I test drove both a FWD version and the SH-AWD version and the FWD seems significantly faster from 0-60. I got a rush when I punch it and I didn't get the same feeling with the SH-AWD. I thought something was wrong and I took the FWD for a second test and I got that rush again. It is possible that there is added weight for the 4WD that makes the difference. Both cars have the same 272 HP and one is definitely feels lighter. I have seen others that tested it at 5.7 seconds. I have asked the dealership to order a FWD Aspec for me if they can find one. For those that are thinking that I am missing out on the Super Handling, I live in Chicago, no curves anywhere so I won't miss it that much. I like the feeling of a stronger acceleration. If they can't find the FWD, I will still be happy with the SH-AWD. Please note, the SH-AWD of the past was matched with a 290 HP V6 (Type-S 355 HP will be something). Of note, the P-AWS is gone for 2021, but since I had a RSX Type-S with headers at one time, I became very good on a track at tossing the Type-S hard into a curve effectively drifting the car. I tried it with the TLX and I toss it in the same way, probably because it is lower to the ground than my 2018 TLX. It was quite fun. I also took the SH-AWD into a hard curve and it was fun too. One is fun in one way and the other is fun in a different way.
I bought the SH-AWD and drove a FWD as a loaner while mine was in the shop, and I agree. The FWD is punchier and feels lighter (because it is), but understeers on curves and turns. The front tires also slip if you push it too hard from a stop, while the SH-AWD obviously has better traction. I will also say that, for some reason, the SH-AWD sounds better and more refined than the FWD - like, they have a different tone completely. Could be because my SH-AWD is an A-spec and my loaner wasn't, but I've never heard anything about the A-Spec modal being given different pumped-in sounds. Anyway, I agree with you that if you live in an urban area, SH-AWD is not worth the extra upfront cost or the lower gas efficiency. But if you live in the suburbs or somewhere with curvier roads, it's definitely a fun option.

I am looking heavily at Acura now. Lexus dropped the ball in a major way by not having ambient lighting in their vehicles. I was willing to purchase one just to sacrifice that feature but I can no longer do it after watching this.
How does Honda Civics/Accords have better wheels than a luxury performance sedan is beyond me... Other than that, Acura is finally doing something right for once.
Agreed the wheels are so.... bad? The last A-Spec TLX was great. They are so chunky? And I’m convinced Acura forgot about the radar system and added it in quick with that plastic piece. Why?? Otherwise, love the car.
@Der Schwindel 7 seconds is what MotorTrend got on their test. 5.9 sounds more correct and that's not terrible, but not great either. Just about every other car in its class is faster though.

I have a 2020 accord sport 2.0 Turbo and I wonder is the transmission the same as the one that's in the acura. Are they geared the same. I find my transmission to be immediate and intuitive in the accord
Not ready to call this TLX a "sports sedan" - It has below average acceleration, frustrating paddle shifting, and marginal handling. The new TLX is a nice overall package and strikes a good balance between sport, luxury, and efficiency. It is a big step in the right direction for Acura especially with KIA and Hyundai stepping up their game. But not a sports sedan. The 4 cylinder germans: BMW 3 series, Mercedes C300, and Audi A4 outperform this car and are closer to being sports sedans. This is why the Germans have tiered their line-ups. The Germans let you choose from 3 variations of most of their models... 4 cylinder / sports / full send batshit crazy. When the S Type arrives in spring 2021 with its 6 cylinder engine and dialed in suspension/transmission...that will be a sports sedan. Acura will not offer a full "M" or AMG version - its not their style.
@Liu Kang Kixx Thanks I did get a great deal which made the decision easy. It's nice to be in a new car on the plus side of value for a change. But as for the Type S it was never going to be affordable for me or I would have waited. It's 50k+ payment car is out of my league and on it's first year so it will be a MSRP or higher seller. So maybe in 2 to 3 years I might be able to swing a nice Type S.

