next 2 sc of proceeding round? basically a decrease of 1 stitch
Yes I agree. I sc dec. Working 2 sc together
I am totally addicted to these videos now, lol. That baby boot is so cute!
The picture looks like it has another row of the shells in the front.....it would match the top better. But fantastic video, you did an amazing job of 'translating' the pattern.
I have never left a comment on a page before but I just wanted to say that you should try rubbing your bone hooks with a piece of wax paper. Works great.
What a great idea 😊👍
That would make a cute mini Christmas stocking, for a small gift.
Or for your tree
@@karenvalenzuela2277 Well, sure, but I don't believe in leaving stockings empty. :)
That's what I was just going to say. Just add more stitches to increase the size and it would be so cute!!
Great idea.
I’m screaming “decrease”. 1 sc over next 2 sc for a decrease of 1 st.
i'm glad i'm not the only one XDD
@@koira163 same here...lol 😂😂
It wouldn't be a mystery if it wasn't a puzzle! Well done for figuring it out ❤
Instead of masking tape, should use painters tape. It lifts easier because it’s made to lift off instead of sticking to.
Or scotch magic tape. It looks invisible you can write or use a sharpie on it and it definitely lifts up.
They also make highlighter tape that works quite well. Works even better if you slip your pattern into a plastic sleeve first. Then no masking tape, painters tape OR highlighter tape will lift the ink off of your patterns.
When I made mine I worked 18 rows of ribbing to start. Of course I had the picture to count 9 ridges! This made the 10 red stitches work out perfectly on each side of instep. Hope this helps others!
Amazing but I wouldn't be able to figure these older patterns out.
That would make a cute Christmas stocking
But as an ornament!!
You're a brave soul for taking on these "mystery" patterns. And vintage, antiquated patterns. 😊 The wording and old style pattern would totally frustrate me. LOL
I love that you're willing to figure them out, it seems they are rather like putting a puzzle together with a crochet hook! What a concept, seeing it come to life..have fun...❤
Wonderful job, Corinna! That little boot is just adorable! Thanks for sticking it out and working through the pattern. You know I've always loved your mystery vintage pattern videos and probably always will. Thanks for this really fun one! Looking forward to the next one!
Now you know how that hook got bowed 😉
This would work as a Christmas tree ornament or Christmas decoration. I’m really impressed you figured out this pattern.
I really love it! You're so patient about understanding the instructions. I would have given up!
Make a circle inset for the top and it would make an adorable Christmas ornament!
That would make an adorable Christmas ornament.
I kept hearing the bone hook squeak on the yarn which is why I don’t like to use them. That would be for a skinny baby but they’re cute!
You amaze me! Working through these old patterns is hard. Congratulations on what you achieve 👍👍
Why do I want so badly to crochet a medium high heel on it? I want so much to make it look like a granny boot, instead of a granny sock!
Those fancy, lucky babies would be so cozily warm! Adorable.
I want to make a pair in black for my cat for a "puss in boots" costume ❤
Great idea, but * Good Luck * actually putting them ON a cat ! LoL.
You are far more patient/persistent than I would be with this pattern. I think I would have thrown the pattern and the booty across the room about the time you switched colors.
Round 2 = I think you are to decrease 2 stitches. 19 and 20 into 1 and agaih inthe last 2 into1
It’s so cute! You missed the Row 3 of trim down the front though. I would suggest doing the trim as row 1 up the front and around, row 2 down the front, row 3 back up the front, then rows 2 and 3 around and then the 2 more stripes.
How friggin cute is that, so much work but how cute would it be for a holiday ornament?
Thank you for another amazing video!!!
What a cute little boot. Stuffing is a great idea so it can be displayed. Congrats on another successful creation. ♥
I wouldve added 2 perhaps 3 white rounds on heel side to fix my mistake first and then start the leg bit. When they said 16 more rows you should've done 16 more. And at reducing rows I think you skipped 1 plain row and you could've perhaps gone up to high when grabbing the sides on top of foot
Oh they are so cute. I can see those lucky bonneted babies wearing them. Clever you it turned out great. ❤
Your patience amazes me. The boot is adorable!
So that's the left bootie. And-oh, those Victorian pattern writers!-it's left to the ingenuity of the reader to puzzle out how to get the trim up the front to face the other way for the right bootie...
Adorable, looks just like tiny spats!
I can't handle the suspense!
What an unusual way to explain decrease! Mabe that word 'decrease' wasnt around in a dictionary back then? I so remember the first time i watched you n you figured out on that solomon st how to increase! 🎉🥰
I've recently found your channel and love it! I'm at row 3 with you shouting "decrease!" Hahaha. But you figured it out. Can't wait to see what it is......😊
wow your understanding of the vintage patterns and patients to work it out is breathtaking, i have just come across your channel its so exciting ,i am sorely tempted to skip to the end to see what the item is ,so far i have resisted, lovely work.
That means decrease....😊
I'm dying! 😂
Interesting how the thread squeaks on the bone hook. Just a thought, the trim might be easier to do before closing up the back.
Hahaha. Well let’s make it happy!!! Depressed row! Hahahaha. You made me laugh!
You got me wanting a bone crochet hook so bad but I know they are so slim I’ll tear my hand up
This is sooooo sweet looking. Love the skewed perspective in the book that baby boot is huge compared to the ladies' hood next to it.
oh goodness! how adorable!
