See my initial comment. The Camry is NOT, I repeat not a luxury car, even in it's highest XSE trim. Comfortable, but not luxurious. I've own several over the past 20 years, so I can tell you that with first hand knowledge
This was a good comparison. Not for cross shopping. But looking at each having things the other doesn't, it makes the question of $10k more pretty interesting.
Thats the case for all luxury cars. A friend of mine bought a certified pre-owned, fully loaded 2017 Acura TLX for $24,000. Incredible value for money.
there arent that many of them and they'll probably be floored a lot causing faster wear so you're not really saving buying used when you need to pay for potential repairs from being ragged on by the previous lease owner. people who lease are basically car renters and they will rag them.
Yeah I have the 18 aspec in red & have been getting compliments ever since I first got it, this new one went up in price, & besides that I like mine better, & my exhaust is modified so I don't see myself giving mine up
I’m pretty disappointed with the lack of rear seat room in the TLX. I was pretty excited about considering it for my next car, but I really want to be able to have adults in the car with me on occasion… And that rear seat is just too small
Well these are two different segments of cars so the differences in performance and features will be expected. The TLX A-spec is worth the $10,000.00 price difference. But the Camry is a solid buy for what it is. Plus a 2021 Camry XLE v6 should offer enough luxury and appearance in addition to the V6 performance. looking forward to a comparison between the Acura TLX A-spec and Lexus ES-350. A comparison between the Mazda 6 signature with the TLX would be interesting too.
If I had to choose between the two, I’d definitely take the TLX. More stylish and sporty for my liking. My only issue with this Camry in the very long run would be changing the hybrid battery so another reason to take the TLX.
ki0ng Maybe, but that would depend on how well it’s maintained, and if there’s any premature issues just like they had with their 5 speeds back in their 2000-2003 TL models that come up.
The way prices are going with the Corolla and Camry XSE trims they are starting to get into the same price range of an entry level Luxury cars (Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, etc). So the real question is is a Corolla worth $25,000...and is a Camry worth $35,000?
Their starting prices arent that high. You are talking a FULLY EQUIPPED model vs. A stripped down luxury model. You take your pick. Is a civic type r worth $37,000?
@@q-bert6454 Well if a fully loaded camry (pano sunroof, 360 camera, heads-up display, red leather seats, heated/cooled seats... ETC) with a 3.5L v6 is not worth at 35k, then something like an entry Mercedes C class with no options (no pano sunroof, no 360 camera, no heads-up display, no leather, no heated cooled seats...etc) with a 4 cylinder is DEFINITELY not worth it at 40k. Right? It says a lot when the Accord 2.0t, which costs less than the Camry, beats it in a drag race even tho the TLX has more horsepower. I'd definitely wait for the Type-S so it can compete with the Genesis G70😂
If I have to pick between the two, Camry easily. Most mainstream economy cars are rivaling luxury cars in their top trim nowadays or with brands like Mazda, which imo has an even better interior than both of these. Of course it more fair comparison would be TLX vs ES F Sport or IS350 AWD (which is the one I would get between the 4).
“After hoping out off the car” the next day, lol. Or did you have to match the interior of the Acura. 😂 great comparison! For 10,000 I’d wait a few years for a gently used.
how do you know its gently used. take the engine and trans apart to know? lol people rag these cars if they lease. its like a rental car to them, for fun. cars that are driven hard isnt really a deal, they're worn out. the metallurgy isnt invincible in the drivetrain as people may think.
Good Review as usual< Great comparison. I did the same comparison myself. I did this on the 2020 Models. The difference with my deal on the TLX 2020 with A Spec and Tech package, compared to the XSE Camry was less than $3000. The TLX had all the standard features included, and items you could not get on Camry. Both were the four cylinder models. After three months of driving, still very happy with my choice.
I'm looking to get an XSE in Blueprint (Gas, 4 cylinder, FWD) with all options except the sunroof. I bought my wife a Lexus RX350 but I'm not interested in Lexus because the rear seats don't fold down. This video cements my decision to buy a main stream car vs luxury.