This car would be perfect if they took the design of the 2021 Aspec front and merged it with the back of the older 2018-2020... not a fan of the rear on the new one.... I own a 2019 a-spec black....

@@robertblack6630 but for 15k + compared to a 2.0 accord sport doesn't make it a better value. You can get a fully loaded touring for 34k otd. Your Essentially paying more for a sound system, double wishbone setup and awd but its slower then the accord. For the money the accord is a better value for sure. More interior space/ bigger trunk more practical, better gas mileage, better acceleration. If you can an aspec otd for 40k it would ve worth it, but it looks like it will be closer to 45-47 k otd. For that kind of money buyers are going to cross shop this with a lexus, BMW, audi or mercedes. Which makes it even more difficult to justify price when the other cars offer better fuel economy performance and practicality, with the only real downside veing reliability. If this was priced about 5k lower it would justify the value.
@@drmvp21 the accord drives like a boat they made it to big in the rear and the fastback look makes it have blind spot issues. I had a 2018 2.0 t sport I hated I couldn't see very well behind me driving or parking. Loaded Touring Accord doesn't drive as refined or have the visibility of the 2021 TLX A-spec. Let alone the interior isn't as nice looking or of same quality. Also lack of all wheel drive is very noticeable in handling. As for price a loaded 2021 Acura TLX A-spec at 44k has more features, drives better, with All Wheel drive. Compared to the 37k Touring accord and better warranty with all wheel drive. 45k is the advance model for some old guy that needs every feature. The key to Acura is they always have better cash incentives so a lease or purchase will be about the same a month. Something Honda doesn't do with the Accords except every so often like this year they had a lease incentive of $750. In the end to each there own but the Accord a nice family driver total waste buying a Touring and the TLX is a true Sports sedan with a base model at 37k with more standard equipment then 33k Sport se 2.0t accord 2021. Where your prices come from idk because a 2021 accord touring is 37k with destination. Your price is back when I bought mine in 2018.
@@robertblack6630 i have one. It drives like a boat compared to what?? It is actually a very composed capable handling car with minimal body roll. Its has much better handling then every car in the class and its curb weight is also the lightest in the segment. You can get a touring otd for 34 k if u actually negotiate. I got my 1.5t sport 26.5k otd and was quoted 30k otd for a 2.0t sport. And a true sports sedan?? It weight 4000lbs. The better value is the accord. The aspec 2.0t with awd is 47k. Thats awfully expensive when at that price point opens open tons of options. Its going to be a hard sell at that price. They need to take 5k off every model. But who knows maybe when you negotiate they may be willing to deal. Also it has a backup cam so if you cant park it its cause you can't drive. Visibility is fine out the rear when your driving. Touring has blind spot monitoring so idk what your referring to in reference to poor visibility. The fact is pound for pound the accord is a better value. Better straight line performance probably similar skid pad performance, you can still get leather. Better gas millage. More interior room. All the Honda safety sensing. Your just paying for awd, an interior and a sound system for the new tlx. Worse mpg, smaller interior. Worse infotainment system. The pricing is too high for the differences when you can most of the features in an accord for 10k less. Is the tlx a better car?? Im sure its probably better but 10+k better IDK.
@@drmvp21 since I driven 2020 accord and 2021 TLX it's obvious you haven't driven both and don't know how the Acura drives. The fact your using MSRP on the TLX but instead your using what you paid for your Accord years ago which has changed in price next year says alot. Your not comparing the same year car, style, or price. I paid under 24k for my 2020 A Spec doesn't mean that since I didn't pay the almost 33k MSRP it should be the new price for everyone. The accord is a boat compared to what it used to be as a true midsize car back 2017. It's almost the size of a Crown Victoria now just built with alot of light weight aluminum. Also your Rear back up camera works like crap in the rain has nothing to do with a cars poor visibility issues when you want to use your eyes which doesn't help you in the rear corner's unless you get a Touring model. I am looking heavily at Acura now. Lexus dropped the ball in a major way by not having ambient lighting in their vehicles. I was willing to purchase one just to sacrifice that feature but I can no longer do it after watching this.
i hit "like" when you raised the roof lol 😂 nice.
