Getting better and better!! VERY HELPFUL!!! Keep it up Jame!
Hi Mike, thanks for watching, glad you liked this one! 😊
You are hilarious and so generous with your talents! I brought music programs to preschoolers for more than a decade, but Covid has put that on a very long hold. I'm now preparing to teach ESL online. Your channel and website are so helpful. Thank you! (I'm in Louisville, Kentucky USA)
I know this video is old but I cracked up !!!! in the first few seconds of the vid . THIS is exactly how some of the classes are henc why i am here 2023. 🤣🤣🤣
Same here 😂😂😂😂
Thank you very much. it's very helpful.
The beginning is so funny & sad because yeah sometimes students don’t get all the instructions right & it just ruins the game! Thank you for these easy steps ✨🙏🏻 nice t-shirt btw 💕
Hi Tsts, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! Haha yes the beginning is based on how I have experienced students when they haven’t understood me 😂 I’m really glad the tips were helpful, I hope the channel can help inspire new ides for your class 😊
What a wave of nostalgia for China in the beginning 😁
Thanks for watching, Sofia! 😊
Hopefully we can get back soon
@@NedinAstroTarot I'm back for half a year already! Wishing you best luck!
Hi! Im from Argentina, Rosario, I just started teaching a weeks ago. The other day the students (7 year old) revolt against me saying "Spanish , spanish, spanish" I really apreciate your videos and im trying to use your tips, thankyouuu a lot
Hi Leila, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! Sounds like you have your hands full 😂 I've been there lol. I have a video on classroom management that I think might help. You can watch it here ua-cam.com/video/Qf8cbQGknPI/v-deo.html All the best!
That intro. is perfect!! Teaching ESL to young learners in China is just like that!! XD
Yes, yes, based on experience 😂
Hi I just found your channel. It's fun.
I teach all ages in Japan.
Thanks. You are showing your experience which is great. Just that this year the kids will have keep distance or we will go online. But your main idea is useful
Hi Letty, Thanks for watching! Yes, it's a tough year this year and everyone is having to adjust to the requirements set where they are. I hope classes are going well though ❤️
How am I just discovering your channel girl?! I love meeting new teacher tubers. I’ve been an ESL teacher for over 15 years. Love your T-shirt’s! New subbie 😊
Great to meet you! Welcome to the Mooncake community!
Hi!
I am July from Mexico City 🇲🇽
I’m going to teach esl in Japan next year. Your videos are really helpful, thanks!
Hi Julieta, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! Best of luck with teaching in Japan, I hear it's a great place to be a teacher. I hope the channel can help inspire some ideas ready for when you start 😊
That's great. I also find that an example/demo is imperative for young learners. I would usually use my co-teacher or 2/3 student to demonstrate the game for others. Another idea might be to draw an example on the whiteboard, like a little story. For example, if it's the switch game, you can draw little chairs with different shapes or numbers on them, and demonstrate it with magnets/pictures on the whiteboard.
Great videos! Love watching them
Hi Melanie, thanks for watching and for sharing you great ideas! 😊
Hi Jema! Just started with THREE courses of THREE different ages at the same time, without even finishing the TTC haha! You don't know how much your videos have been of such great importance in my formation and practice so far. I really feel like I love you
Ps: I have some issues as regards behaviour of two little kids, they sit together and do nothing but play loudly with each other the entire class, distracting the others in the process. If somebody can give me some tips, I would really appreciate that a lot 🤣 Thanks in advance
Thank you very much for sharing your activities. I'm a newbie and these videos helped me a lot.
Hi Hanh, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I'm so glad the ideas were helpful 😊 Where in the world are you teaching?

Hi. Been watching a few of your videos. I find them very easy to understand and will be using your tips! Having my first class of 4 to 6 years olds today! Been teaching older kids and adults for a while in Sochi, Russia which is easier as they have some level of English. Here I'm starting from scratch!
Hi Gordon, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I know how hard it can be when you first start teaching the younger students, I hope the channel can help get you started 😊 How was the first class?
Hello! Thank you so much, dear Jenna, for these useful videos and material 🙂I’m glad that I found your channel!

Hi Jemma, I am Mapule from South Africa. I have been teaching english in China for over two years. From teaching at a training center to teaching at a kindergaten...I have attended a gazillion ESL trainings but none of those trainings gave me the teaching experience I have been looking for. I stumpled upon your channel as I am always searching for ways to improve my teaching style. You have immersely helped me improve in such a short space of time from just watching your videos. I always watch them with a pen in hand ready to take notes. I have watched almost all your videos...I reall want to watch them all because your content is so worth it! Please consider teaching ESL as a course. I believe it will help many others. There are a lot of teachers like myself struggling.
Much Love,
I know this is not related to this video sorry! I thought I should share with you how your channel is relevant and deserves more subscribers
Hi Mapule, thanks so much for your message it has really made my day. I started Mooncake English because I felt like there wasn't many professional resources out there for ESL teachers. So it's a wonderful feeling to know that the channel has helped you so much. Regarding an online course, I am actually working on one, but I really want to to be beneficial with information that I know will really helps teachers, so I am taking some to produce it. I will of course let you know once it's ready 😊
Once again, thanks for the lovely feedback and encouragement ❤️
Hi Jema, thanks a lot. You are welcome. I appreciate that you also take out time to answer to our comments. You are breath of fresh air...an amazing soul!
I will be on the lookout for your course. So exciting :)
Hi I have been teaching in VN for 3 years now but recently started teaching preschool students at a montessori school. It is incredibly challenging as I have always struggled to connect with little ones! Feels like i am failing at this new job.. and trying to get some tips and ideas from your channel. Long story short... thanks so much for all the helpful videos and throwing out a buoy to a "drowning" teacher!
Hi Lorri-Anne, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I am so glad the videos have been helpful, I hope the channel can inspire some new ideas and help you connect with your students 😊
Great tips Jemma. Love them. I do a variation like Melanie. I keep a stash of flashcards of clipart children that represent the students in the class. They are laminated and have magnets, standing on one side and sitting on the other. Then draw a demo on a white board with movement and language. Then of course demo with a teacher and several children who have caught on a bit faster than their peers. Works best from 4y.o. and up 3y.o. ok, later in the year. Early 3y.o.....good luck. Just move them, show a card and say it, jump, and laugh. Hopefully they follow.:)
Hi, thanks for watching! Excellent tips, thanks so much for sharing. Using magnets is a terrific idea and could really make things clearer for students 😊
Hiiii , another amazing video 😍
btw I presented my demo today , and my trainer loved the games 😍 ( tic toc toe , silly bananas , ...)
thank you so much ♥️♥️♥️
Hi Ariana, thanks for watching 😊 I’m so happy to hear the demo went well, that’s fantastic!!😁 ❤️

