Thank You!!! I've been having a stuttering issue with my laptop's RTX 4060 while playing GTAV with the FiveM app. I couldn't figure it out - I'd clear my cache, check my settings, turn on/off the MUX switch - couldn't get it to stop. This video helped me to clear all of the stuttering up. It's gone and the game runs as smoothly as it should with an RTX 4060, I9-14900HX with 32GB of RAM. That is, the driver is necessary for the system to establish a connection with the audio device connected via the HDMI port (connected to the graphics card). If your computer hasn’t installed the virtual audio component, there will be no audio in the output of the HDMI."
Continued: Whether to uninstall NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM) driver depends on your usage. If the HDMI of your graphics card is connected to a monitor without speakers and you don’t want it, removing NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device doesn’t make an impact. If the monitor has speakers, you cannot remove it since the audio cannot be transmitted.

If you don't slim out your GPU driver _(from all that filler that comes with it)_ - you can get all sorts of weird bugs like that. I started to do a slim version _(besides undervolting, input lag registry hacks, and other stuff)_ of every GPU driver update I get long ago _(I also update only using "late" version as well - v535.98, v536.99, v545.92, ect)_ - and I haven't encountered any bugs *whatsoever* for many years. Even though the fellas at nVidia forums are having major _(fps, stuttering, ect)_ issues - I don't, despite having the same HW with the same driver version _(as them),_ and playing the same games. Most likely because they just do an "express install", with all those bells and whistles, which mutilate not only the 1%/0.1%, but the input lag as well. And the best part is - leaving _(before you install the main driver package, not _*_after_*_ it!)_ only the digital audio and PhysX _(besides the required driver itself, ofc)_ will let you use *all* the GPU hardware perks, like RTX, NVENC, PhysX, CUDA, AI, DLSS, Reflex, ect _(tested all of them myself)_. All that still is working on both old cards _(done it with a client's GT 620 today)_ and new ones _(my RTX 3060)._
@@ItzMojoBear I use DDU to remove all the nVidia stuff _(the driver itself, PhysX, Broadcast, ect)._ Extra hustle is minimal, as I do that only once in a while _(I use _*_late/stable_*_ versions only, like v535.98, v536.99, v545.92 and so on)_ - not when every single minor driver update/hotfix hits the web. And during install, there's no need for custom - as the driver is already slimmed down *beforehand* _(i.e. it doesn't even contain any filler besides the video/audio driver and PhysX, so there's nothing to deselect)._
@@Vitaliuz I might have to try this again I’ve tried so many drivers and replaced pc parts new monitors and cables and even a repair shop and they all have the same stutter every few seconds ingame and this never happened before I updated a driver and then reinstalled windows trying to fix the stutter instead of just rolling back like a smart person would’ve 😭
@@ItzMojoBear A fresh Windows install is always a good thing. =) Especially if it's a stock bloatware-free MSDN build. But the thing is, microstutters _(by nature)_ are usually a CPU thing, instead of GPU. And there are a lot of stuff (like built-in Windows bloatware, background apps, various overlays, and so on) which can eat up those extra CPU cycles, causing stutters. It even comes down to CPU C-states - I usually leave the CPU in C0/C1 state _(paired with promote/demote threshold and time check interval tweaks)_ for the same reason of mitigating stutters. There are, ofc, a lot of other tweaks aimed to fight stutters and unstable frametime graph - but "boosting" the CPU usually has the highest potential against those. All of that can be checked via monitoring tools. Just be sure their overlays won't tank the fps, and disrupt the frametimes by themselves.

Nice tip. Never used audio from videocards, will check if that is affecting me. I always use nvidia reference drivers, never specific to card OEM. Would that prevent this issue?
It is not a manufacturer issue. All the drivers on eg.: msi or gigabyte website are byte to byte match with nvidia drivers. The only difference is the i2c devices for rgb , pwm controller or other stuff that are reachable trough the cuda api. Propably just a bug on your side.
I could see this being an issue with the Windows Update drivers. I've had sooo many instances where the Windows Update drivers have been super buggy and had terrible performance.
Also on FE and had issues with nVidia HDMI sound output from my TV, sound was ...well non-existent. Upon reinstalling the driver (custom and not "express") without the HDMI driver, the TV has sound again.......yeyyyyyyy :) That was few months ago, but on every driver update that came through, I`ve disabled the HDMI - motto, don`t break/fix what`s already working
I know a case of a guy who had a 4090, new. He got artifacts whenever he played Apex Legends if I remember the game correctly. Literally both companies work fixes in every release.

