You gave me so much hope when you said media lab was harder than the actual exam. I’ve been having self doubt for so long but since you say the test is straight forward I’m so happy to hear that 😢❤❤❤❤
Yes, media lab really makes you think and it takes it a step further, but the test was far more simple to me. I can’t remember, but I think my classmates and I figured out if you can score around 55-60 correct on medialab then that’s a good indication that you’re on the right track. However, we aimed for higher just for study purposes, but if you’re really studying you’ll be fine ! ♥️
@@AmberAlycee lol yes my co workers said to score 75 and above on media lab and then I’ll be ready but I’ve been stuck at 68 literally , and I’ve noticed that the boc questions are way easier . Thanks for this video , this is just what I needed before my exam
@BigAHNEE You should do just fine, don’t get caught up thinking about exact numbers. If you’re scoring that high then you’re in a good spot. Praying you do well on your exam! ♥️
Hello @amberalycee Please can you share your social media handle I really need help regarding this exam. I'm about to write ASCPI and I need lots of information

Hi thanks so much your time and advice please i have a question Am an international MLS student holder of bachelor degree in MLS simce 2020 i arrived USA its 6,months ago and i want to go in for ASCP .please can you help recommend any online classes i can take in order to prepare for the exams please o really appreciate 🙏🙏🙏
I’m not sure about how the international side of things work! I’d say start and see first if they will honor your degree and program from where you’re from and go from there!
Very useful information. I just came across this video and I hope it will help me have my license. I've an experience of 8 years working as a lab scientist abroad and recently came to the US.
I'm about to appear in exam next month but I'm confused as on media lab I'm scoring 80+ on each test fyi I'm applying for only chemistry certificate so I am prepared or what pls help
Sooo Ill be heading to clinicals in January, but ours will Jan - July. Did you feel like you had enough time to study or did it become overwhelming. Also, were there many case studies on the BOC? We learn through case studies, and those give you clues to the correct answers. Is the BOC like that?
Congrats on making it to clinical ! Because your clinicals are longer you should definitely have ample time for studying. I felt like I had enough time to study , honestly the overwhelming feeling was mostly due to just not knowing what to expect on my exam but I never felt overwhelmed from feeling underprepared or feeling like I didn’t have enough time to study. It’s good that they are teaching you all by using case studies , my program used a similar approach and by doing so you learn what to look for and ignore to answer questions quickly and correctly on the real exam. My exam did not consist of the longer case studies like the ones my program gave, surprisingly my questions were much more concise and to the point. The test used mostly buzz words. I had maybe a handful of case studies that were long but they were still easy to breakdown. Just focus on your prep and you should be fine.
I enjoyed watching your thorough video. So, I am in the process of doing a career change, and I am applying to MLS programs right now. Unfortunately, I am in a dilemma! I already have a BS in Biology, so it would make sense to complete a 1 year post-baccalaureate MLS certificate. However, I haven't been in school since 2017 and I am concerned I might not be prepared for the rigorous MLS courses and certification exam , especially if I matriculate into an online program! Should I just do a 4-year MLS program to better prepare myself? I have enough credits to complete it in 2 years! Any advice is appreciated!
Hi, I’m glad you enjoyed. As far as expenses it would be better if you did the 1 year program. I sat out a year before I did my program and did just fine. I’d say it depends on how comfortable you are with how you study & how you are as a student. If you can finish in 2 years then that’s great too. This all depends on where you feel you are a student. I hope that helps ! 💗
@@AmberAlycee Thank you for the feedback! While I am waiting to hear back from prospective schools, would it be a good idea to start studying for the ASCP MLS exam or am I too early and should I wait until I am in clinical rotations?
@@vp926 You would benefit more just waiting until you start your actual program so that way you can study as you learn the content and become more familiar with it.
They aren’t. MLT is a 2 year degree and they aren’t certified to perform as much as an MLS ! However they do learn a lot of the same things an MLS learns so the they are asked similar questions but from my understanding they don’t go as deep as the MLS exam !

Hello Alycee, My exam is schedule after 2 month for ASCPI MLS. I have finished my MS Microbiology in 2021.which book is good for exam or just MediaLab is enough? And what about the marks percentage for passing ASCPI MLS Exam?is there any negative marking ?
The BOC book was my favorite prep book. I’m not sure about negative markings the test will give lower point questions the more you get wrong and higher point questions the more u get right. I would say use the prep material that works best for you.
@Kojogh hi, I’m not located in nyc and I’ve already taken and passed the exam! This video is about what I did to pass the test. Good luck with your exam!

@@AmberAlycee So that means that Clinical laboratory science review only gives short details to what should be studied. And i should get other refrences to study from and to focus on those details . Am i right?
@maadsama5426 the review book in my opinion was the best because it was a quick overview of my notes from school. I went back through all off my notes from school and then I reviewed the cls review book and used other books for practice questions along with media lab. Medialab was paid for by my program so that’s the only reason I used it.

Sorry to hear that, although I would not recommend anyone attempt to memorize questions from a study prep book as the prep is only to prepare you. The purple and gold book was a favorite of mines as far as reviewing the material. Having a good foundation and understanding of the material is most important, everything else is just ways to solidify the information. I highly recommend you make sure you’re comfortable with the information before attempting to take the test again. I hope that helps you ! 💗
