  • This video will demonstrate one way to quickly get your chords from Scaler 2.0 into Logic Pro 2.0 for iPad. This technique takes advantage of the new internal MIDI routing available in Logic 2.0 and the chord detection feature. It's a quick take because I wanted to get this out to everyone to try over the weekend.
    For more details on using the new features in Logic Pro 2.0 for iPad please hop over to the video links listed below by Pete Johns (Studio Live Today) and Jade Starr (How To App). They'll have more in depth videos and videos focused on how to use the new chord track, and lots of other great stuff.
    The video is inspired by the excellent video that was just published by the talented folks over at School of Synthesis. That video demonstrates how to quickly import chords from Scaler 2 into Logic Pro 11 on Mac. **See the link below for details.
    **Note that the procedure tends to be pretty high on CPU usage and I had a couple issues where the sound would not play and I had to reload the project, so if you experience any issues duplicating this. Try restarting Logic and possibly restarting the iPad and watch the CPU usage meter if you have it enabled on the toolbar in Logic Pro.

    Thanks for making this video. I was trying to figure out how to use scaler 2 in Logic Pro for iPad 2 after I saw a tutorial from the makers of Scaler, showing how they are using Scaler 2 with the Chord track, in Logic Pro 11. This is very helpful and applicable information. Blessings and peace to you and yours!

    Great stuff! I’ve been trying to get this to work but didn’t realise you could keep the chord input dialog open in the inspector.
    I’ll post a link to your video over on the Scaler forum.

      Totally - I got a 256 GB model a year and a half ago and it seemed spacious - now it's 90% full, and then Logic 2.0 came along, lol.

    Excellent tips, thanks you. Do you know why when creating a new chord: it gets 8 bars long? Now I discovered I can chop that up with the scissor which might be even quicker way to create a bunch of chords but still don't get why it does that (8 bar).

      @edzielinski  21 день тому +1

      Good question. I really like your idea to chop it up with the scissors. 👍You can also tap, click Copy and then “Paste at Playhead” and repeat or you can use the duplicate option on the controls as well but it takes a bit of finesse. I tried to copy and paste multiple chords but that does not seem to be supported.

      @@edzielinski You can group chords and cut/paste those groups

    How do you get your chords into a track? Copy and paste doesn't work. Actually it has worked. Not sure what I did, but tapped on each chord individually, copy, then tapped on track and pasted at play head. Could have been just a glitch. Great vid all the same ❤

    • @edzielinski
      @edzielinski  20 днів тому

      Correct - copy and paste does work, but apparently only one chord at a time. I get an error when I select multiple chords and try to paste them into a track or elsewhere. Also, I've had a few glitches using this set up - sometimes the chords would make sound, I had the project freeze completely. Restarting Logic in those cases, without doing anything else, brought it back to normal.

      @@edzielinskithe easiest method is to have an instrument loaded. Load scaler in midi fx. Ensure the daw sync is on. Ensure 'record midi to track here' is checked. Put whatever chords in section c. Hit the record button in logic. The scaler chords are recorded into the track. You can also use all the various scaler features, and they will be recorded as well. You could just leave it at that. If you want to use the session player, then record your chords without performances, humanize, etc. Tap on the midi track. On the pop up, tap covert, then convert to session player region. Then go into edit, tap on the drummer. In the pop up, change type to keyboard player as an example, tap on one of the songwriter patches, and voila.

      @@danzesociety @danzesociety Interesting! I tried it out and was able to convert the recorded MIDI from Scaler 2 into a Keyboard Session Player track, however I encountered a difficulty - the session player did not seem to play based on the content of the converted MIDI track and instead followed what was in the global chord track. Did you get a different result? Thanks for the suggestion and creative ideas. Keep 'em coming. 👍

      I don’t get the option to paste the chord into a MIDI track after copying it from the chord track, unfortunately (I only get cut, copy and delete options when tapping on the software instrument track). In the video it would have helped if in the ‘jump’ between sections, it had explained how the chord names got to the instrument track!

    • @edzielinski
      @edzielinski  17 днів тому +1

      @TMWSS Gotcha. I edited it down a lot since it was already long at 10 min. You should be able to just tap in the blank area in any instrument/MIDI track and paste the chord in there. To verify that the copy of chord went into the paste buffer, you can first try tapping at the end of the chord track and see if it allows a copy there. If it is not working for you I'll create a short video of it and post it as unlisted and paste the link here for anyone who may need it, so let me know. By the way I've been a fan of your channel for a long time. Nice work!
