Very interesting about waiting to be able to see the head in cloudy water.
It won’t work everywhere, but there are several locations I fish where this is a good technique. It’s some times hard to make yourself just sit and watch, but in these spots it’s far more effective than casting just at shadows or bubbles.

0:48 like you mentioned in previous videos, dropping it in front of them will usually spook them since actually carps have a pretty big blind spot in front of them.
A piece of advice if I may, after setting the hook the carps are much more easy to control once you lower the tip of your rod to the water surface, I know that that is counter intuitive as a fly fisherman but in a match environment where you are having fisherman left and right every 40 ft you have to reel in your fish kinda straight. If your fish ends up in the next peg and goes over you neighbor's line, then you have to release the fish as a penalty and that is why the playing is done with the tip right next to the water's surface unless you have major snags between you and the fish. If you keep the tip up the fish feels like it's being pulled out of the water and since no fish wants that it will fight you 3X harder disturbing the swim in the process.

I appreciate it. For now I’ll stick to just having some fun making the videos, sharing some tips,
and catching fish. I did guide in my younger years and may again someday. For now though, it isn’t something I am looking to get back into.

I believe this one was on my DJI mini 3. I have the Air 3 as well, but it’s harder to haul with me. So I use the mini more.
