It goes to show that even a cheap kit consisting of drum shells sounds stellar when given the right treatment. Very informative video! Cymbals however, I think you need to invest a little bit of money in to get a nicer tone, but again for a complete beginner who may be new to drums, this seems like a great option and blew my expectations away!
Hi Michele. Thanks for the comment. I totally agree, especially about the cymbals. And there are some great budget cymbals out on the market. //Simon
as always, what makes the real difference is the drummer
Great video! LOVE how much you can change the sound with little work! I will surely do this to my kit.
Sounds great. Thanks!!! //Simon
I just bought a Eastar set for myself and will definitely do what’s been done here! Stay safe!!!
First like then watch - rule number one on thomanns drum bash 😉
I like this attitude 😅😂 Did you like watching the video though? //Simon
@@ThomannsDrumBash of course - tuning videos r my favorite
I like and skip
That kit is almost as good as any higher end kit. It sounds really good
I sincerely love this tuning. Would be great to get the tune bot numbers!
what mics are you using for this sound check? look like Senns? im sure the sound guy EQing matters too. besides the skin & tuning tweaks done.
Does the 22" bass drum sound any different. I would have went with a black pinstripe remo head
how you tune your toms?
What about the eq and compression?
What is the model number of the tool kit ??
I wish I could get half the sound out of my Yamaha Stage Custom Advance. I optimized everything: heads, resos, tuning and my cymbals are a lot over my skill-level. And there is the big point: I am a bloody little beginner.
Hi Markus. Please don't give up. You'll get there i'm sure! Let me know if i can help with something! //Simon
Bro the thing for drum heads is that my drum heads which came with the will not tear i can not buy new oness
It is indeed impressive, what tuning and a good set of drumheads can do for your sound. My drum teacher always used to tell me this as well. I am wondering, why you didn't choose a CS Black Dot for the Snare head?! EVERYONE uses a CS Black Dot!! 😃
Hi Chercht. That’s a pretty good question but I think I picked the Ambassador Because it‘s a little thicker than the CS. What are your favorite heads? //Simon
@@ThomannsDrumBash I usually choose clear or coated Ambassadors for toms top, Diplomat for toms bottom, Powerstroke 3 Coated for bass, CS Black Dot (of course :) ) for snare top and the thinnest diplomat for snare bottom (for a nice crispy snare wire). But I have to admit, I never went through all the manufacturers and models, I always kind of sticked to my former teachers recommendations. Somehow I never wanted to try Evans or Aquarian heads, but I always see some of them on other guys drums, so they can't be that bad. 😁
@@Chercht sounds great. Good choices. Maybe we‘ll do a video with all Remo heads compared? Would be cool.
I‘m actually not a big fan of evans heads and never tried Aquarian heads 😅 //Simon
@@ThomannsDrumBash Sounds like a great idea!
Millenium MX420 Studio Set BL plsssss😭
That drum set have float mount?
Hi Lorenzo? What do you exactly mean? //Simon
@@ThomannsDrumBash on toms ?
@@valcic1993 yes. I think so. I‘ll double check with the product Management on Monday. //Simon
Cheap but good hardware hmm
I can’t make my drums sound like anything because I have to use silencers 😫. And whenever I take them off I get caught and am told to put them back on. They cover the head.
I‘m so sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can take something out of this video anyways? //Simon
Oh I definitely did thank for the video! Thank you for sharing.
Against the suppression of drummers! 😁 I think everyone of us knows the struggle of playing in a small club and being constantly told to play quieter. Well, nothing against dynamics, but for dynamics you need to have both loud and silent notes. Maybe consider another rehearsal room. ;)
@@Chercht I meant playing at home.
@@yeetfeet1878 Okay well... I guess there is not much you can do about it... ;)
I Like the sound out of the box better... there was a magic dwarf inside ? ...Upgrade to two dwarfs and IT becoes a Ludwig
Tuning and damping are important , except with my e drums 🤣
I feel you man. I have to use drum silencers that cover my heads. You can’t get the real sound out of your kit. It’s pretty much an e-kit with real cymbals
True😂 Although with some e drums you also gave a dampening option in the module. //Simon
@@ThomannsDrumBash 🤔
The big problem i have is tuning the toms no matter what i do they sound like cheap plastic i literally have to the toms from my old drum set cuz they actually sound like toms 😞
Hi Josh. What drums do you play? //Simon
@@ThomannsDrumBash i play the pdp encore drum set
@@Dmoney2times51 Ok thanks. //Simon
My advice for beginner: buy the cheapest drumset on second hand market and invest in good cymbals!!!! You can always tune drums but not cymbals...
I really like that advice! Thanks for sharing! //Simon
Man you’re fast! I just posted my comment 😅
Wanna hear them without the mics
You don’t need an expensive kit to sound good, just buy good heads, tune them well, and you’re ready to go, instead invest in good quality cymbals, some B12 will do (like Zildjians S series), they are not so expensive, mid range, and do the job.
Zultan
yes....but it is mics sound...
You can change drum heads, tune your drums, but the shitty cymbals will sound always shitty 😂😅
I agree. But for a total beginner i think it‘s a great option. And after half a year of playing you can invest some money in better cymbals, don’t you think? Since when do you play the drums? //Simon
Yeah Simon I totally agree with you. I play drums for more than 15 years
@@mihaidrums5 Oh wow. That’s amazing! What kind of musical style do you prefer?
@@ThomannsDrumBash Everything from pop, r&b, funk to jazz, rock and prog... I don't like the music after 2000, I'm more of a vintage guy )) Also I really like your drumming style Simon and this channel! Good luck!
Cool. I‘m kinda the same when it comes to music :) thanks a lot. Glad you like it. Have a good one!!! //Simon
Imagine if all the greatest drumming records ever made were made with millennium or whatever cheap drums. Literally nobody would notice or care. So much snobbery and bullshlt in the drummerverse. I would argue that even with the stock drumheads the drums didn't sound bad at all. It's all in the tuning