😂 I’ll take it!
How does Honda Civics/Accords have better wheels than a luxury performance sedan is beyond me... Other than that, Acura is finally doing something right for once.
Looks stunning🔥🔥
Agreed the wheels are so.... bad? The last A-Spec TLX was great. They are so chunky? And I’m convinced Acura forgot about the radar system and added it in quick with that plastic piece. Why?? Otherwise, love the car.
The review is just awesome. Hooked.
Sport sedans shouldn't take 7 seconds to go from 0-60.
@Der Schwindel 7 seconds is what MotorTrend got on their test.
5.9 sounds more correct and that's not terrible, but not great either. Just about every other car in its class is faster though.
@Der Schwindel Elevation plays a role.
Sports sedan with a fwd based awd, lol no thanks
@@tsampson1632 "Just about every other car in its class is faster though"
not true, as per C&D...
Genesis G70 does 0-60 in 6.6s and 5-60 in 7.7s
Mercedes C300 does 0-60 in 6.1s and 5-60 in 7.1s
Acura TLX does 0-60 in 5.9s and 5-60 in 6.5s
...the TLX's acceleration is fine vs it's competition
@@TheBreakfastLover Idk where you get your numbers from, but Acura's official 0-60 time for the TLX is 6.5 second. Mercedes' official 0-60 time for the C-300 is 5.7 seconds. MotorTrend, the same people reviewing the TLX and got 7 seconds, got 6.2 seconds on the G70. Having a 2.0t that is running above 6 seconds 0-60 is pretty bad nowadays. G70s gets a pass since they're built around their v6 platform though.
Ummm acura 3rd gen was from 04-08... 07-08 was the type s years. Still probably the best acura sports sedan
Yes i got 2007 Acura TL dat drop ball on 09 to 14 year TL and the tlx came out it was ok but 2021 TLX 👍
Yeah I have two TL Type S, White 2007 Blue 2008. They both have flaws but still pretty reliable and still gives you spirited . Haven’t owned them long but my plan is to keep them for at least 10 years . . n feeling on street and highway
Honda's luxury fleet of vehicles is turning heads out on the streets with Acura SUVs.
Wow, it's really clear where BMW got the taillights for their new 2-series!
I Love This Car is Faster is Awesome Than a New Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400
Great video! New sub!
Awesome! Thank you for joining in 🙏
Not a fan of the red interior, especially with the blue exterior. Red would go better with the white or silver exterior imo.
Man the colors of the those rims are weakest point in all trims unless it was silver which always stand out and was in their 2006 award winning model. They still look good
Then Cadillac shows up with 472 and 668 hp CT4-V and CT5-V for slight more money than 355hp Type-S!
I have a 2020 accord sport 2.0 Turbo and I wonder is the transmission the same as the one that's in the acura. Are they geared the same. I find my transmission to be immediate and intuitive in the accord
It is most likely the same transmission, but with different tuning
Marginal handling??
Acura consistently a step behind 👏
In their upcoming type S they better bring the bar up a bit.
They need it to be successful.
Love everything about it except the length should have kept it the same as the 2020 hoping they give the ilx a new interior and engine for 2022 model.
How did you get a hold of the car so quickly?
I drove it on the 30th when I ended up buying the 2020 ILX A spec instead better deal for now
As a journalist, I can sometimes get early access to new vehicles. I drove this car on 9/21, it just took a couple weeks to publish the review 🤷♂️
19:45 Im not sure but I believe (from seeing other videos) you dont necessarily have to swipe. If you want say the top left icon. Then touch your finger on the top left of the pad. You don't have to swipe to if that makes sense
If that’s true, then that would make things much easier. 👍
Does it have 360 views or is that only with the comfort package that removes the aspec package?
