    Hakeem was so ahead of his time... That spin move that he hit Ewing with (that had Sam Cassell going crazy on the bench) was absolutely insane for a big man.. Even Starks and Mason look totally bewildered 😂.. What a player

    Most underrated NBA superstar of all time. Everyone talks about Stockton's assists record and how it will be hard to break it but never about Hakeem's blocks record and that is the record that no one is ever breaking.

    • @frizzyrascal1493

      The record Wilt Chamberlain would‘ve had. Only his last 173 games in the league alone he averaged 8 blocks a game.

    • @artofmartialcinemaamc5334
      @artofmartialcinemaamc5334 6 місяців тому

      Idk. Wemby could break that record, not easily I would say but he averaged around 3.5 blocks a game in only around 29mpg. If he plays for a consistent 12-15 years & plays enough games with good health, he can challenge that record & he's the only one

    • @peterguidry6084
      @peterguidry6084 5 місяців тому

      @frizzyrascal1493 Wilt has a special place
      But Hakeem's Block record after the invention of the 3 point line makes it extra special.
      This is because players were starting to shoot further away from the basket. Even midrange shots started to get closer to the 3 point line because another option was available to players if they wanted the 3.
      Farther away means less opportunity especially for centers to block perimeter players shots
      Today's game, the 3 is out of control and the balance seems off though.

    • @frizzyrascal1493
      @frizzyrascal1493 5 місяців тому

      @@peterguidry6084 That is a good argument, the game obviously changed, however the three point line wasn’t used that much back in the 90’s. The game was still heavily centered around layups and good open mid-range shots.
      Hakeem is probably my third favorite center of all time, just because of his play style and the fluidity of his moves. Can’t put him above Kareem or Wilt however.

    Lebron went to Hakeem to train in the low post. The following year, Lebron won his first ring. In 2009, Kobe trained with Hakeem. In 2010, the Lakers won their championship. There is a reason why Jordan picked Hakeem as his starting 5. In my eyes, Hakeem is the greatest because of his skills on both sides. He is one of the only players to win a championship without a single all-star on his 1994 team.

    Look at all those unathletic plumbers... Modern fans live on UA-cam yet it seems like they havent spent an hour looking at older basketball. Everybody talking how Jordan would be averaging 40 but how about Hakeem? If Jokic is scoring such much yet is so much slower, so much less explosive and less strength, just how much would Hakeem score today? Who is stopping him? And dont get me that 3point nonsense, Jokic's points are majority from midrange, post and putbacks. You'd have to double him whole game. 5:58 just show me one play like this today, just show me a center today who can go for closeout then recover in such speed and then make monster block.
