Back in 2008, nobody was making any money on UA-cam. People were just posting videos about themselves and what they were interested in. Additionally, I didn't know anything about subscribers or monetization. I just wanted to share information that I hope somebody could find valuable. People started subscribing, and I felt incredible. And when I started getting feedback, my life improved as I felt that I truly found my success. Success for me was feeling like I mattered, not any material possessions.
I was filming every Friday after getting a six-pack of beer. People didn't realize that I was drunk in the early videos. I was not in a good place emotionally, and drinking was one of my coping mechanisms. UA-cam got my shit together. I chewed two cans of tobacco daily, and alcohol was my trigger. I stopped both, and my life truly got better. My relationships improved, my body improved, and I felt better in the morning. While I still enjoy wine, I don't get blackout drunk or drink irresponsibly.
My discussions on style branched off into grooming. I realized I couldn't be the only dude who wondered what to do with the hair on his butt cheeks. I've always been comfortable in my skin, so why not? What did I have to lose? During the earlier years, I was trying to figure out what was a popular topic. After checking out popular UA-camrs, the outrageous and outlandish seemed to create an audience. The more they cursed, the more popular they became. So I started posting things that were inconsistent with who I was and how I felt. I realized how insane I was acting and dropped the act. I have since deleted those videos.
Being authentic and vulnerable is when my channel started to scale. I began to make a little bit of money after applying for monetization. Then, sponsors began to pay attention. The Grooming Lounge was an early sponsor, along with Blank Label shirts. UA-cam was pure and innocent because people weren't making millions of dollars back then. You filmed and posted videos to help people or share something. That's why I always tell people to start a channel because you never know where it will lead. Look at me.
Just start -- you never know where it will lead. (1) If you want to make UA-cam your career, only worry about making videos about topics you're interested in. It will find an audience of like-minded people. (2) Don't worry about money. Do not go into UA-cam thinking you will someday make millions of dollars. (3) Start strategizing now about video topics that people want to watch. If you do that, and you do it authentically with the purity of intention, the money will come. (4) Don't worry about perfection. Still, to this day, I hate many of the videos I put out. But you just put it out and work the muscle. It's never going to be perfect. (5) Don't start off selling. The biggest mistake when creating content is the intention of making money or selling the audience on the first interaction. Do not ask viewers to buy anything immediately; that is a big mistake. If you want to start a website, purchase a URL and direct people to it for more tips and information. (6) Have viewers sign up for a newsletter. Capture people's email information and build a list. Then you can figure out what product you would like to sell, which could be an info product, a grooming product, apparel, or whatever interests you. You now have an audience with whom you're connected and close to from the valuable content you've given them.
It took me 8 to 9 years of posting videos regularly to get to a million subscribers. I also posted for five years before making a dollar from sponsorships or products. You don't need a fancy camera; you can do it on your phone. You never know where it will lead, but the connections you make and the feelings you get are no better gift.

I am not bashing Alpha's hard work that he has done to build a channel and his businesses. I even use his products, and all is well deserved. However, Alpha is a very small percentage of people that have made it on UA-cam. He is an early adopter and it is a very different landscape now. I am NOT saying you can't succeed with UA-cam now, you definitely can. I am just telling people that dont underestimate the work that needs to go in. I have been doing YT for 3 years. Yes, I have met great people on the way, started a side business, and am still learning more about myself and what I can provide to the world. However, for the first 2 years of posting content, I did not make a penny. Now comparison is the thief of joy, but don't compare your progress to Alpha's even after 8 years. Completely different people at different stages in life. Best of luck to anyone that reads this.

You make content that doesn’t have people feel the need to comeback or subscribe, it’s much of like a help desk. Your videos are more helpful then entertaining as well, so you do relay information well.. but it doesn’t have people get addicted to your personality.. add some bloopers in there make them laugh a bit, or make some jokes here and there or something.. lighten up the mood a bit.. that’s why I think biahiza has don’t so well in a similar genre. He keeps it entertaining, light, and fun.

@@elitetv1735 I admit I don't have that much charisma on camera. It's alot easier said than done to be more entertaining, which is a skill I don't have right now. Lol. My viewers are all searched based actually. I get ranked on Google and search on UA-cam frequently, but returning viewers are less to none once they get the information needed. How does one learn the skill to be more entertaining though?

Great video! In 2020, on a whim, I started making videos on UA-cam. No prior experience at all. No fancy editing. Only a laptop and a microphone. Most videos are only about 3 minutes long. Everything is unscripted. I talk about relationships, marriage, divorce, and living your best life. Presently over 6,000 subscribers and growing. I love making videos. The comments on my videos are terrific and inspiring. Just do it.

