In the valleys , in the mountains and by the sea , the Welsh sing not just from the heart but from the soul . It’s passed down from parents and grandparents and beyond .the yearning to sing is in all Welsh people whether they can or not . In a choir all are equal . We are a small country but when we sing together we are greater than any other . Welsh choirs will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand out , bring tears to your eyes , a lump to your throat , and joy to your heart and soul .
Amen to that. I am in South Africa and I've just had tears and a lump in my throat! Thank you
I am born of Welsh parents but unfortunately the gift of song has not been passed down to me. Maybe it was lost when I was born in Southampton? What I do know is that my appreciation of music is not lost nor my support for the Welsh Rugby team. I will confess to my support of Southampton FC! But then I do support the NY Yankees as well due to my childhood spent in the USA.
No truer words about the Welch have been spoken 😉👍🏻
My dad loves only boys aloud apparently my dads neighbours son was in the only boys aloud my dad always breaks down crying when he hears this song because his dad aka my grandfather passed away in 2023 and when my dad was little he used to always be on his shoulders because it was the safest place in the world to him and this song just reminds him about his dad I always say he is always with him forever I live in Manchester in the UK but my dad lives in Holyhead wales where he grew up that’s where my grandfather passed away we played Calon Lan and songs by the beach boys because my grandfather loved the beach boys
I am Irish, so I have a natural regard for our Welsh cousins. Their choirs are the best in the world. This was lovely singing.
I’m not Welsh but I have a lot of Welsh cousins round about the valley’s, so I’ve always had the highest regards and loyalty to the Welsh rugby and the godly sounds of Welsh choir’s.
These lads are absolutely awesome, singing in their native language makes them even more Special. Bravo guys.
I love to I'm half Welsh love clare from Slough Berkshire xxx
They are also so handsome and strong. Love them. Good luck to you, fellows. These boys have better voices than most popular singers. Wow!
Well done to Only Boys Aloud for keeping the Welsh tradition of singing alive.
Thank you to all The Lads "wonderfull makes me cry !" My son was in there at this time n i loved hearing him practice feel favourd our Land Wales our place planet Earth ❤
Excellent. Instead of the foul language hip-hop and rapping "music", the world needs more of this kind of singing.
Robert Delich
ye..what you said is quiet true...
Robert Delich fan of the classics are you? 😄
I will echo that sentiment, Robert, thanks for being alive and able to love and give to others. It was important for these young men to sing this, I betcha each would acknowledge that, too.
David cassidy
So beautiful ! The world needs every voice, we must just figure out how to make them all heard.
I live in America and I listen at least 2 or 3 times a week, cannot understand the language but understand the music through every beautiful voice.
It’s Welsh and almost exact traduction of the original lyrics
To take 140 youths off the street, and make stars of them overnight, must be a first !
Such beautiful voices. I love that something so positive is being offered these boys in an area so economically depressed. I especially love that the Welsh heritage is being preserved at the same time.
Oh my goodness the emotional impact of these young guys coming together & singing is really quite something. We are so quick to judge teenagers & think all they do is get into trouble but there is a whole other picture & we need to look at it ❤️
To hold on to your own language and culture and traditions and your own home spun songs in the midst of Britons, Scots and Englishmen, is a feat of the Welsh nation that is absolutely admirable! The only word that comes to mind is STUBBORNNESS.
No, PERSISTANCE !
Asking GOD’S blessings for all these young boys and their family’s!
I'm American, never been to Wales or Ireland or Scotland, just England as a boy. I never heard the Welsh language, or Gaelic, or whatever it is the Scots spit forth, but they are all beautiful when properly sung.
The way the world has gone down with all of the terrible things in it, these young men show us that there is so much hope. Nations should get together and sing and push peace! Bravo to these young men, beautiful work.
Nothing like a young mens choir from Wales... so well performed, nicely done GUYS., THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY DAY!
Beautiful singing by the Lads ALWAYS, no playing with I-phones or computers. Does ones heart good to hear such a magnificent sound in Queensland, Australia
I'm welsh and I'm fluent, but this gets me everytime😭
Even though i don't understand Welsh, i love when these boys sing it. Their voices are perfect and so peaceful. I sang it in english with them just so i could understand the words. These boys are just so amazing.
wow. I'm in a choir myself, and I can only imagine how much time and effort they have put into these pieces. it takes a true love for music. you don't acquire this sound over night.
