This is a thing of beauty. I had no idea the playset looked so good. It's the colors (and cardboard illustrations) that really make it dated. Hasbro must not have the mold to that gun anymore. That looks good by modern standards and would be great for any modern DS Gunner to sit in.
I'm amazed Kenner did as good a job as they did on this playset. Back then it wasn't about the details. This repaint and resculpt is really good. Kenner/Hasbro engineers take note.
Neatly design playset. With more computer primary ignition, skeptical elevator design and mouse droids. You guys did an amazing job. Looks awesome vintage 😁👍.
looks like a whole other play set with all the customization & extra kibble on the control consoles . the side walls you have in the back ground gives it an authentic touch too .
Those panel walls are supposed to be for 6 inch figures but they are nice and tall thus covering more area in a photo shoot. I bought them from GTP Toys. Galactic Trading Post Toys.
I got my Death Star playset for my 6th birthday in 1979. Mine only lasted for about 2 years. The plastic it was made from was very brittle and prone to cracking very easily.
I dig that too. The shiny metal sticks out. He has a crazy cool Millennium Falcon with LED for sale along with a Diorama Star Killer Base on his eBay page. Sick work.
overall pretty sweet! this was one of my favorite toys as a kid. it just wasn't playtime without its presence, lol. i think he could have done better on the paint in terms of not painting the bottoms of the support beams so they fit and the circles around the elevator look atrocious, but really decent for the most part. not too shabby for the money. it makes me want to see if anyone has ever tricked one out with lights and sounds. i kind of have a desire to make a playset/diorama based on this, just a little more spacious, lol. and sturdier! hey, it's hard for a kid not to break these things, the plastic was just so brittle sometimes. i always wanted the cannon to be able to fire stuff, lol. now, though, lights would be just as cool. (while the paint job on the gun is really good, i question why you'd make it look so worn as if it was heavily used and not maintained. just a nit.) you should find out if the panels are original or not, those are worth a couple of bucks if authentic. i agree, the paint on the trash door was really well done. i think it was worth the money, nit-picks and all. :) you can fix any flaws, but i doubt i would bother....
Hello .looks pretty awesome 😍. Its just I couldn't do that with my Death star I love the original look. Just wondering how has the paint help up now that a few years has past. Looks good though!
Thanks for the awesome video, it started a fire in me to build one that’s very similar with a few variations, I love it !!! I really enjoy your channel and I also subscribed tonight. Thanks again. ✝️🇺🇸🤙🏻🅰️
The gun, control panels, and especially the trash compactor look really good. The white lights along the length of the elevator shaft, however, look sloppy. Painting the tabs and slots on the support beams was a bad idea. That would have been hidden anyway, when assembled. (maybe you can remove the paint from those with some type of liquid remover, so that it will fit better. but be careful, those beams are pretty fragile.) I always wondered why the original floors were white, and not black, like in the movie. I thought about painting mine, but I want to keep it original. That rope swing was a little lazy. He could have at least used a real string or something. Perhaps it was just a placeholder, to let you know where it was, so you could put something else there. (I am glad to say that I still have my original plastic one on mine.) As far as that gun, I would say that most of them are probably broken. Mine has the same problem. There is a small plastic hook, on the underside, that is spring loaded and designed to lock the gun in place when you push it down onto the mount. It was simply too flimsily made to be able to withstand the repeated pressure of holding down that gun and "exploding" it off with the release lever. It should have been a metal part. Since you are using more modern figures, you could probably get a hold of the modern Dianoga "Trash Monster" that came in a boxed set of figures some time in the early 2000's. All in all, nice find, sir. MTFBWY.
This is a lovely custom, the paint job makes the details pop beautifully. I wonder if this was an item you have parted with in order to be able to fit the Katana in?
Sorry, but the paint job is not that great. A little extra time and imagination would've made this a much better piece of work. If you are going to repaint or alter vintage, you should go all in. Just me.

Thanks for watching! Would be cool if Hasbro could make an updated version.

Great use of what was otherwise probably a beat up old playset. This was probably the most fragile of the vintage SW playsets.

How did I not see this before??? Amazing work! I want one!!!
19:10. Can we take a moment to respect the beard in the trash compactor glass? F for respect.
Awesome definitely will be a great set peace for stop motions
Thanks. I have some more spacewalls on the way to go with it too. I will do a review on them too. Thanks

the bottom lever makes the gun explode . I have some broken beams on mine as well . those beams can be a bit fragile .
Ohh okay. Well it doesn't work but I don't need it to. Thanks for informing me.

2021 check in 🙋🏻♂️😀🇨🇦👍✌
The trash compactor monster is called a Dianoga.
Ohh okay. Thank you.
the tractor beam set up's nice too . really pops .

Thats awesome. Love it. Have you seen Agatha Vincent's Obi Wan home diorama? OMG. dude!
Thank you. I do not believe I have. Old Ben is my favorite character so I will have to check it out. Thank you.

That is sick man badass
Thank you. I have decades of Kenner Death Star playing / admiring to do. haha

Consider a spray seal to protect paint
Thanks you.
This is exactly how Kenner should have designed it, you made a very good job and I wish I could have one of These Versions ;o)

Awesome my friend!

I love your channel it’s so cool and if you know how to do stop motion I would do it
18:23 Pardon me boy, could that be Diaonoga poo poo? (joke stolen directly from Mark Hamill.)
lol
love it .... (L143)
Shouldve had original figures with it
Good idea, but I could have done better. the license plate ruins it for me

Very true