Great video!! As a small content creator on UA-cam (using alt account to tell you about these tactics), I know how hard it is to gain traction and attention from the beginning. Like many of you people, I was tired of creating quality content almost every day and getting only a few hundred views on my best days because of their algorithm. After that, I tried using some tools to ramp up my social presence, and honestly I don't regret it. Consistency, hard work (and a little bit of famester would always pay off). Good luck to all of you, you are going to make it soon.

Those were the days I felt the most depressed and was looking for a way out of non-supportive family in any way possible, but only the path / route that system has pre-set for us.
    - so, a much was going on and I was actually bullied on so many ways. Being it at home or school.
But - your channel has given me so much brightness and knowledge - that here I am today.
I am sharing my story, a knowledge & vision that I have both for me and communities of people that are looking either to better themselves or a way out of ground-breaking situations.

This piece of production deserves 300 million as opposed to 3K likes!! I appreciate you, man. I love the energy, the passion and most importantly, the genuineness. Unlike others, you're a REAL man to come out and openly share your flaws w/ your audience. None of us are perfect, but if one can learn to accept our flaws and turn them into an energy source, the sky's the limit. You remind me a lot of myself!! Again, I appreciate you and what you're doing for our fellow brethren. A lot of us men in our 40's & 50's are in a bind struggling to be healthy, fit & confidant. Most of us are over weight, out of shape, depressed and searching for answers. Juggling marriage, kids, 80 hour work weeks and bills leaves us w/ very little time if any to focus on ourselves. This video inspired me to do a very heartfelt video covering this topic by addressing these pressing issues w/ men, especially men in or around our age range. It's our duty as fit, strong and confidant men who have the fitness and health knowledge to extend our help to our brothers in need. If you're ever in the WEST LOS ANGELES area, I'd love to meet w/ you and perhaps get a workout in or lunch - I would offer you a mojito (MY FAVORITE!), but as you stated to the gentleman in the video that you don't drink and I can respect that. Great video - Raw, to the point and meaningful!! Thank you, man!!! 😎💪🏽🔥

Hey Aaron, I started a UA-cam channel about 10 months ago and am glad you are inspiring other content creators to follow their passion and create a business. I truly hope to get to your level one day and now I understand how much WORK, TIME and DEDICATION it goes into it.

Aaron I use your products along with a host of other products, but your videos has helped me obtain the motivation and enthusiasm to start a youtube channel, in self improvement and grooming tips for men. Although mines with be niche based, these videos I plan on making will be the types of videos I am absolutely thrilled to make and share with the world and I’m not going into this with the intentions of making money. I want to gain tangible skills such as editing, and scriptwriting, and if I do earn money in the process, it’s a side effect from all of my hard work and consistency of putting out content.

Brotha, I've been in a lost rut for some time now. Fortunately, I make a living doing voice-overs and I live my life on my own time. However, I feel a lack of fulfillment. I want to make more income. I want to feel like I'm doing more for society. Feel I have a purpose. I've never seen your channel before but I definitely recognize your face now that I've seen the older content you've posted. This video was probably the sign I needed because to see someone who lives in the same exact neighborhood as me who is doing what he loves is hella inspiring. Thank you.

I got retrenched about 2 years ago. I have always wanted to be a UA-camr, it was not about the money but more about what knowledge I have to share with the people. But I haven't started anything yet because I made tiny issues as obstacles; like I just had a baby in 2020, and he's now 3 yo, and so on.
So enough of all that, this video is really inspiring and I'll be making content really soon in my new UA-cam account. Thanks for this Aaron.

You taught me style yeah, but you also taught me humility and how to be a man. For that I will be forever grateful and I'm sure the sexy señorita in my life will too! Keep it up big bro.

That is definitely inspirational. I started my channel over 2 years ago and my videos still get about 12 impressions per day and I still can't find any of my videos when I search my niche on an incognito tab. I make them anyway, just for me because it's fun but I expect literally nothing at this point. It's pretty much like I don't exist, even with over 120 videos.

Hey man, thanks for the video. I should say thank you for the videos. I've watched. You can pretty consistently for the last few years. Recently, I've been thinking about really diving in and building my UA-cam page. I played around with it in the past as I'm a video producer, but I've been very busy working. However, recently my company decided to lay me off along with 400 other employees because of business needs. I don't hold it against them. I had a great time when I was there but now I have a lot of free time. I feel like I want to put those skills to use and build the life that I want. I'm not looking for success right away. I see that you've been successful, but it's been a long journey. A buckling in and super motivated now that I saw your video. Hoping that this channel that I'm creating is going to help people as much as your channel does too. Wishing you the best. Keep up the good stuff. I'll be watching. Have a good one. Stay positive