Hello! How do you teach clothes? "What are you wearing?" " I'm wearing....." I hope you will do a video also for this topic...I need it so much!... Thank you so much for all videos! You are great!!! 🤗🤗🤗
Hi Liliana, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I actually made a video on teaching clothing here ua-cam.com/video/8WxJomSzDJY/v-deo.html
It was made for online teaching but you can take the ideas and use them in the classroom. There is a free clothing PPT to download for this lesson idea in the freebies section of the Mooncake English website www.mooncakeenglish.com or you can bring real clothing to the classroom if teaching offline.
I hope that helps! 😊

Hi, teaching in China
Hello Jemma😀. I really love your videos and I am your new subscriber. I am an ESL teacher from India. Really greatful for your help. Could you please give some tips for one-on-one online teaching. Your videos and games are amazing but I am unable to use all of them in online one-on-one classes.
Hi Jeevan, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I'm so glad the videos and ideas have been helpful. Yes, I will try to put out a video with some one-on-one tips soon 😊
Very helpful video!
Hi Barend, thanks for watching! I’m glad the video was helpful 😊 where in the world are you teaching?
Hi Barend, thanks for watching! I’m glad the video was helpful 😊 where in the world are you teaching?
I’m teaching in China in a city called Suzhou. 😀
Hi Jemma. I'm a relatively new in teaching ESL, I'm teaching in Taiwan. Thanks for your video, this is really a significant problem I've encountered a lot! However is it possible for you to make an example video? Your tips is helping to explain step by step. But my young students still had a hard time understanding the 3rd step :(
Hi Charissa, thanks for watching! I have had quite a few requests for example videos, but it gets a bit challenging to get parents permission. UA-cam also makes it very challenging for channels that have children in their content. Which part of the third step are they struggling with? Have you tried demonstrating with a co-teacher or student?
hi. I m new here. thank u
Hi, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! Where in the world are you teaching?

Hey! I’m new to this whole thing and want to build my own curriculum. I was wondering would it be a good idea to have something like a google classroom to add homework and tests for students? ( I mean from the age of 14 and up)
Hi, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! To be honest because I'm based in China where Google isn't very accessible, I'm not sure what to advise you. I think having a platform where homework would be accessible would certainly be beneficial. Are you teaching online or in-class?
Mooncake English hi! I haven’t started teaching just yet but I plan to teach online.
Hi what games ,warm up games or songs do u have for teaching young learners online
Hi Lucia, thanks for watching! I actually have a whole playlist dedicated to online teaching. You can watch it here ua-cam.com/play/PLWnDxOCiXGiq85RYiM9_eMH93wznDuIi5.html
I hope it helps!
I was trying to explain the same game in two words and demonstrate it but unfortunately i have no assistant to translate. Or maybe the game switch isn’t suitable for three years old students?
Hi Yuliia, thanks for watching! Yes I think switch might be a bit tricky for three year olds. Their spatial awareness and coordination isn’t quite there yet and they can bump into each other. I would suggest a game like Bounce ua-cam.com/video/czYljRAHbgU/v-deo.html or What’s in the box ua-cam.com/video/dh7DwTmzyas/v-deo.html Generally, I would avoid any kind of competitive games for three year olds, they usually don’t understand the idea of competing. I’ve had three year olds help each other instead of trying to win 😂
Mooncake English oh yeah you’re right but I think this game is not really competitive but kids are still being kids you know 😂 today while playing the game one of the kid didn’t want to switch the seat because “that was her chair” (idk why she decided so but whatever 😂 )As a teacher I want to find something more interesting and new but sometimes I’m forgetting that they are too young to play active games so I need to avoid it. Thanks for advises and keep it up with the new content, you’re an inspiration for me and an example of a good teacher!!! 😊
Hi jema
Hi Sabeena! How are you?
@@MooncakeEnglish i am good . . How do you do ?
Sabeena Gohar I doing well. How are classes going? Hopefully the video was helpful!

You no the beginning 😂 u can really imitate them 🤣
How are you?
Hi Anwesha! I’m good, thanks so much for asking 😊 How are things with you?
How can we explain a very useful game - Simon says? I failed with my 4 y.old student
Hi Tatiana, thanks for watching!
You can follow the same steps I mention in the video but you also need to think about if the game is too hard for your students. For four year olds, the game may be a little hard for them to get, especially if they are new to English. Remember to use simple words, demonstrate and highlight those that are responding correctly to help students understand better.
I hope that helps!
