Adam Levine hit the notes more easily and consistently. At the end, Usher was almost screaming to get to the high note, then quickly came back down. Those two are amazing vocalists though.

To me, Patti's sounded more like belting that is consistent with her entire range, while Aretha's is more like vocalizing as high as possible in the mixed register. Aretha's reminded me of how Gwen Stefani reached D6 in early recordings (back when she could sing) - using a mixed voice technique to scream. It sounds more clean than Patti's, but also not really like the rest of Aretha's voice if that makes sense.
