Thamk you for the springtail comment and how they like moisture. That is something I have missed while searching info (or completely forgotten about it ^^; ) but it is something I will have to remember and write down for when I do get my soon to be springtail culture :) It looks great and really would not mind to see how your reptile room looks. I did watch this and the one a year later in the wrong order, but both looks great! Keep te videos coming and love your intro!
Thank you so much for this video. I have just finished setting up my first bioactive enclosure for my new Crested Gecko that I'm picking up tomorrow. I must have watched this video so many times to help me, although I have added a drainage layer to stop it getting too wet. I can't wait to get my little boy tomorrow and I hope he loves his new home as much as I do. Great work as always x
Phew, glad you did fall for the soil with a "built in" drainage layer like she did. That's a death sentence. They must have meant that the soil is fast draining. You can't really forego an actual drainage layer. It would be a death sentence for the vivarium
Yeah definitely. Springtails will dry out pretty fast if not kept constantly moist, but if she keep it constantly wet it will not be good for plants roots
My snake plants held up decently to my geckos, but they are conky little destructos. They've trampled about 25% of them. It's best if you can prop the snake plant next to some sturdy sticks.
Substrate soil can't have an actual built in drainage layer. It can contain bark or charcoal etc, content that makes it drain easier, but without a proper drainage layer, seperate from and under the soil, your substrate will be filled with a degree of standing water, which will breed fungus and decay.
@@theboss2815 it’s basically just a live environment rather that a sterile habitat... dranage later, plants, clean up insects (eat poop and mold and dead plants) etc. It is better cause it keeps humidity more stable, more interesting for animals, and looks better. Also you don’t have to clean up poop as much
Just a suggestion, you could cut plexiglass (sand it down or put a silicon border on the edges so they are smooth and not sharp for safety) then silicon it in place at the bottom, front of the enclosure (for the screen tanks) and that will work as a barrier for the substrate so it doesn’t fall out!!!(: love the videos!!
Hey Caleb here, good enclosure I just wanted to clear somethings up, this is not a bioactive enclosure. Bioactive enclosure need a layer at the bottom of either lava rocks or clay balls (those are the two most popular options there are others you can choose just do some research).
Omg you are so awesome❤️ i love your video’s. You are so sweet to your pets❤️ I wish i had so Many animals like you😊Can you help me, btw? My chameleon “Lasse” wants to get out, and he is scratching on The glass, but When i Will take him out, hes getting SO angry, and running away. Pls help me❤️😊
@@reptiliangarden I used it with my iguana back in the day. Also with my Collard lizard. It helps with them not eating sand or subtrait. I did put moss and plant and wood and stones. With my red foot tortoise she gets her peat moss and flat stones and her hide. Ps keep up the great work
I want to do this, but where would I put my crested gecko while I redo its tank? Or would I have to buy a new tank? I really don’t want to do that unless I sell it after maybe? Idk
I’m confused what does this do that’s better besides look better. like I s it more efficient? And are the live plants needed caus I’m thinking abt doin the same thing.
Hey I really having trouble with my research and finding which bulb is best for my crested gecko do you have any preferences and what are you using right now
@@reptiliangarden try just take some branches and experiment with them... i was thinking few times: i can´t put more braches there. but trust me you can always find the way. good luck
It does a bit, I've used it for that purpose. The only thing is that with really caked on hard water stains it may not remove them completely. But then again I just used paper towels so maybe using a plastic wool scrubber would've worked better. Use purified water from then on after cleaning.

You should have added a rock layer with mesh on top to make the drainage layer

Someone looks very happy in their new and improved enclosure ☺️
I just can't... how crested geckos sleep with their eyes open. So creeppyyyyy
But their crests that look like eyelashes make them soooo cute 🥺
Beutiful setup! I’m in the middle making my very first bioactive at this moment!!!
Thank you!!! Good luck with yours!!! 🌿✨💕
What’s difrent about bio active?

Tried using your Joshs frogs code and it’s saying it’s not valid. Just an FYI
Awesome video! I know how hard it is to make two videos a week! But glad you did it!
Im always a fan of your natural eco system tank builds
Thank you!!! 💕💕💕
I adore that enclosure, lucky gecko 🦎
Such a cool video! I've always been interested in crested geckos! You are super cool! Keep it up! :)

that looks awesome way better than a paper towel !!!👍
I got so much inspiration. Thank you so much💕
Yay!!! Thank you so much!!! 💕💕💕💕
You just gained a new subscriber! Very informative
You can always use reptibark if your worried
So I’ve picked up 150 gallon enclosure for a crested gecko. Wanting to do a waterfall and was wondering if I needed a drainage layer for that?
Okay but why is oakley so cute 🥺
She is perfection 💕
Wow Tricia this is such an awesome video I love it.😃👍
I loved this so much!!! Just subbed ❤️
6:44 what did she saaaaaaaayyyyyyyy 😭
First plant is an Arrowhead plant!
Where did you get your cresties from? Also do you have any recommendations for good online gecko places? Im looking into getting a crested gecko soon!
Heat? Never had a single heat source for my crested geckos. Room temp 100% and thriving fine.
Thank you, it looks real nice.
Thank you so much!!!!
You should make a video on how you keep your mice. Or a video on all your past animals in memory. Also Awesome video!
I just put mice in the freezer! And maybe! 💕 thank you!
i really really like it
Looking much better imo. I'm sure Oakley will love it too! 💞
She has already been more active! 💕🌱
I love these setup videos!
Beautiful enclosure 🙌💯
Thanks looks awesome ❤️ your videos always give me inspiration. My crested gecko is still a baby I’m excited for going bio active in the future
Thank you so much!!!! 💕💕💕

Have you ever used the fake indoor out door green grass carpet. Works great. If gets dirty you can wash it.
I haven’t! Sounds cool!

Put him in a Tupperware with air holes. No need for another tank
Perfect timing! I just decided yesterday to try and make my gargoyle's terrarium bioactive again, this video will definitely be helpful
I’m confused what does this do that’s better besides look better. like I s it more efficient? And are the live plants needed caus I’m thinking abt doin the same thing.
Bioactive means self sufficient meaning it cleans it self you will never have to use new substrate and it more replicates a natural environment !
Hey I really having trouble with my research and finding which bulb is best for my crested gecko do you have any preferences and what are you using right now
No bulb is best. They can overheat easily and are comfortable at room temp! If you want to add uvb, you can use a t5 5.0!
I have a somewhat invasive question. Does your income from youtube cover your pet expenses? You can not answer if you want of course
I recommend put more branches there...
It’s pretty filled out, I don’t think I can fit anymore since the cork bark takes up so much space 😅 don’t want to overfill it
@@reptiliangarden try just take some branches and experiment with them...
i was thinking few times: i can´t put more braches there. but trust me you can always find the way. good luck
@@adamjezik4408 ill see what I can do! I’ll have more space for branches in the 2x2x2s for sure
Did you forget the drainage layer??
It’s not necessary with the biobedding from joshsfrogs!
Would you be able to link what you used in your video? If so, thank you so much!!!
Everything is from joshsfrogs.com you can use my discount code reptiliangarden15 and save 15%

Does distilled white vinegar remove water stains?? I couldn’t really see how much it removed so I was just wondering if anyone knows if it works
