    Apparently a previous experiment was done where the tip of the stalk (the fast moving part) can actually detect certain odors and moves in response to them. These things are much more alive and animal like in behavior than we previously thought.

    The stalk seems to be testing the rope by touching it multiple times and confirming it is stable, and only then is it wrapping itself around it.

    The thing I find most amazing is that I planted the cucumber where the vine was going one direction, but when I put the fence close to it, it changed direction and went to it instead.

    That "rope" is made of metal, isn't it? It looks like the plant doesn't like metal. It tries to find an alternative before finally accepting the metal. Our ancestors knew that one does not harvest healing plants with an iron knife.
