Another spectacular video of a day fishing! The aerial view is so dialed in, love to see their behavior with the fly and showing the predatory side of the carp. Great landing on the one that suddenly got complicated.
Haha thanks, pretty lucky too. No margin for error to trigger a strike. Usually sunners aren’t worth spending much time with, but it’s fun when you can get them to react. Not on Echo, the entire east side of the lake had a ton of debris, so I drove over to pineview and caught a couple bass and a few more carp. I amending up the footage on Echo, looks pretty good. Would have been better with more sun and less pitchforks, did you and you boy get into any more?
Do you find the carp are feeding more during one time of the day then another? Mine just seem to patrol and suspend, they jump from the water occasionally and I see them rub underwater branches a lot but do not see them tailing or sucking anything up
Yes, but it changes as the year goes on. When the water gets above 70 degrees, the mornings and evening seem to be better. Below 70 degrees, the hottest part of ten day is best. There are a lot of factors though. When the water is warmer, look for areas where fresh water is coming in, some kind of inlet, they tend to congregate around those points and feed heavily.
I use a Blood knot. I do have tippet rings, but I just don’t like them. I wouldn’t be afraid to use them if you are comfortable with them. I’m just old school maybe and they weren’t around when I learned and I always seem to have issues with them. But I have some good fishing buddies that swear by them.
@@carponthefly8282 All this time I was thinking you are using 12’ total…. I need to practice out on backyard and see how I can practice with that much line. Can you make us a video for techniques on how you are casting so smoothly with 16’ of leader/tippet? I noticed you don’t back cast at all when targeting the fish. How far are they when you are casting at them? 40’, 50’ ?
Just brilliant excellent shots by the drone fantastic
Thanks, I will do some more with commentary and pointers soon, but I have been enjoying just the visuals lately.

Thanks, they really are such a cool fish. Thanks for watching and commenting.
The way you ended this video was spot on !!! Impressive video editing!!!
Thanks a ton!
That first cast was insane! Did you get into any more at Echo on Friday?

Do you use a tippet ring? Or just a blood knot from the leader to tippet?

Wait so on a 12’ leader you add another 4’ tippet! So effectively you have 16’ from your flyline to the Fly?!
Yes, that is my most common setup.