More tips and tricks would be really nice, as well as your SUGGESTIONS for card makes/models - even though I'm sure you probably hate them all hahahah. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Just a random thing I wonder, I see the card is running at PCI-E 1.1 with GPUZ? Does that maybe cause a communication, bandwidth restraint and maybe cause the driver stuttering when it has to worry about calling the audio decoder as well as the video? I honestly have no idea, just was a random thought while watching this video.
It is ASPM power management to save electricity. Tbh, it looks like not all cards even support this feature. At least i cannot make it work with my card, no matter how much i try. Not that i need it, but i just wanted to see result. Ah yeah, maximum power saving mode in Windows brutally affected my wired keyboard, making it extremely slow to react on actions even after quite small periods of idle time. (Like 30 seconds to detect first press). Should've not been that bad in theory, imo, but there is that.
@@northwestrepair nope, no troubles, used to have trouble with Dolby Atmos for home theater cutting out, but that was driver related, only took them 2+ years to fix it

Do you use ddu to uninstall all or what and then just custom and hit only driver and physx?
Especially if it's a stock bloatware-free MSDN build.
Just be sure their overlays won't tank the fps, and disrupt the frametimes by themselves.
ive done that as well like 7 times using both cloud install and usb fresh install of 10 and 11 to try still the same issue idk what it is but im at the point of buying a new pc tbh sadly.. its a 3090 ti too so sucks to upgrade now@@Vitaliuz
Is the double fps just in synthetic benchmarks? or programs and games as well?
its sound clarity related. It can be noticeable, it can be hard to notice
Oh my god, thank you so much. I've been facing a ton of performance problems with my RX7600 and I think this single setting might've just fixed it. Thanks a ton.
Bro pls help ive upgraded from a gtx 1060 to a rx 6700xt im getting more fps in all game with the RX but a lot of stutering and in some games like forrnite it unplayable but im getting 350 fps
@@peacequest2 I dunno about fortnite, apparently it hates amd gpus so it might be that. But I would recommend capping the fps in adrenaline at around about 144 and see if that helps any
@@peacequest2 install afterburner and rive tuner , youtube knows how
then set a fps cap to your monitor's refresh rate ,
in-game uncapped fps always ,
it's like letting your gpu Think it's giving it's all and then just capping it off to be in the zone , stable and relaxed
no stutter in any game if you do this in the global section off rivatuner...
with some games you can go double fps even if your monitor doesn't handle it ,
fast-vsync in nvidia panel or amd and it just works at double fps somehow
if you have a 144hz , try 288 fps cap , if that doesn't feel right , go 144 , Should feel right
Nice tip. Never used audio from videocards, will check if that is affecting me. I always use nvidia reference drivers, never specific to card OEM. Would that prevent this issue?
SPdif optical out for a sound bar, I always used ARC in the past, great quality tbf. But now I have mobo mid-tier audio I might as well use it.
It help me a lot. Thank you very much
good tip for people actually having this problem, kinda sad as I tho its something new. keep up the good work!
My MSI motherboard comes with 4 different audio cards separate of the GPU so Im definitely trying this lets see if it works
Also on FE and had issues with nVidia HDMI sound output from my TV, sound was ...well non-existent. Upon reinstalling the driver (custom and not "express") without the HDMI driver, the TV has sound again.......yeyyyyyyy :)
That was few months ago, but on every driver update that came through, I`ve disabled the HDMI - motto, don`t break/fix what`s already working
I know a case of a guy who had a 4090, new. He got artifacts whenever he played Apex Legends if I remember the game correctly. I looked into it and it happened to be fairly common, and I wondered why there are so many fanboys throwing shit at AMD when Nvidia also has driver problems all the time. Literally both companies work fixes in every release.
Yeah this has happened to me, I disabled all the extra sound related stuff and it fixed it.
Unplugging my headphones and observing the change in my fps helped in identifying.
you unplugging your headphones made me remember when I was little and did everything I could do to squeeze more performance out of an atom d525 so I could play minecraft with more than 20 fps 😂😂
Wow thank you so much !!!!!!!
this guy might actually be the goat, went from 80ms frame time to 11ms frame time and a 100fps increase in cs2 from this fix. Can't believe it actually worked lmaoo
you are the GOAT thank god is subscribed!!!!
wow thank you so much it fixed instantly
Thanks for the info
nice tip. its a uuseless thing anyway if you are using other sound devices so its good practice for those looking to optimize to turn it off even if there is no problem
Would this fix game stuttering too? I get stutter without really a drop in FPS
love this tip! do more pls 👍
Many Thanks! It worked
SO basically if I am using a headset or a Soundsystem that is using the sound device of my keyboard, I do not need the graphics card audio driver at all, right? Wouldn't it be better to deactivate them even if you don't have stuttering or low FPS issues?