When Sofyan closed the door to hear the sound while in the Acura, I quickly thought to myself...."Is he really bout to close the door and mute himself? Then, he kept talking, the audio stayed." Then I thought to myself....."That was pretty damn cool."
For me, I'm all the way going to pick the Acura TLX, but the Camry is not a bad car at all~ I think both cars offer something different in this segment that many people will like. For me, again the Acura TLX blows the Camry XSE out of the water for its cool design, nice interior, and nice driving dynamics, but it is not really a comparison that really makes sense, and depends on what people are looking for. The Camry however is great for practicality and simple use, which I know a lot of people like.
New made in Japan 2004 Acura TSX manual now with 89,000 miles puts a smile on my face every time. Hell of a car! You get much better paint, uses 1/2 qt oil every 4 to 5 thousand miles unlike our same engine Civic SI, 1qt per 1500 to 2000 mi. More refined ride, quiet cabin, etc. If you plan to keep it 15 or 20 years it's a no brainer. Considering the TLX base model, wish it was still Japan built.
Why would you consider an Acura over Arteon? This is an honest question as I like to understand the reason. I think Arteon is way prettier inside and outside & high tech too with digital cockpit, and great build finish. Is the reason the engine output?
TLX and it's not even close. The Acura has a real torque-vectoring rear axle, while the Lexus ES has a fake system that just brakes the inner turning wheel, lol.
@Harsh Grewal you sound like a 5 yr old brand ambassador for lexus lmaooo. kid you never even sat in the new tlx so don't talk about it like you know anything. the screen is definitely not flimsy. the interior is 20x better than all the cheap plastic buttons and outdated look the lexus has. the shifter looks like it's from 2005 and the interior design itself is outdated. nothing about the lexus is better except ride quality due to plushier seats. speakers, drive train, adaptive suspension, everything is better in the tlx. i noticed how you didn't respond to the guy who talked about the torque vectoring. cause you know that he's right. lmao.
Hey Sofyan! Great content! I've watched a lot of your videos! I have a small request: When a car has a deficiency, can you consider incorporating upgrades that a normal person could consider? It would be extremely helpful. What the upgrade is, estimated installation difficulty, and approximate price is all we would need. I.e. I have a 2015 Subaru Forester and have been upgrading it over time. The main upgrades being speakers, infotainment, leatherette seat covers, led lights in front and rear, and a thicker rear sway bar. I also plan to upgrade the wheels and tires in the near future. I essentially am making it close to a luxury car while keeping the reliability of the vehicle itself.
I was literally deciding between these two fact two cars and as much as I really want to have the Acura, the Camry’s extra space and ability to use regular gas over premium just gives it the win for me hands down. Plus I’ve owned multiple Hondas, Nissans/infinitis, and looking forward to my first Toyota/Lexus experience
I've drove the 21 Accord and Camry. I own a 21 TLX AWD Tech. No comparison! The only complaint I have with the TLX is that I get 21-23 mph with city driving. It is a gorgeous car inside and out! Drives awesome too! I do think the heated steering wheel should be standard on all luxury car brands at all trim levels. 😎
Reason I do not choose Acura TLX is just do not like 4-cylinder engines and not a fan of CVT either. Anything with a V6 or V8 is going to win my vote over a 4-banger especially when a 4-banger is matched with a CVT. I do not like any Hybrids or EVs.
Wait for the new MDX But comparing the current MDX vs current Highlander, I’d go Highlander platinum hands down. Especially the hybrid where it gets 35mpg combined vs 26 in the MDX hybrid
Agreed. Honda needs to improve its hybrid technology to keep up with Toyota. Although personally, if you don’t like hybrids, go for the MDX. Honda J-series engines are amazing smooth and very good on gas if your a highway traveler. I get over 32mpg in my 2016 Acura RDX with AWD when I’m on the highway. City mph... that’s a different story.
@@Deadlybroom My 2016 MDX with SH-AWD get 30+ mpg on the highway easily even with 7 bodies and luggage in the vehicle as long as you cruise at 55-65 mph.