So right! One thing you notice straight off is they are not afraid to really open the mouth to produce sound;words well articulated, eyes following the director. Well-trained.
the marvelous thing about male choirs is that it will sound overall so beautifully smooth.
It's incredible to see so many guys singing together and yet their voice comes out as one... it just shows a beautiful connection between them... their performance hit the strings of my heart and i could feel the vibrations swiping me away...
Beautiful and stunning. You are all an inspiration.
I’ve been lucky enough to grow up in Wales my whole life and visit the Eisteddfod every year since I was 4 to listen to all the beautiful welsh singers. I’m fluent in welsh and I think this is lovely but this song doesn’t need to be understood to be beautiful
All of your performances never failed to leave me in tears. It is so beautiful and the way each and everyone harmonises with each other is just splendid.
Thank you, each and every one of you! Evans-Williams ancestors in the house.
This is the most beautiful sound in the world. It is healing music. I can't prevent my eyes from filling with tears.
Even bough this isn't in English I think it's in welsh. This is stunning so beautiful nothing of any male voice choir can top you in the world.
I am half Welsh and went to English schools so feel deprived of my language and heritage. In the past the English tried to suppress the language (the "Welsh Not" in schools) and many feeling shamed refused to speak it to their children. The proud old infantry regiment the South Wales Borderers (the second battalion fought Napoleon troops for the Crown in Eqypt and at Roorkes Drift in South Africa and won 5 or 6 VCs for bravery (see the film Zulu) and in WWII in France and Germany was later decommissioned by the English Government and is no more. However that beautiful language is coming back. There is Welsh media and movies are made in the old language and it is taught in schools. Some of the comments below made me feel very proud. Diolch!
Never too late to start learning
Well stated! My dear late husband was from Wales and our children are very proud to be half Welsh! I cry every time I hear any of the Welsh choirs but these boys really make the tears flow!
Alway one person to bring on politics. Shame on you
I am feeling so happy to see those young men performing choirs. It is very rarely to see this such kind of huge boys group choirs nowadays. This is so incredible and amazing to see such a group of choirs like them. Very inspiring. May God bless all of these young men. Amen. They are such a great inspiration to the young generation. Thank you so much for sharing such a great talent from all of you to the world.
I jjust found out about this choir by accident, and boy I love it! they got a wonderful voices, and they bring such beautiful language to my attention. best wishes for you all
Me too but 2023!
I love this group. Having traveled the world, I find that beautiful music regardless of the language has a way of reaching out and touching our souls.
I am so proud of every one of those young men. To know where they came from, as they chose to sing Christian music together. These are heavenly voices. Just beautiful!
While English is the only language I speak, such a beautiful song needs no translation to appreciate that beauty. I never tire of listening to these young men. I was hooked from their audition for BGT.
If you have a social media like Twitter I could send u the English version
Or look up At-Risk Choir perform chilling version of you raise me up, then click the first video u see that's it in English ❤️
Kathryn Lee Thank you!! I'll check it out.
+survivrs your welcome
Welsh male voices are part of what makes this culture the supreme group that it is. Hearing one in person, not a dry eye in the house ever.....even full grown men weep. The resonation of their voices burrows deep into your heart and pit of your stomach; creates a powerful and overwhelming expression that can come to a cry. If you ever get to hear them live; do so. Experience of a lifetime.
Beautiful Heavenly voices
Truly Beautiful!!!! Would like to hear more from them!!! This is the first time I have heard them sing!!! So Beautiful!!!
THANK YOU for posting
BRAVO, heard many choirs, male, female and all but these young men....wow....
It is such a joy to listen to these young men, heavenly. I am one of their fans across the Pacific Ocean.
Aye. Raised in Llangefni, Ynys Mon, had my voice trained as a top C tenor and earned a Certificate of Merit from the Royal Academy of Music, 2nd place, men's opera singing category. I sang 'Amor Ti Vieta." Sang in Britain and USA. Cymru Am Byth..hefyd. Eleven VC's were won at Rorke's Drift.
could you be more proud of being Welsh? That melted my heart. knowing decades after I'm gone, these guys will be passing on this stuff. Awesome video ++++
Well done, boys! Beautiful voices from a beautiful country.
Thanks for preserving your beautiful language: there is something deep and soulful about it. And the world needs that in every expression right now. Beautiful!
