I gotta say, Gill's response to the inhospitable crowd was pretty f*ckin' Rock 'n' Roll. Well played, indeed, sir!

That is so funny! I’ve got a similar story where I agreed to sit it with a less than professional country band (I’m the least looking or sounding country person you’ll meet) and was alternating between an Iceman and a Flying V. A lot of other things went sideways and south and a half empty beer bottle whizzed past my head and bounced off my amp. I unplugged, began loading out my gear and waited outside for my buddy who was playing bass to come out, at which point he apologized and I held out my hand and said, “money”. More shady shit ensued because of the situation get, some drunk gf’s who they were now singers in the band, and the bar owner who was 99 sheets to the wind and stumbled up to sing, treating us if we were his private backing band…..
….it’s a longer story, but ya get the picture!

This kinda reminds me of the scene in "The Blues Brothers" movie where they stole the gig at a country bar from a band called "The Good 'ol boys", only in reverse.

Ha! I would be surprised if he did. When he wrote his book, he had to talk to friends to remember the stories.

What a failure by the promoter. I used to be in a heavy rock/funk fusion band back in the oughts and we'd end up on bills with all these goth and thrash bands. It was always a fun night bringing a metal crowd around to our space disco, as we called it. Luckily we had some distortion in the guitar parts but there were a couple nights where we couldn't get off stage fast enough

Just found your channel. This is cool and has a lot of potential. The only other channel I can think of doing something like this is that wanker who has 'True Rock n roll stories'...that used to be called 'GnR Central'... the guy is clueless and just reads wikipedia aritcles and even steals full articles that he reads and doesn't cite or credit. He is like a 40 year old man who got into music from playing those Guitar Hero games. hehehe. Back in the 80s, we would have called him a poser hehehe.

Ha ha! I'm glad you're enjoying it, Michael. I'm one of those old school hard rock guys. I grew up on KISS, AC/DC, and then the hair bands.

I went to a concert in the late 70s where Poco opened for Boston. I had a feeling before they even hit the stage it wasn’t gonna be pretty. About 3 songs into Poco’s set, and after many projectiles hit the stage, someone in the band stopped the show and said, “If you guys are gonna throw sh*t at us, then f#%k you!”, and they walked off stage. 😂

I hate it for them, but it seems like a right of passage for some of the younger bands. Ha ha!