Bought my wife the TLX Aspec last year after selling her 13 year old TL, both are incredible car but the TLX has such a nice ride, one thing I like as well is that you don’t see very many on the road compared to the Lexus IS
"Are luxury brands worth it?" Generally not, but in this case yes. Edit: I'm gonna say yes for Asian brands like Acura and Genesis, but no for European brands like Audi and BMW. They're just asking too much money when you can get the same quality for $10,000 less.
I can't wait for a 2021 Accord 2.0L sport/Touring compared to 2021 TLX non-type S Technology/Aspec/Advanced packages. Driving dynamics and cabin comparisons. The Accord 2.0L is such a fun zippy affordable reliable sedan but dang the 2021 TLX broader haunches and more sporty back end with a more comfortable premium interior would definitely sway me since I don't need a family-mobile. Accord's more spacious cabin and larger trunk is perfect for those whom need a spunky daily driver to haul the family around yet do not want to jump on the SUV/CUV bandwagon.
I drove both cars back to back. A 21 TLX base model then a 23 camary XLE V6. The Acura felt better to me. Nothing against the camary , but it was Acura for me. Nicest car I've ever owned 😮

This was a good comparison. Not for cross shopping. But looking at each having things the other doesn't, it makes the question of $10k more pretty interesting.
Just wait for the Acura to depreciate in a few years and get a fully loaded Acura for Camry money
smart idea is SMART.
Hahaha
Thats the case for all luxury cars. A friend of mine bought a certified pre-owned, fully loaded 2017 Acura TLX for $24,000. Incredible value for money.
there arent that many of them and they'll probably be floored a lot causing faster wear so you're not really saving buying used when you need to pay for potential repairs from being ragged on by the previous lease owner. people who lease are basically car renters and they will rag them.
Acuras dont depreciate anywhere near as much as benzes and Bmw’s you’re not saving yourself that much money in hindsight
TLX it’s better!! I’m waiting for my lease to end in 6 months 😁😁 I love my TLX A-spec 2018 SHAWD
Car interiors nowadays are just getting smaller and smaller
Well these are two different segments of cars so the differences in performance and features will be expected. The TLX A-spec is worth the $10,000.00 price difference. But the Camry is a solid buy for what it is. Plus a 2021 Camry XLE v6 should offer enough luxury and appearance in addition to the V6 performance.
looking forward to a comparison between the Acura TLX A-spec and Lexus ES-350.
A comparison between the Mazda 6 signature with the TLX would be interesting too.
TLX is so wide in person. Looks really great
If I had to choose between the two, I’d definitely take the TLX. More stylish and sporty for my liking. My only issue with this Camry in the very long run would be changing the hybrid battery so another reason to take the TLX.
You can get the XSE v6
@ki0ng how so? The 10 speed could be a good design.
ki0ng Maybe, but that would depend on how well it’s maintained, and if there’s any premature issues just like they had with their 5 speeds back in their 2000-2003 TL models that come up.
Even still you spend less on the Camry in the long run. If money was no object to me, for sure I’d take the TLX it just looks so goooood
Hybrid batteries will last a long time if you take care of the car.
The TLX white on Red🤤🤤🤤🤤
Should be getting mine tmmr morning 😫

Yea the 3.5 should be in the TLX
The way prices are going with the Corolla and Camry XSE trims they are starting to get into the same price range of an entry level Luxury cars (Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, etc). So the real question is is a Corolla worth $25,000...and is a Camry worth $35,000?
No they are not worth it, way overpriced
Unless u think a luxury brand logo is worth 20k. Basically u are someone who just thinks any car over ~30k or so is not worth it at all, or u think paying an extra 20k for a logo is worth. pathetic.
@@KogoGaming you can get a slightly used luxury car with those features
@@mssha1980 Doesnt make sense comparing a brand new, 0 miles car purchase with a used car purchase. Plus there's a good reason why luxury brand cars depreciate in price so quickly. These cars maintenance costs and frequency gets ridiculous with slight age.

