    Martin and Tim from APEX Alaska were awesome for setting everything up to do this! It’s not launched yet, but when it is they’ll have you covered end to end with amazing lakeside accommodations for summer and winter training at the Alaska Aviation Adventure HQ.
    Pilots would come and join us to “expand” their flying skills, get to see Aviation from a different angle and experience the application of it to Alaska.
    Specialized 1 on 1 training as well as groups of 6-8 to come and fly helicopters, floats (Super Cub and beaver), wheels, skis, lakes rivers and Ocean!

    Regarding the Survival kit:
    My friends at TacAero shared this code with the Flight Chops community to save $250 USD
    on an Aviation Survival Kit this spring.
    I am not being paid any portion of the sales,
    I just want to be a part of helping get more pilots flying safely.
    To get a $250 USD discount,
    Use the code Chops250 at check out:
    elite.tacaero....
    Clearly it is possible to do the work and research to put a kit together yourself more cheaply,
    but the very experienced team at TacAero knows what you need.
    So if you want to save that time, effort, and the chance of getting it wrong,

    FLIGHT CHOPS DISCLAIMER: I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having the GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.

    Steve, thank you for informative and incredible content as usual! I have watched every minute of every video you have posted, and have learned SO much! One day I aspire to at least get my PPL. (that is about it as I am color blind) For now, just a sim guy. I got your VM the other day and almost fell on the floor! Thank you for taking the time to pick up the phone! I just received my patch today!!! So stoked! Keep up the great work! - The "serious postage guy" :-)

    • @FlightChops
      @FlightChops  3 роки тому +2

      Haha - awesome. Get after it! I don't think it is a huge deal to get through as a colour blind PPL. And yeah, I was very impressed that you self declared the envelope and had it properly set up with Canada post from the U.S. That was definitely a first :).
      Sending out the mail to Patreon supporters is a bit of a pain point for me - it is double edged sword because technically I should declare every embroidered patch as you did, but that labour is prohibitive to do for a legit free gift that I send to all new $5 supporters. So I sneak them as "normal mail", and I think some of them get snagged by customs as a result.

    Steve, another exceptional video. You're putting out some really inspiring content, showing what the world of general aviation is really about. Man this is exactly the kind of video i was looking for. Entertaining, but educational too, and for a new pilot here in Alaska it is good to see videos of flying in this really really big state and as a newer pilot this is definitely intimidating. But now that i see your video And become more aware of what the flying looks like in Alaska, the fear is starting to go away and now replaced by excitement and a surge of confidence and faith that if these guys cab do it, so can I. Thank you!

    Steve, at 5:36, if you loosen the grip slightly on the mount you might be able to get rid of some of the vibration. I use the "Sony Action Cam" suction cup which has a ball mount and "teeth" for tightening on towards the base. I can loosen it just enough to where the teeth still grip but some vibration is gone. Cool video!

    • @FlightChops
      @FlightChops  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the insights on that. The Beaver had some good and bad spots for vibration. other episodes with that cam in nearly the same spot where less shaky. Anyway - those were also Hero5 models, I think the newer GoPros do a better job handling the "shakey jello cam effect".