Incredible.
To me, it shows that music truly doesn't have a language. I am Dutch so I couldn't understand a word they were singing, but it was so beautiful and it swept me away
I'm American and speak English, the language of the song, and I have no clue what they are saying. A lot of what they sing has a huge Welsh hymn accent to it so it is near unintelligible. Like they sung David Bowie's song heroes and I was confused.
Lucas Allen Are they not singing some of the time in Welch? However, there are dialects of English in England that are impossible to understand. We even have some in the US that are nearly unintelligible to the rest of the country. Go up around Jones Port, Maine.
Lucas Allen They're singing in Welsh, since they are from Wales. It's a different language than English ;)
Charles Beck It's not in English, it's in Welsh. That's a different language not just a dialect. Sure there are dialects in every country that are hard to understand unless you know/speak that dialect, but Wales has it's own language :)
Stephanie van Zuidam It doesn't hurt that several of them are pretty cute. ^_^
where are these young men in 2019?. wonderful.
Boy,s Aloud you are best for sure greetings from Holland
Aad Kiene i
Very well done - excellent!!!! So wonderful to hear young boys singing!!!
I never tire of listening to this. I hope you can all keep singing in spite of the pandemic. But keep safe!!
Eight of them went to my school(a welsh speaking one)
Now these boys are men & wonder what they can do for Wales . Now lads your journies not ended & really begin. Good luck !
Great choir. You should hear 40,000 Welshmen singing in 4 part harmony at the International Rugby matches. Enough to make you r hair stand on end.
I just know of Welsh singing fame from a few movies so I’m always interested to hear the beautiful voices of the Welsh.
sadly i don't have any
Are you able to provide a link? I would dearly love to see it. Thank you.
AMEN BROTHER.
Should hear them singing on a Saturday night in the pub.
excellent and beautiful. I am from Singapore. I am full of praise for this choir. It is a choir of the highest quality. simply beautiful
These guys are so talented. And, it is clear they sing from their hearts. God bless them always!
To be born Welsh is not to be born with a silver spoon in your mouth, but music in your heart and poetry in your soul. Cymru am byth! Wales forever! And that goes for every Celtic "nation."
I love this song. It's beautiful no matter what langugae.
My husband will lectures on cruise ships. We have been on P&O...we have never felt more welcome...we love the people of the UK. This performance tells why! Magnificent boys!
Bravo les boys !!!!!! vous avez un talent extraordinaire !!!!
Je suis canadien , mais je remarque qu'il a du talent partout dans ce monde !
Félicitation !!!!!
Well done boys!! you have an amazing talent!!
I'm Canadian, but I notice he has talent everywhere in this world!
Congratulations!
Bravo, monsieur.
My parents lived in Wales before I was born. I have always had a love for the Welsh, it truly is a magical place !
GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!! Thank you for doing something for the boys at last. I'm sick of 'girl power.'
To think this is an unauditioned group - - there are many, many choirs with highly competitive auditions that could only dream of having this vocal quality & blend. Bravo!
This cover of this song really makes me proud to be Welsh, it's absolutely beautiful
I love Wales, the true authentic part of England and I am celtic english. The language and the scenery are beautiful and their rugby is amazing - a true lover of wales
You must be somewhat demented if you refer to Wales as "part of England". Say that to any sane Welshman or woman and you'd be scolded for your bigotry.
demented? sane? bigotry? mayhap you are the bigot if someone who does not share your opinion you dismiss as demented. get a grip and some manners
How can you have an opinion when the fact is there to see? Wales, or Cymru rather, is its own country - not part of England in any way. I think its you that needs to "get a grip" and realise you're no longer in the running for Empire's, so you have no real claim to any other country and their cultures. Twll din pob Sais.
if you had bothered to read instead of rant, you twit, you would have seen that I am no empire freak but a scot/irish raised in england. I am very glad I do not meet anyone like you when I go to support ospreys or wales at rugby! you qualify for the title of the "welsh idiot" and less of the foul stuff please.
whitestones, you are not Celtic, the English are RUBBISH, and we are not part of England , get ur facts right before you make stupid comments.
