- Dougie gives some tips on how to fly a De Haviland DHC-2 Beaver seaplane on our trip to the San Jaun Islands from Seattle. I’m learning to fly the Beaver on floats was able to ride along on a number of flights with some of the best pilots around! This was not a training flight but I got a chance to pick up some great tips and had a fun flight to Friday harbor and back.
We landed over the rock quarry from the south west which is a fun approach to Friday harbor. It was nice to go as a passenger with no responsibility’s and just enjoy the flight.

Feel free to post a link!
Thanks I’ll check it out !
I subscribed also thanks !
Is it me, or does it appear the plane is flying around with 10 deg. flaps down?
It has cruise climb flaps .... so when your climbing you have flaps in. Once you level out flaps come up. They climb slow and relatively flat compared to a Cessna for example. I can hardly tell
the difference between level flight and cruise climb since the pitch angle is minimal between the two.
I want to know is this type of plane still in production ?
Production was 1947 to 1967 or so. They made about 1600 total.
They are super solid and feel like a truck ( built tough). They would be super expensive to build now and they built the originals maybe too good.
