- In this week's video, I breakdown my custom, Death Star Space Station from Kenner and explain everything you need to know to create one yourself!
I repainted most of the set and added movie accurate card stock panels and decals as well, enjoy!

As a kid who had one of the Kenner playsets as a kid, I do not make this comment lightly; this is an improvement over the original. This custom set looks a lot more like the death star from the film than the Kenner set did. I will always love the original, but daggone if this thing isn't even better. Nice job!!!

I got that playset for my 8th birthday. Next to the Kenner Millennium Falcon it was the coolest toy I ever owned.
Fist off, I absolutely love and appreciate custom work, especially when it's executed with a high attention to detail and skillfully. Custom work reflects the customizer/artist and is unique from everything else as a result! Your Death Star custom is amazing and waaay closer to the actual Death Star. My cousin had this and though i liked it, I always felt it didn't have that DS feel. It almost felt cheap and quick. Yours, on the other hand (Luke pun intended), gives me that DS feel that Kenner should've given us decades ago. Really, really nice work, Bro! Love it!

Don't be too proud of this technological terror you constructed. The ability to take a rather drab original Kenner Death star and make it a playset masterpiece pales in comparison to... uh? I can't think of anything that this actually pales too.

I remember the vintage Death Star playset. I like the explosive turret, elevator tower and trash compactor. It's better than the British/Canadian half dome cardboard version. I like the custom painted and different cardboard version. I hope that there will be a different DS playset where you get to have separate levels like the Detention Block AA 23 w/Trash Compactor, Swing across chasam or Duel in Death Star hanger bay.

I had this as a kid- many fun hours. I've always been curious to see someone 'expand' this playset by adding at least one set of floors on each side of a full set. Having all three sets of floors use the same elevator piece. You could add actual cells, a control room, whatever.

This is a beautiful custom. If Kenner were smart, they'd re-issue the old playset but with this realistic aesthetic. I'm admired your custom for awhile now and it's enough to make me want to hunt down another Death Star and make one myself! Great work!
I do believe Dave at Toy Polloi did a custom floor for one of these you can download. This is way better than the original, ideal custom for an old battered damaged Death Star, I wish Hasbro re released some of the old playsets.

Yes, I took the seat section off and unscrewed the panel holding the spring mechanism with the hook stop
