Hakeem was so ahead of his time... That spin move that he hit Ewing with (that had Sam Cassell going crazy on the bench) was absolutely insane for a big man.. Even Starks and Mason look totally bewildered 😂.. What a player

Most underrated NBA superstar of all time. Everyone talks about Stockton's assists record and how it will be hard to break it but never about Hakeem's blocks record and that is the record that no one is ever breaking.
Idk. Wemby could break that record, not easily I would say but he averaged around 3.5 blocks a game in only around 29mpg. If he plays for a consistent 12-15 years & plays enough games with good health, he can challenge that record & he's the only one
@frizzyrascal1493 Wilt has a special place But Hakeem's Block record after the invention of the 3 point line makes it extra special. This is because players were starting to shoot further away from the basket. Even midrange shots started to get closer to the 3 point line because another option was available to players if they wanted the 3. Farther away means less opportunity especially for centers to block perimeter players shots Today's game, the 3 is out of control and the balance seems off though.
@@peterguidry6084 That is a good argument, the game obviously changed, however the three point line wasn’t used that much back in the 90’s. The game was still heavily centered around layups and good open mid-range shots. Hakeem is probably my third favorite center of all time, just because of his play style and the fluidity of his moves. Can’t put him above Kareem or Wilt however.
Greatest center of all time!! Did everything and didn’t have a flaw in his game at all. His mid range game was ridiculous and he even hit the 3 ball when it mattered 😂😂😂
Not only his performance against Shaq and Ewing should be praised, but going through Robinson in the WCF and outplaying great power forwards like Barkley, Malone and Rodman as they all put in time guarding Hakeem.
Everyone watch the first game of the 1994 Finals and see the difference in the first half and second. Stern made that call to the Refs and to make sure it wasn’t a sweep!
Lebron went to Hakeem to train in the low post. The following year, Lebron won his first ring. In 2009, Kobe trained with Hakeem. In 2010, the Lakers won their championship. There is a reason why Jordan picked Hakeem as his starting 5. In my eyes, Hakeem is the greatest because of his skills on both sides. He is one of the only players to win a championship without a single all-star on his 1994 team.
Look at all those unathletic plumbers... Modern fans live on UA-cam yet it seems like they havent spent an hour looking at older basketball. Everybody talking how Jordan would be averaging 40 but how about Hakeem? If Jokic is scoring such much yet is so much slower, so much less explosive and less strength, just how much would Hakeem score today? Who is stopping him? And dont get me that 3point nonsense, Jokic's points are majority from midrange, post and putbacks. You'd have to double him whole game. 5:58 just show me one play like this today, just show me a center today who can go for closeout then recover in such speed and then make monster block.

Hakeem was the BEST combination of offensive & defensive talent wrapped into 1 player EVER....
He would DESTROY in today's league 🏀🔥
All those post moves, and his last title run ended with a 3 in shaqs face. Legendary.
Hakeem is the Greatest center of all time and a top 5 player of all time in my opinion.
And he only picked up basketball at 16, what a player!
They won't see that since a lot of people will always bring up championships when it comes to the legacy of a great player.

The record Wilt Chamberlain would‘ve had. Only his last 173 games in the league alone he averaged 8 blocks a game.

That spin dunk on Ewing is the best move ever by a center to this day.
Man hakeem my goat center bro, i swear to god, he had everything
My favorite center of all time! Hakeem!!! 💪💪💪
you right the NBA media never talk about all time block record that Hakeem holding

If I'm picking my all time starting 5 them Hakeem is certainly my center

He was so smooth...😀😃😄🤠👏👏👏
Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!
I have Hakeem over Shaq personally 😭
The 93-94 & 94-95 Rockets would have destroyed MJ.
I believe so in one of them.
He was 5-1 in the early 90s vs Jordan bulls.
Well might have beaten him…..
The summit was so special to the Houston Rockets and the city.
I still cannot believe it is now Lakewood Church❤
He wore out the best centers of his era for titles. Big Pat put up a helluva fight doe.
Olajuwon was a smooth operator also he played soccer
Ewing couldn't stop Olajuwon in the 94 NBA Finals. Shaq couldn't either in the 95 NBA Finals. Olajuwon was legendary in those years.
The best of Wilt, Shaq, Russel, Jabbar and Olajuwon is The Dream, but people always put him at #5 lmao
31:42, best Rocket seconds in history.
I was in the building. The Dream embarrassed Shaq and shot Orlando
Prime Dream was literally unguardable.
39:51 one of the biggest choke moments of all time
I think it’s #1 cause he had 4 chances and missed all 4. 🤯🤯🤯
Who knew the rookie Robert Horry would become "Big Shot" Bob?
pretty jump shot \ post moves

Him and Shaq are easily the greatest centers of all time.
As well as Wilt and Kareem
@@simonforrest2522 nah.
Ewing's Hoyas had beaten PhiSlamaJama in collage, for title. Horry was outstanding in series.
I was at all 4 home games😎😎😎
Hakeem Olajuwon got his style from Bill Walton and Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
Moses Malone

When you watch too much present nba, and expect a foul to be called after almost every play
At that time, I have Hakeem ahead of All centers. I would have loved to see Hakeem's Rockets and Jordan's Bulls go at it. If Jordan hadn't retired

How Shaq and Ewing lost to a legendary center-
Because he was that great, but his prime is not long because of injury problems.
Hakeem had a ten year prime 1986-1996. Not bad.
It was the other half of the twin towers that caught the injuries
