This started as a test shoot to try out both the new Cinema Camera 6K and the complete set of Sirui Jupiter Macro Primes including the 75 and 100mm but I decided after the fact to turn this into a mini documentary to make it more interesting to watch than just test footage.
I filmed it in 2 hours by myself. The light was super harsh as it was during the afternoon and the light also kept changing.
The green trees behind us also made it tricky to keep the same colour across the whole shoot.
I decided to film this in Open Gate as I thought it suited both the activity and the scenery. Personally I think it really helped to get a sense of scale and I could fit a large portion of the rock face.
It was a great little test to use both the camera and the lenses in a documentary style.
I really love these lenses and am very happy with the images/look I managed to capture. Being able to combine fast apertures and macro capabilities on all focal lengths was amazing and made for interesting and beautiful shots in my opinion!
Definitely my favourite camera / lens combo at the moment.
Settings: BRAW 8:1, 23.98 & 36 fps.
Lenses used: 35, 50, 75 & 100mm.
I will make a review of the lenses (and the camera) soon so stay tuned!

Here is a mini documentary shot with the new BMCC6K and the Sirui Jupiter Macro Cine Primes.
Loving this combo so far!
Cheers,
Flo
Great work! The open gate aspect ratio works really well here! I think the highlights look great considering the time of day it was shot.
Thanks@@Fedorevsky And yes I really enjoyed shooting Open Gate for this one as I could fit so much whilst still using different focal lengths :)
What are you using for the handheld work? Stabilization in post or a gimbal for this shoot? My micro-jitters are so frustrating trying to shoot handheld.
It's interesting, this is helping me realize that some of my negative feelings about more even aspect ratios like 4:3 just came from the fact that everything I saw shot on it was older low quality camera footage from the early youtube days. Seeing something well shot, graded, and paced at this ratio is helping me appreciate the more intimate and centralized compositions you can have here. Really lends itself to the verticality of this subject too- very nice!
Thank you for the positive feedback!! And yes, I agree, the ratio really helped for this shoot :)
Amazing shots, it looks like IMAX!
Thank you!!
Holy cow. Amazing colors. And french, finest sounding language on earth.
Haha thanks so much ☺️
Always a pleasure to see a real-world use-case instead of a video only focused on testing a lense (even if in y our case, you always get great footage anyway :)).
Thanks for the kind feedback !!
super belles images
Merci!!
Wow, image quality is so good... The detail on this new camera is really great. The colors just pop. Great job Flo.
Thanks so much !!
Beautiful! The format you chose was perfect for climbing to show more of the route in frame! I miss climbing; I wish I was in closer proximity to it 😢. Lovely work as always!
Thank you mate!! Open Gate was perfect for this. Come and visit anytime :)
Loved it man! Your footage is always so good
Thanks so much guys, means a lot coming from you especially for a project like this ☺️🙏
@@OfTwoLands Its amazing! If we ever find ourselves in the same location lets make an adventure film together.
I would absolutely love it! Sounds like a plan ☺️
Gorgeous film Flo, loved your composition and right from the beginning the look alongside how you designed the subtitles made me feel like I was watching an old documentary in 6K! Keeping the opengate feel too is so clean!
Glad you liked it mate, thank you!! I love Open Gate, especially for alpine content :)
This is very well done. Great framing and great coverage. Camera / lens quality looks amazing! The close ups are my favorite!
Glad you enjoyed it, mate and thanks for watching!!
Those macro lenses are stunning. Each closeup had me in awe. I love seeing these adventures you get up to with your sister and co. PS we need a BTS of you climbing too
Thanks so much my man!! Such good lenses 😍
The bts of me climbing would be super short, as I would probably fall and smash my face in the first 5 mins 😂 I was perfectly fine filming from the ground 😅
Tres tres cool, Florent! Love your work always!
Thanks so much ☺️🙏
Your work never fails to amaze Flo! Really made those Jupiter primes shine!
Thanks a lot!!
@OfTwoLands Love it! Great demo of the camera and lenses. Thanks for making this!
Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Looks great as always man:D
Thanks man!!
Incredible, as always!!