360 is part of the Advance package that removes A Spec, yes
According to J.D. Power research data, 65% of TLX buyers are men, matching the average for the Compact Premium Car segment. They are slightly older than average (58 years of age vs. 56), and they're making less money than average,
I want to love my Honda’s again but until this comes with at least 350 hp I’m out. My 2017 340i is a full 2 seconds quicker and that’s a lot!
This car would be perfect if they took the design of the 2021 Aspec front and merged it with the back of the older 2018-2020... not a fan of the rear on the new one.... I own a 2019 a-spec black....
More money than the last one , 150lbs heavier, slower , bigger on the outside but super small on the inside . Not to mention the FWD honda accord beats this TLX in handling, braking , acceleration, MPG , interior volume + cargo space and price .
Sure, get an Accord if you don't care about style, materials, technology, etc. It's not even in the same realm as this vehicle.
@@dansourile5444 Actually it is . The materials are no better , same goes for the technology and performance. I sold these cars for 6 years , the acuras have always had worse materials that just looked like they were better . The leather in acuras was always peeling and cracking after 3 years . The TSX was a great car though.
@@Spiritcr1jsher okay, well that isn't the experience of any of the many Acura owners I know. That's really weird. I've driven both and it's not even close.
That sound system is not on the tech package. Regular ELS is though. Not the 3D
Thanks for the correction 👍
Good looking car
Great review, this new Acura is beautiful.
I’m glad you liked it!
Nice miles keep going
So sorry I forgot to give you a shoutout in my last Live Q&A but I will this Friday!
@@MilesPerHr no problem
Hi.. Plz could you try volvo S90 2021 any of T class..
Thank you.... Talal Almowalled from saudi arabia
I will try!
I didn't know they had adjustable dampers on the A-spec unless you can adjust the non-adaptive dampers via the individual mode.
There no adjustable dampers on the A spec trim just on the model above it. Talk about a huge mistake for the 2021.
Acura is a real sport sedan.Amazing video presentation.!!!!/Frank-Slovakia/
Acura needs to do better... better yet Honda as a brand needs to do better I hope the type s gets less plastic and more leather
Are you high? This car is amazing
I have heard different reviews and they are mixed some like it some not impressed at all that's why it's good to go and test drive for one self
Agreed! Always a good idea to experience one for yourself. I also have POV Drives and Walkarounds to let you experience the car without any talking or opinions 👍
Those that aren’t impressed seem to expect this to be more like a Type S even though the Type S is forthcoming
I drove the 2021 TLX A Spec was very impressed but still bought 2020 ILX A Spec because I got it for 23k. Where the TLX was at 38k with very little price drop because it's new I was willing to wait get it ILX lease for now wait and see if the put reactive dampers on it in 2022.
Very detailed. Kool
Call me a freak but I'd rather knock 300 off and give me steelies. Not premium but better than those wheels
Wish we had that in Asia
Great exterior color. Nice interior color. But who in their right mind would spec a car with both together. The blue need a gray or blank interior.
Agree. If I was going a spec I’d go white exterior and red interior.
Is the v6 no longer available?
Not yet, no. A new turbo V6 is coming with 355hp in the Type S this Spring
Love that warp speed novid vaccine grill. Also available on the 2021 Type BS. Model
Wait till the type s v6 turbo way better
What was your observed mpg?
I was just below the EPA combined estimate with a fair amount of city driving
Check out AHC garage here on youtube, they put body kit & vossen wheels on this same color car, really nice
I’m wonder how this new design tlx call sport sedan it has long body wider than previous . Driving this car like boat
Much better chassis means it is more a sport sedan than the previous generation
Agreed. Kidding me with those wheels. Damn shame
Yeah the wheels are not acceptable, my 18 aspec wheels look better, & they had the nerve to up the price
@@djsthemetereman they completely redesigned it on a brand new chassis with double wishbone suspension and made a lot of improvements in the looks. A modest price bump isn't surprising.