Grat channel btw. I subscribed
if sound is clear, dont bother.
I'm on Win10 and mine is only showing NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM), Realtek(R) Audio and High Definition Audio Device. My motherboard is Asrock and it uses Realtek which is up to date according to there website. Should I disable the other two?
something so simple... i just did it with my 3090ti and i cant believe i had a boost in performance in benchmarks.... lol what a strange issue. i never noticed it because.. well.. its a 3090ti, and it just kinda powers thru everything as expected. but the benchmark numbers have improved. wild! thanks!
bro I thank you i must be that 1 percent u were talking about my game doesnt stutter as much now maybe once in a while buta huge improvement Thank u
If you disable the sound from the hdmi, does it disable the sound on VR headsets on DisplayPorts?
HDMI is not displayport, so it shouldn't...
You can move signal DisplayPort to HDMI directly, but you must use converter to move signal from HDMI to DisplayPort, as HDMI encodes it differently
bro you are fucking brilliant. I NEVER have nvidia installer do my audio driver, i hate the fact that it's even there, but this seems like a really good way to make SURE it's putting no resources into audio, as it should be.
This could be the issue yes, I would suggest he re run the test with a PCIE 4.0 board
It does go to 3.0 speeds as he runs heaven benchmark its just using pcie 1.1 for power saving.
@@scrubsodium Nice catch that I didn't see. Great point.
Should've not been that bad in theory, imo, but there is that.
its not loaded. it will switch as needed.
just wow i didnt know that hdmi audio driver kills the performance very nice
I use HDMI for sound 😒, I will try, see what happens, but I don’t see me giving up HDMI audio unless there’s significant gains
It will help only if you have a problem with sound clarity.
No problems with sound ? No effect.
@@northwestrepair nope, no troubles, used to have trouble with Dolby Atmos for home theater cutting out, but that was driver related, only took them 2+ years to fix it
I`ve tested on mine, and its all ok but thats a nice tip!
Thanks BUT 😢 what if I have a Dolby Atmos system that needs HDMI digital audio? :c what happens?
..Disable HDMI Audio or HD Audi driver may solve the problem,
but the reason this happends is that for some reason the Graphics driver software interrupt
and the HD bus driver interrupt arre on the same physical core and thread...
...this interrupts can be moved to be handled by different cores and threads...
..i wont give any information that can mess upp the os for anyone, but if one wants it can be done, and its the real reason for the dropout in audio/video frames trough HDMI
You telling me I've been rendering audio with my GPU all this time just to... not use it? Wow....
if you dont have a problem with sound clarity, this wont do you any good.
I have an astro headset. So do I disable all the audio things there but my headset ones (Astro Voice and Astro Game) and call it a day?
Nice one man!
Love this video, I'd love to be able to do this to my MBP 5500m which throttles harder than Ghostrider. I know, I know, what was I doing spending 2.5k on a MBP when it gets hotter than the sun just trying to power an external monitor.... - I got punk'd.
You thought apple won physics by getting all that stuff in a small chassis and 90w power supply? Every other gaming laptop and serious workstation maker are just stupid? No, you are. The guys at apple won your money, not engineering challenge.
My mbp 2011's graphics card died due to overheating after throttling it's whole life (and giving abysmal performance) and that was with 3rd party software to ramp up the fans to 100%
Does this apply to gaming too? It seems to do nothing when playing Fortnite, I'm still experiencing drops in big cities and the jungle from 144 to 90-100 fps...
Hi, great video, like other. Can y help me with program (which program you used?)to programing ir chips? I have ir35217 on 6800, but it is chip from vega, and i need programing it. Thx for help 😉
Was there a sound problem when you run heaven for first time? Because I can definitely hear static. If so, is this another symptom of this particular problem?
Oh lord, first at all Thank you, i got GPU 3800 - I513600K - 32 GoRam - Z690 GAMING X DDR4 - Quest 3. i'm doing simulation, X Plane 12 in VR, the boost in performance is superb. fps most stables also. and stuttering reduced ! again MERCI
So normally I don't have issues on my PC, but a few days ago videos in general started stuttering on random intervals.
This somehow fixed it? What does NVIDIA High Definiton audio actually do?
Anywho, thank you for your help!
Is this a problem on amd and possibly intel, or only nvdia?
when I tested it made 0 difference.
work 100% this nice dude! fix my pubg more fps average and less stutters freezes thanks