Thanks so much!!
Well done mate! I love the look and pace.
Thanks so much mate!! Was a great little test :)
Thanks for footage and cinematography 📽️
Thanks for watching!!
Very cool mini doc! Beautiful visuals. Makes me wanna go out and buy the blackmagic cinema camera 6k
Thank you!! Such a great cam 🎥
Beautiful Work!!!!
Thanks 🙏
Incredible as usual :)
C'est cool de voir ce genre de format aussi de ta part,
keep up the good work ;)
Merci beaucoup!! :)
Great! But I’m still waiting for my C/Y Zeiss lenses review with the new BM Cinema cam :)
Just received the adapter :)
@@OfTwoLands Thanks!!
Really nice Flo. Great pairing of glass&camera too °¬) Really nice images.
Thanks so much ☺️🙏
Wow. As much as I've seen people saying this camera is just more of the same, it sure seems to get as close to an Arri image as I've ever seen for the money. Just breathtaking.
Thanks so much!! Definitely isn't the same as the other Pockets. This is also in 4K compressed on YT. The original 6K file has so much more :)
@@OfTwoLandswait I am seeing EF->L adapter in the gear used list. Is this on the full frame or the regular 6k? I thought your FF had an L mount.
@@turbophat how are you confused?
Wow How come color is so rich, I LOVE the look of this video.
Is there any tutorial how to color grade like this?
Is it just color grading or lens also was the factor?
Thank you!! I graded this with Filmconvert (link in bio) and I also made a video last year about my color grading process :)
This is truly amazing! I wish you were still here in Australia
Thanks a lot 🙏
I'm just falling in love with that 3:2 full frame look. The composition feels much more thought out, like photography.
The geomerty and symmetry that format allows is really appealing !
I really feel like the image that camera produces is something never seen in a BM camera yet, it really stands out. Enormous dynamic range and color rendering with those lenses is just a dream.
Can't wait to have my hands on one !
Edit : And by the the way, I think it is your best work shown on this channel as today, love the pace of the editing and really awesome grading !
Thanks so much!! And I agree, the image on this camera is beautiful and shooting open gate makes for interesting images :) It really suited this sport as well!
Salut, agréable à regarder merci. niveau stabilité tu as fait quelque chose ? gyro ? viewfinder ou pas ? Merci
Merci!! J’avais un Easyrig et tripod. Pas utilisé la Gyro ou viewfinder. Cheers ☺️
Lovely film. What is the colour consistency between lenses like on the Jupiters? I’m tied between Jupiters and Athena primes, I love the look of Jupiters though
Thanks!! Really good honestly ☺️
Great work. Thank you. 👍🏻🏝📸🌋☀️☕
Thanks for watching!!
just wow! i am blown away by the beautiful shots you and this camera produce!
have you by chance flown this on a gimbal at all yet? i was hoping through the sliiiighty altered body, it might be a bit easier to balance and make steady gimbal shots with. the p4k is a nightmare😩
Thank you !! And no, I haven't used it on a gimbal yet but I think it would be very similar to using the 6K Pro.
pfffff AMAZING!!
Thank you 🙏
excellent work! Loved it! question; Any reason why you shot it at 36FPS? thanks!
Thank you!! I wanted to see how it looked for documentary work and more action sequences. I was still testing the camera out :)
@@OfTwoLands I see then you converted to 24 FPS? looks great! 👏
I have this lenses and using them with the pocket 4k you are tempting me to buy the new 6k for sure
Such a good combo!
love it you shoot in full frsme but the lenses are made for super 35? also could you tell whats the name of the srtlist track?
Beautifully shot and composed!! @AdamOndra collab??
Haha I'm down !! Thanks mate :)
Hey man, great work!
May I ask, what ND filter you used for this shoot ?
Keep up the good work!
Hey, thanks!! I used the NISI cinema ND4 in combination with the rotating VND from the C5 matte box.
Footage looks amazing. What are your thoughts on having to punch in to the 3:2 if you want a 16:9 end result but don't want to compromise on acquisition? I think my main gripes with the camera are lack of ProRes and the fact that you can't record a 4K image without going into S35. I feel torn about it since the image is so nice.
