I got this the Christmas of 1979 from my aunt and uncle. I will never forget that Christmas! What a great play set you have there Joey! Great instruction. My favorite part of the play set was the trap door into the trash compactor.
🙌 I absolutely love this play set 😄 I actually always pretended and used it to recreate it like Bespin City. The trash hole 🕳️ I used it for the carbon freeze chamber 😂The 2nd floor I used it like the extended walkway where Luke and Vader have their light saber duel😆I feel like setting mine up now 😉 Happy collecting bro 😎👊
An amazing playset. I think I have a spare strut in a box of parts somewhere. I’ll fish it out and send it to you along with a few other bits you might like! I’d definitely buy this at the inflation rate as a playset!
I see a lot of people had the same experience as me. This was possibly the best toy I ever received in my childhood. I remember putting it together and later doing crazy repairs as I broke it here and there over the years (there are still caulk remnants on one part). Great stuff!
Thanks for watching Chris! I can see this one breaking during normal play for sure back when I was a kid. We weren't exactly gentle withe them. But it's one of the most durable toys made by Kenner, though. This IS one of the best!
Hey Matt! WOW that’s pretty rad you have your original in your collection still! None of my original playsets made it to adulthood with me. Wish they did
@@thepadawancollectorofficial Mine's definitely shows the love it has received over the years....can't find the rope, cannon is broken, foot pegs snapped off. But it's still one of my favorite things in my collection!
What an apsolutely beautiful play set! Easy to assemble, made of durabole plastic and with 4 floors making it a kids set. As always, a great video brother and I think you need to deplay all this toy sets open , in acrylic cases, so everyone can see and aprreciate the beauty of 1970-80s toys.
@@thepadawancollectorofficial Remember, you start this journey with only a few figures, and look where you are today! You will do it and we will be there to see it happen!!
When displaying, do not lock the laser cannon in place. That is why so many of the latching mechanisms are broken. That thin bit of plastic can't hold under stress under long periods of time. Just gently insert the gun without latching it. Only latch it when you want to show off the mechanism.
I have this set, it is a nice display piece. You are lucky that your Cannon is in good shape, as most I seen, including mine has some broken tips. Mine is a bit rough in spots, but I don't mind as it gives it some character, and I was fortunate to pickup the rope from a friend at a toy show a few years back for a really great price.
Never had the Kenner Death Star in the UK, in fact I've never actually seen one in real life! But I had the Palitoy cardboard version and that was awesome. In fact, based on looks alone, I'd say it was probably better than the Kenner one. Now, if they had made a plastic version of the cardboard one, that would have been so cool. Maybe a project for Stan Solo or the Next 17?
I have both and they both display well and play well. Layout wise the Palitoy version is better, but there are features of the Space Station like the canon, trash compactor, and trash monster that make it awesome. Thanks for watching HST!
Hi Joey! I'm sure That Junkmans done a video on how to construct one of these. I was lucky with the unboxed one I got as it had the often missing rope and the Dianoga and it doesn't have the annoying 'Gun Droop' that so many DSPs get with age. It comes to all of us in the end... 😂
I would look on vintage Star Wars Facebook groups and put up a post asking if anyone has one. There are several Facebook groups who also have weekly posts where you can ask for what you and and most likely people will respond to you with a part you need
Enjoyed seeing your build of this one again Joey. This certainly was an amazing set with so many play features. And while adjusted for inflation to $80+ today, you can bet that if it was offered today, it would be twice that or more. IIRC, this was one of the first sets you picked up for your playset run. Since filming this, have you been able to go back and get any of the little bits that you wanted to replace? Just curious. Until the next video my friend. MTFBWY Always
Hey Mopar! I have recently went back and started trying to collect the small items. I haven’t had any luck getting the new beam and I just bought the catalog but it went to a wrong address so I lost that one
I hope this video was useful for you. If it was, please give it a like and subscribe to the channel
hello friend... any link to the gun spring replacement part? thanks

That’s awesome of your aunt and uncle to give this to you 🙌🏼🙌🏼
i loved this set when i was a kid. seeing you put it all back together again. brings me back to those younger years.
It’s all about the vintage nostalgia 😂
I remember getting a Death Star as a child. It's was my favorite Christmas gift that year...memories...
Gotta love those memories!
Love this play set, my cousin received this for Christmas in 1978 and was jealous and had to get one for myself
Super rad that you have one!

Had this as a kid. One of the best playsets ever made ❤️
That’s so rad you had this back then. I would have loved this when I was little

Wow thanks Gary!!! Yea this one is a top notch Playset!
Got it for Christmas in 1978 when I was 7! Man I miss that thing!
Awww man! What an awesome gift to get as a 7 year old! As long as that thing was played with, it’s ok that you don’t have it today.
Great presentation of your death star station Joey!
Thanks Pascal 🙌🏼

Hey Tucker! It’s going to be a fun hunt getting those that’s for sure. Happy hunting my friend 🙌🏼

I would love to have enough space to display all the sets built and the boxes by them. One day :)

That’s a really great tip!
Most of mine is glued together
I wanted to customize one and may consider glueing it together

You are right about some things giving the piece character. That’s a great way to look at it
I have one in mint condition on display. The instructions don't tell how to apply the sticker labels but I used the box as a guide.
I think me and my dad did that for slave 1 back in the day

On the second floor, the floor part that is coving the bridge is reversed. The figure peg should go closest to where the bridge extends.
Thanks for the tip PM!

Awesome! Thanks for watching Acro! I need to search for that video then :). But now I dont need to search.
nice!! where can i get a gun spring replacement? need one badly

What materials did you use to build a blackened out room?
I just used foam core panels to cover the widows and black out drapes to get any spill

@@thepadawancollectorofficial Oh geez - sorry to hear that Joey. Hopefully you'll come across another for a reasonable price. Good luck on the hunt!
Couldn’t find one, found one in 5 secs
What couldn’t u find?