This choir is made up of boys from economically depressed areas of Wales. It takes a lot of hard work to sound like this. I’ve had experience with choirs and bands so I know. This is much more than just another song for them. This song could be their theme song.
so glad you are singing in welsh be proud boys
Growing up my family had our own little choir, my mum and uncles would sing at family get togethers, with the last names of Edwards and Owens we couldn’t go wrong. I just love listening to the welsh voices singing. Thank you all
I am Welsh - but I was brought up in Kenya.
I spent my last two years at school at a college in Brecon, where the singing in Chapel was just wonderful.
But this sort of singing brings tears to my eyes.
I am now very old, but if I could wish for just one thing from my youth, it would be to join young lads like this in some wonderful singing.
I admire those who have made this happen, and the youngsters who have enjoyed making it happen.
Enjoy every moment, and every memory - when you are old, like me, you will remember every enjoyment that you gave to yourselves and to others.
What a wonderful time you are going to have.enjoy it to the full.
You boys are a testament to everything that is the best that Wales has to offer 😉👍🏻
My Celtic brothers of Cymru sing so wonderfully. Their voices transcend everything. I love the Welsh language like my Gaedlig of Scotland. God bless Wales, Ireland, and Scotland.
To me it is life and these poor kids have to go though it God Bless them
Wonderful music..wonderful harmony..fantastic..congratulations to each of you..sing sing you are the best...
Absolutely fabulous
I live in the States and have recently purchased the CD by Only Boys Aloud. Truly amazing!! Calon Lan gets me every time...especially now knowing the English translation. It should be our World's Anthem.
Their new CD is now available direct from OBA - follow this link - www.aloud.cymru/aloud-shop/
Their music is absolutely beautiful. I’m so glad I decided to listen. Bless all of them.
This one the heart warming experiences I have witnessed on utube 💗
da iawn fechgyn!
Well done boys! ❤️
Cymru am byth!
Wales forever! ❤️
Wot can anyone say that hasn’t already been said you are most gifted young people Wales must be very proud of you WE ARE
The Welsh (Scots,Irish and the Bretons) are the remnants of the
Celtic people who occupied Europe south of the River Rhine and north of the Med sea before the Romans invaded is what I was taught at school in England. Look it up in Wikkip. They are stubborn and that is why they kept their language and it is growing. I love their music.
Just beautiful. Well done
Thank you for sharing your talents with the world, and an old guy like me!
Great group, great country, great culture and tradition! Long Live Wales!
I love Only Boys Aloud!!! Fantastic voices!
Ziemlich grandios. Egal, in welcher Sprache: das ist einfach nur gewaltig und herrlich. Danke, die Herren!
I bet you're not as old as me!
I'm an emotional ruin, drowning in memories of better days, and then I saw these guys on BGT, and now seeing great performances like this one.
I'm proud of my tears!
I am Australian, and I have watched some of your performances on UA-cam. What a magnificent sound you guys have. It is absolutely beautiful to listen to you sing in Welsh. I don't understand what you are singing but it's amazing to listen to. Well done guys, keep up the great work. 👍
Wow, sure raises the Spirit in oneself to hear these Wonderful Boys Sing~~~
Great job. All of you sing very well
I never watch Britains Got Talent but have so enjoyed the music of this wonderful group of boys and their able conductor. It is truly inspiring to hear music lifting up the glory of God sung with such passion. Well done.
This is really a tribute to the boys and Tim who makes these wonderful performances. This song resonates to everyone and should be enjoyed the same way. Great performance !
i am from indonesia .. I love you guys
I so love this choir. Such talent.
When I lived in England (during my OE from New Zealand), I travelled to Wales for a few days. Stayed with aquaintances through my cousin. I stayed in Swansea - beautiful place and the most wonderful people! This choir just shows what a fantastic thing it is to hang onto your language and culture! Well done to Tim and the lads. I wish you every success!!!!
I am speechless, so pure, honest and powerful!
Stunning! I can't get enough of these lads.
I am half welsh and love it even tho I don't know my dad I still speak a little welsh sometimes an don't even know I am doing it this touch my heart because I understand every word :) love only boys aloud xx

Come to Australia guys.
Beautiful.
A mí me encuentro este coro galés una inspiración que toca el alma. Y, los que me toca aún más es el orgullo de estos jóvenes galeses en su idioma y tradición. ¡Bravos y viva Gales!
Beautiful! Makes me proud of my Welsh roots!
Music is beauty and these young men were so fortunate in being lead down a great path. Wales is beautiful and far surpasses life in America especially now in days of guns and bad leadership