You nailed it! ❤ So stinkin' cute!!! 👣🧦
YOU are amazing. The Sherlock of crochet. However i think there had to be a maid system to take care of the basics of life so the person had the time to do this incredible pattern. I love the comment “and so on…
I would have to have all the blacked out places available as clues. Vintage patterns are hard enough to understand without making it more difficult with the blacked out places. I have a couple bone hooks. They are so special. I love your videos. Thanks so much for sharing!!
That's adorable.
Very cute, didn’t see this coming when you started this pattern
I would make these for a Christmas ornament or a bigger sized one for hanging Christmas stocking with a Victorian Christmas theme
It's okay 🤣👍 you got it 😊 I'm thinking of making these as Christmas stockings 😜
So glad you got the pattern out to finish it, as you said you couldn't finish without knowing where to join.
I am very used to working with these kinds of old patterns in both crochet and knitting. So when it took you a while to figure out the "decrease" directions, I got a little antsy. However, you crochet very prettily, with a nice tension ❤😊
Love the boot. So so Victorian. Would like the pattern
That boot is so cute. It would look great made in football colors for games.
Cute and challenging pattern.
Corinna, I have many steel, crochet hooks which belonged to my grandmother. Most are “Boye”, some I cannot identify except for the size. However, there are 4 labeled, “Milward”, Made in England, two size 9, one 8 and one 7. Also, have 1 labeled “Shamrock”, size 5 with a sleeve that fits over the hook and another “Hero”, made in England, size 9. Are you or anyone else interested in having these? They will end up in a landfill someday otherwise.
You may just need to recondition your bone hooks with a little bee's wax and a buff. The end result of the pattern is lovely. I hope you will make the second.
Adorable!! Definitely a success. God Bless
One sc in the next depressed rib, well let’s make it happy 😃 hahahahaha
Oh I wish we could do the dress on next page! It looks cool!
If the bone hook is bent, you might be able to heat it up and rebend it correctly. I think it would be steam to make it pliable and then you just have to hold it in position. A heat gun should also work and probably a hair dryer.
I just bought this and three other patterns looking forward to making a pair
It took me forever to realize that they were decreasing stitches by crochet 2 together with that wording in another pattern.
Also, bone and ivory needles and hooks can dry out and crack. sometimes they can be re-surfaced with a very fine grit sandpaper and a bit of wax (like CarboWax), but cracks will continue to form if the relative humidity is below about 40%.
Comming home from my job, pretty exhousted, an than finding a new mystery pattern video is just haeben. My well needed break.
I am excited.
Well a booty makes sence...they are cute, you are right, they are very easy to adjust to bigger sizes! After finding out what is ment in the pattern it is pretty easy. Thank you so much for figgering it out. I gues the boarder should go on both sides of the middle (going down and up) so you have the look of a real boot.
This is such a pretty pattern but it was so frustrating to see you struggling with the first time you encountered decreases haha. As you read it you got confused and not to toot my own horn here but I figured it was a decrease as soon as the pattern split 18 consecutive with 1 over 2 and then 9 consecutive. I had a whole argument with you for like five minutes until you figured it out lol
Success!! Adorable!!
I love your Videos ❤
Ahaha! I think I would have had to have taken a ruler and a bit of tailor's chalk to mark the straight line up for the trim cause otherwise I fear mine would have resembled a drunken sailor's path. It turned out darling!
Another wonderful video, Corinna! I love having your videos on whilst I'm working on projects. It feels like I'm crocheting with a friend 😘
I bet if you sewed it closed first then made it go around the back you could use the trim and buttons to close it up making it easier to put on.
I promise no yelling at you. You conquered another one! That red is BEAUTIFUL! Did I miss you saying what it is? What is it, please? If I missed it, it's entirely my fault, and I'm sorry. I've read in the comments about the decrease issue, but I think the commenters might be wrong. Later in the pattern it says "without increasing or decreasing" so the pattern writer obviously knew the term and would have said so, don't you think? Love & hugs, always.
🧶 Happy Friday everyone! This came out so cute 😊
Thank you so much for that 🤗🤗
What a cute bootie! I imagine a person could make slipper boots for an older child using thicker wool and a larger hook.
You gained a sub , girl! This is so fun! Watching you try to decipher these old patterns. I would not have known that double crochet actually meant single crochet in us terms so i would have had a mess. I totally get it, I work with vintage tatting patterns cuz thats really all there is. Most modern tatting patterns are based off of the antique ones. If you can figure out Mlle. Riego, you can tat anything.
Single crochet 2 together
Observation of the punctuation is important, especially in old patterns.
My new fav channel
Very cute!!!
Nice and lovely boots you struggle but finally made it!! I think with a perfect color combination you got couzy warmy trendy boots. Thank you!!
Very Lovely
That’s how they say decrease
Look at you! You made a slipper! It’s beautiful. Please show us how to crochet a fancy Easter hat for a woman!!!
So cute
Love starting out my Saturday mornings with you. I laught till I cry. You are fantastic. Very entertaining and educational. Don't change at all please. It would be a cute Christmas ornament. Good idea. 😅❤
Hello Corrina, this baby stocking came out cute. I can see a little baby wearing this, and having it come up over the calves of their little legs. And if this was made out of wool it would be very warm in cold weather. Thanks for sharing this pattern and video with me and others on UA-cam. Looking forward to the next video.
Oh my so cute !! I'm glad you revealed in mid way just to hard to figure out , great work Girl !! Any size can b made , Thank You for this !!!
I love this bootie. I’m tempted to make these for my non-existent grandkids 😂