Get the Acura but if you can afford it, wait for the type S.
Right? It says a lot when the Accord 2.0t, which costs less than the Camry, beats it in a drag race even tho the TLX has more horsepower. I'd definitely wait for the Type-S so it can compete with the Genesis G70😂
Tlx stands out wayyyy more
That TLX is dopeness!!
reallyyyy
The ES to the TLX would’ve been a much better comparison.
I just picked up the 2021 Acura A-Spec TLX SH AWD. METAL STEEL GREY WITH RED LEATHER INTERIOR. IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!
“After hoping out off the car” the next day, lol. Or did you have to match the interior of the Acura. 😂 great comparison! For 10,000 I’d wait a few years for a gently used.
lol i also notice that
how do you know its gently used. take the engine and trans apart to know? lol people rag these cars if they lease. its like a rental car to them, for fun. cars that are driven hard isnt really a deal, they're worn out. the metallurgy isnt invincible in the drivetrain as people may think.
I think the Maxima would have been a better comparison than the Camry since they are kinda in the same level
That’s to tell you how far the Camry has come.
@@GodsloveMuzik also you can’t compare the maxima to the Camry. The Camry is superior just about every way. And best part. No JATCO cvt in the toyota
Maxima and AVOLON are the same level and classes like Camry to Ultima and ACCORD.....
The Camry is one level entry below, it competes with the Altima, not the Maxima.
Compare the Nissan Maxima to the Toyota Avalon. The Acura TLX is not in the same segment as the Maxima.
I love your reviews bud, keep rocking the work, you're one of my inspirations to do this stuff - From a soon to be youtuber :)
There’s definitely no comparison when it comes to style. That Acura is too nice...
I'm still looking for an 08 6MT Type-S.. hard to find and expensive :(
somewhat of a unicorn. what color?
New made in Japan 2004 Acura TSX manual now with 89,000 miles puts a smile on my face every time. Hell of a car! You get much better paint, uses 1/2 qt oil every 4 to 5 thousand miles unlike our same engine Civic SI, 1qt per 1500 to 2000 mi. More refined ride, quiet cabin, etc. If you plan to keep it 15 or 20 years it's a no brainer. Considering the TLX base model, wish it was still Japan built.
I’d love to look at a lease on a TLX in a couple years when my Arteon lease is up.
Nice, those Arteons are beautiful.
How do you like your Arteon?
How are you liking the Arteon. I'd love one, but not sure on reliability.
Why would you consider an Acura over Arteon? This is an honest question as I like to understand the reason. I think Arteon is way prettier inside and outside & high tech too with digital cockpit, and great build finish. Is the reason the engine output?
@@zeeshanmbutt id say, for most people including myself, I'd would be the perceived reliability and resell value of an Acura over a VW.

TLX and it's not even close. The Acura has a real torque-vectoring rear axle, while the Lexus ES has a fake system that just brakes the inner turning wheel, lol.

@Harsh Grewal you sound like a 5 yr old brand ambassador for lexus lmaooo. kid you never even sat in the new tlx so don't talk about it like you know anything. the screen is definitely not flimsy. the interior is 20x better than all the cheap plastic buttons and outdated look the lexus has. the shifter looks like it's from 2005 and the interior design itself is outdated. nothing about the lexus is better except ride quality due to plushier seats. speakers, drive train, adaptive suspension, everything is better in the tlx. i noticed how you didn't respond to the guy who talked about the torque vectoring. cause you know that he's right. lmao.
@Harsh Grewal too bad you'll never get close enough to lexus or tlx. go spit on your toyota camry instead.
"The Camry's front fascia, for me, has always been ..." A goddamn nightmare. If you rear-ended someone, you'd never know.

You cant go wrong with Honda-Acura or Toyota-Lexus. Just question is Whats your Budget?
I was literally deciding between these two fact two cars and as much as I really want to have the Acura, the Camry’s extra space and ability to use regular gas over premium just gives it the win for me hands down. Plus I’ve owned multiple Hondas, Nissans/infinitis, and looking forward to my first Toyota/Lexus experience
This would be a more interesting comparison if Toyota gave him the base engine with AWD since the TLX can be equipped with AWD
BruH, I am looking at these exact two cars for purchase and you review them both haha. Add the IS 350 F Sport and G70/G80 to this as well!
the ISF has a ridiculously small trunk though
Reason I do not choose Acura TLX is just do not like 4-cylinder engines and not a fan of CVT either.
Anything with a V6 or V8 is going to win my vote over a 4-banger especially when a 4-banger is matched with a CVT. I do not like any Hybrids or EVs.
Love the comparison. Currently cross shopping between the Highlander and MDX. The rdx was too small so I’m having to wait for the new MDX.
Wait for the new MDX
But comparing the current MDX vs current Highlander, I’d go Highlander platinum hands down.

The new TLX looks pretty good, but nothing about it other than the looks is all that interesting, at least in the more base spec. Will be interesting to see if the Type S is anything special.
I guess it’s just me but I never liked the triangle shapes on Acura. And the badge reminds me of a paper clip holder for chips
