    I took a Friday off, to head out to Dublin, CA for my first rides on Indian Motorcycles. My last ride was on the Springfield Dark Horse. It was reminiscent of the Road King, but unique in its styling. Come along for the ride, and my impressions.

    Great bike, I switched to Indian in Nov. and got a regular springfiled (2018). 17K with incentives and Indian military and first responder discount. No regrets!

    The exhaust notes in sport mode are pretty exquisite 👌 it looked a little easier to steer than the Chieftain did, but probably because there wasn't the big fairing to reference visually. Fun video, and it looks like you had a great time that day on all the demo rides ☺️

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  5 років тому +1

      Yeah, I think, naturally, the lighter and faring-less Springfield was easier to handle than the Chieftain. And, riding this bike and the Harley Road King Special for me was more fun than the Chieftain and the Street Glide. But, just my personal preference.
      I love demo days. You'll have to let me know if you and SFW are interested in joining me one of these times. :D

    That was a good review and running commentary. It was almost as good as being there. Wait a minute, I was there! LOL.
    The Chieftain that was in the line-up had Indian's Thunder Stroke Stage 2 Performance cams and would account for it being a little spunkier than the Springfield Dark Horse.
    I was the guy leading the pack on this run. I had a few alternate routes in mind, but they would have ended up being 45 minute test rides and I'm pretty sure I would've gotten yelled at when we got back to Arlen's . . .

      Yes. The nice, defunct Vision. LOL.
      Like every other Victory owner, I was pretty irked when I read the news the day they made the announcement. But when I rolled the bike out of the garage later that morning to go for a ride, she started right up, so I realized the world really hadn't changed all that much.

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  5 років тому

      Yeah, the bike is pretty pricey, but even in comparison to the Road King Special (which I've also ridden, and is pretty similar), it is a few thousand cheaper. I'm in the same boat as you, though, and likely will never be able to own one. Nice to get out on a test ride though, and at least see what I'm missing ;)
      I appreciate the compliment, as well. I try my best to get familiar with the bikes I ride, not just for the review, but because I love motorcycles and like to have the knowledge. Thanks for watching! :D

    • @thatoneguymoto

      It was really fun! As far as OEM, I don't think you can do heated grips or audio. I bet there's some aftermarket stuff, though that would work.

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  5 років тому

      Donovan Bredenhann I'd say the styling on the Road King Special speaks more to me. Both bikes were really nice to ride. Similar performance from both. So yeah, it is a difficult choice.

      @@sportglidejim9001 the Indian has a full rear fender if you ever need to remove the rear bags....the road king has partial fender hidden by the bags...so they need to stay on or it looks odd...just a nice little note to point out when deciding between thetwo

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  5 років тому

      *EDITED* Yeah, I really liked the styling (sans the windshield). I'm not sure if the the Springfield Dark Horse has the rear cylinder deactivation. I had planned on riding the Chief Dark Horse, that does, and they didn't have one on the truck. It doesn't mention it on the spec sheet on the Indian website, so I'd guess that it does not.

      As a Harley rider, go with the Indian. They're so superior in engineering, design, looks, and they're soo much smoother. Plus, you don't have the "doochebaggery" that comes along with the HD and their sales reps and customers. Next summer, I'm trading in my FatBoy and switching over to Indian. Indian has a very bright future.
