It was shortly after Halloween in 2015. It was the very first time I got on the YouNow platform. I was feeling a little bored that evening and I was exhausted from taking my nephew trick or treating, so I was trying to think of something to do that will not make me as bored, so I decided to start a YouNow profile so I can make new friends. After I created my profile, I began was searching through the suggestions and I saw a thumbnail pic of this beautiful lady with dyed maroon hair and a studio mic by the name of Brittany J Smith! So I tapped that and you were covering Adele's current hit at the time Hello. The moment I heard your voice, you were belting out notes at amazingly high vocal ranges. Immediately I was a fan right then, I was literally blown away by how incredibly powerful your pipes (vocal cords) are. I was in love with your singing instantly. A few months later, around springtime, during a YouNow stream, you performed your cover of Fight Song live & gave your viewers such wonderful advice for people who don't feel confident about themselves or their future and this really, really helped me. I remember telling you about my autism that day and how your advice really helped me. You replied to me with a very sweet response and still this very day, I thank you for that advice on your broadcast. We have been the very best of friends since that Friday evening we met. You have always been beyond kind to me, saying all those nice things to me and it always makes me happy.🥲Your sweet kind words always make me cry tears of joy and happiness and you are the sweetest friend I could ever, ever ask for. You're so wonderful as my friend that I consider you as my sister. You are that loyal and supportive to me as a friend. I have never, ever had a friend like you in my entire life. I wish there were more people like you in this world because the world would be a much better place if there were more like you. Even as a latino, I know I benefit from some privilege for having lighter skin than others and it would still be colorism to darken my skin for the purpose of portraying someone of another race with darker skin. It's an otherwise beautiful performance, but the distraction of the brownface is really polarizing and disappointing.
@@gazellegarcia3586 Hi Gazelle! What you don't know is that I am latina. :) I've stayed out of the sun for the last few summers due to fear of cancer, but when I tan I am that color. I didn't just paint myself a color that I myself can not achieve. I added a very slight tan for the video in order to capture Moana's beautiful skin tone, which I actually have naturally. I toiled over whether or not to, because I just knewwww comments like this would happen. But ultimately, I decided it was too important to the overall look of the character to not portray her amazing coloring out of fear of being misunderstood. I'm glad you enjoyed the performance though. Just wanted to shed a little light on your comment. :)