@@dansourile5444 This is true but I wound up getting the 21 TLX type s in tiger eye pearl & it's been a blast to drive, now those oem wheels are nice but I still put aftermarket wheels on
The Key is super old they should of been rubber because the service department likes to throw the keys around and scratch them up.
Love the blue
It’s gorgeous
Hey get your info correct..lots of incorrect information about the car, package features, etc. Nice car. I drove it already.. it's a bit heavy and sluggish off the line.. its weighs too much ( almost 4000 lbs. )
The stereo is Insane...I like the sport mode driving... I'll wait for the type S.
John Fraioli “It’s a bit heavy and sluggish off the line.” One, it’s not meant to be a supercar. Two, cars aren’t all about 0-60 times, twerp.
@@speakingtruths4215 hey why you so rude. 1: I never said it was a supercar.. ( far from it) & said it's just a bit sluggish off the line cause that 4 cyl turbo is working too hard to pull this heavy monster. Go get yourself laid & MYOB you uptight goon.
What is incorrect, specifically? Nothing was cited here in your comment
👍🏻 Acura
Pros: Very pretty, cool colors, great suspension
Cons: Heavy as a Dodge Charger, will lose $30k in 3 years.
it'll lose more like 15k
If you plan on trading it in 3 years ,yea you will lose that amount probably . If the keep the car past 3 years you would care less about resale ...keep some money in your pocket 👍🏾
Besides It will outlast the charger tho ... Remember its a honda
Where's the round exhaust tip on the A-spec
Sadly those are reserved exclusively for the Type S
But it could be for a good reason... 🤷🏻♂️
Acura is still playing it to safe. The Aspec isn’t sporty enough. BMW M sport adds more performance than Acura Aspec. No upgraded brakes calipers and crappy 19” wheels with touring tires on it. The Type S needs at least 400 hp. Just not enough to pull me away from current vehicles
BMW 3 series Sportline compares to Acura Aspec, BMW M sport compares to Acura Type S....
Don’t get the blue and red not looking right 😳
Stop complaining about the touchpad. You said that if you lift up your finger then it will discontinue your touch point on the screen.. sorry buddy nothings perfect. it’s similar to your computer screen to wear if you don’t continually touch your screen then it won’t respond.
How much do you think this will be in 2025
Acura’s hold their value reasonably well, so perhaps $10-15k cheaper?
Nice video but your audio is very low need improvement
This guy really thinks that his big water bottle would fit in the cupholders or in the center consul.hello! It’s called a cup holder and not a big water metal container holder.
Lol. Honda is about functionality over refreshing the AC control unit.
This is Def a case of looks better in person. Would still wait for the type s personally tho.
A sportier AWD 10th gen accord touring
I like the blue and I like the red but I ain't Clark Kent so these colours don't belong together
😂 it’s definitely a personal taste thing. Not my cup of tea but I can see how some would like it
Brand new car. Paint is already wrecked.
Those wheels are terrible. They look like they were an afterthought two seconds before showtime. I mean, they're amateurish.
That bottle gives me anxiety.
And it gives me comfort - like a baby's blanket

Should of been a coupe
Eww those wheels!

The rear legroom is such a laughable 😅😭😂 joke this should’ve been a two door coupe! 😅
It's not bad. I could sit "behind myself" easily (I'm 6'). Making it not a coupe was smart - now it's a car a family man (me) can buy. My 3 kids fit easily.
This car is too heavy as a former TL owner the Accord is a better buy.
Have you driven both I owned a 2018 2.0t accord and drove the 2021 TLX a Spec it's smaller for one. Also sorry the accord was a boat buy comparison. The TLX is 10 times the car. Drive both then comment. The accord quality isn't in the same league.
As I said ones a family car that used to be true midsize car, the other is a compact sports sedan wierd that you can't even properly compare the cars.