Thanks for doing this test you great. I have a couple of question. How many space you take to this 2 hours of film ? and you any info about the date the camera be lauch? Thanks
Thanks for watching!! It was about 450GB and not sure about the release, I've read it might be mid October but not entirely sure.
Looks nice but I’m curious. What ISO’s did you you shoot most of these at? The highlights look more harsh than I’m used to but that totally depends on the ISO’s you chose. On bright daylight scenes I usually shoot at 800-1000 because the highlight rolloff is smoother and I don’t necessarily need the cleaner shadows when most of the scene is bright.
ISO 400 for the whole shoot. The light was incredibly bright and changing.
@@OfTwoLands I see. You ever try to shoot these type of scenes at iso 800-1000 while using heavy ND to control the bright light? If not, you should try it. Much smoother rolloff I bet some of these scenes would look even more beautiful. It’s like an extra full stop of dynamic range in the highlights. Nice work man!
Yeah when I learned this, it was a gamechanger. It feels/sounds counter-intuitive, but it works once you see it and understand it.@@RandomMotoThings
Does the camera have a de-squeeze feature when shooting anamorphic?
Yes, it does. It changes depending on the resolution and aspect you’re filming though.
Is there a reason you use the Sigma adapter rather than some of the other alternatives for ef->L mount? Just wondering as I have the camera on preorder and noticed a huge price difference between adapters. (This video is beaut 🙏)
Thank you!! I had read that the sigma was solid and it is. It’s also a brand I know and trust. So far it’s been great! I’m sure they are others that work well too but I preferred to play it safe :).
Beautiful
Thanks!!
never seen a backwards stopper knot on a figure of eight like that before...?
Nice one! I wonder if a a bit more ambient sound would make a difference. The voiceover is not a bad idea, but especially the female voice would benefit from some cleaner sound (less room).
This wasn’t meant to be a mini doc, just test footage, so couldn’t spend too much time on SFX and also couldn’t redo the VO :).
I was a bit disappointed when this camera was released. But you can't deny how nice the image looks and the braw davinci workflow is sooo hard to replace.
This camera is amazing!! The image is just too good ☺️
very nice
Thank you!!
beauty
Thanks!!
Does this camera seem like over sharpened to you? It is incredibly hard to find any example footage from this camera, it is as if nobody bought it lol
Beautiful colors and grade Flo! Do you find yourself ETTR or anything like that? Also, do you preload one of your LUTs or how to you monitor while filming?
Thank you!! I exposed for the skin and tried to managed the highlights as best as I could.
When it comes to monitoring I have both a Gen5 to Gen4 lut as well as my own 'preset' just to get an idea. I also use the BM 6k to Extended video. Just depends on the shoot :0
Hehehe these are temptations
Haha, great lenses!
how many batteries do u take with you for such a trip for the bmcc
This was shot in 2h and I used the Core SWX and still had some juice left after :)
@@OfTwoLands ahh thanks ^^
very cool… what resolution did you use to upload on youtube?
Thanks!! I uploaded the original 6K resolution but UA-cam treats it as 4K since it’s not 4320 high. My test footage was uploaded in 8k to minimise compression but this would have been too big.
@@OfTwoLands thank you for your answer :) can I ask one more? what codec did you use to upload? Quicktime prores? or just h.264? your vid color grading is so nice and cozy, so I am curious :)
One interesting thing I just noticed is that if you rotate your iPhone vertically and then switch to a horizontal position, UA-cam will automatically crop the video to a 16:9 aspect ratio, cropping out subtitles completely and filling the whole screen.
I’m using a iPhone 14 pro max as reference cause this may not happen in other phones
You can pinch the screen and it'll go back to normal I think :)
@@OfTwoLands Yep that’s correct! I just thought about mention it cause is actually te first UA-cam video that I recall it does that 🤔 I wonder if it has anything to do with the new aspect ratio
Is it just me, or does UA-cam app on iPhone crop the 4:3 ratio in fullscreen?
I think it does but you can 'pinch' it to go back to normal :)
