How good wa Bastian Schweinsteiger actually? #GOAT
New episode of a documentary series where I plan to present all the greatest players of all time and then give them a score so a ranking of the best players can be created. In this episode we take on Bastian Schweinsteiger who played for Bayern Munich for most of his career, not only one of the greatest midfielders of all time but one of the greatest players of all time. See how Bastian Schweinsteiger ranks and just how good he actually was. - Спорт
We miss personalitys like him in the german national team. Schweini is a legend.
We have in Kimmich
@@ShankzZ97 thats right at least. Joshua is a beast
@@rap4live39 time for kroos to step down. kimmich-goretzka-gündogan could be perfect.
@@natanulsiref yeah. Ilkay is in an insane form right now
@Mikhail Abramovic Berezovsky ur not even german
Incredible player. Transformed his career from winger to centre midfield.
For sure.
And at the end to a Center back
Modric did the same
Toni kroos
Winger to centre midfield to defensive midfield
July 13th, 2014. When it counted most, he played the game of his lifetime. Götze scored the winning goal but Schweinsteiger was the man who made the difference. When the doctors were treating him on the sideline and he stepped back on the pitch, covered in blood and sweat, I think everybody watching the game felt that there was no way we were gonna lose that game and I think the Argentine players knew it too. Legend!
IKR ... they kept beating, fouling, ellbowing him in the face and he always returned to the pitch. If one person is to be credited with the World Cup win its Schweinsteiger. He wanted that trophy and he won it by shere force of will. He even got metall clamps in his face to get that title, for goodness sake!
In 2006, he was the one player that scared me when Italy faced Germany in the semi-finals...
I mean im always scared of Italy as a whole 😂
but now everything scares italy, man. can't even win vs sweden
@@pirateclick1d169 bruh that was in 2017,now Italy won or drew the last 15 matches

I agree with most, though he could get a 10 in mentality just for his performance in the world cup final alone lol. Good video though!
wtf, thx, this was my first thought when I heard 8/10
What a player! So complete, versatile, energetic, consistent, and successful! He had almost everything you'd want in a midfielder, including leadership and a winning mentality, and he basically won it all for club and country! One of the very best midfielders of his generation!
Schweini was one of my favorite midfielders...beast in his prime, you could not take the ball away from him...and he was the motor of bayern 2013, probably the team that played the best football ever...
2010 barca played the best football ever
@@Quotivationn well their tiki taka was more or less boring mary go round till they found a crack in the defense, didnt really like it, i was more into barca when ronaldinho played there...bayern 2013 was fast, direct, no bullshit football, dortmund played similar, that finale was a treat to watch...that is just my opinion
@Eric Jungmann 2020 was a crazy year, i think bayern took most out of it, and the finale was one of the most boring games i ever saw
@Eric Jungmann Except Lewandowski, the 2020 Bayern team can't really touch the 2013 one which is easily one of the greatest teams ever. Prime Alaba, Neuer, Robben, Ribery, Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Boateng, Müller, Kroos and Mandzukic being at his peak as well. It's rare to witness such a team. 2020-2021 Bayern are excellent, but not even close.
@Eric Jungmann sorry but no
Fun fact: back in 2015 Bastian sued a Chinese toy company for making a Nazi SS soldier with his face on it
Omg thats so weird
Hahahahaha what the fuck xD
I mean you don’t want your face to be associated with the SS
Was in Tokyo a couple of years ago and saw this toy in a shop. Wanted to buy it for a bayern friend of mine, but it was way to expensive :)
He does have something on his face that says very distinctly: "I'm German!"
But associating real, let alone living, people's faces with SS is way, way, way out of order and I think he's right to sue them. I hope he won the lawsuit and had this shit stopped!
He's a perfect example of a maestro. If you follow him closely during his time when he played central midfield, you'd know that this guy wasn't exceptional as a playmaker, wasn't really the epitome of a box-to-box player, not exactly a pivot, but when the ball gets to his feet, he always gets to dictate the tempo of the play. If he felt the tempo was too fast, he'd slow it down easy. If on the other hand, he felt the play was too slow, he'd make direct passes to advance the ball. It's really hard to compile it in highlights, but you'd get it if you watch full matches.
This guy has been my favourite player ever since I started watching football. many people wouldn't have noticed it but he could always be seen controlling the game even without the ball.
He was my favorite as well. That’s actually why my profile picture is what it is. All my gamertags have always been cianni31 because of his Bayern number.
I'm no bayern fan by any means but basti is one of my all time favorites. He bossed the pitch in 2010 and he had one of the greatest performances I've ever seen in the 2014 WC final. Imperious in every aspect, the last of the Field Generals
Many people talk about Xavi , Iniesta, Pirlo... But Schweini was so an incredible player (my favorite midfielder) . Thx to have made a video on him !
Don't afaird from social kids the fact is he's the best ever actually
He was good, tactically supreme, good at all the basics. Perfect midfielder for a 2 man midfield, good temper as well.
It's simple everyone respects Schweinsteiger
He needs a straight 10/10 mentality. Just look at the final of the 2014 world cup - he dominated the midfield by sheer will while also having none other than Messi in his pocket all game long - to the point where Argentina got frustrated with him and started to foul him over and over - but he stayed on the pitch barely able to walk anymore and bleeding from his face... still being an absolute defensive monster in mid field.
Also if you look at the penalty shoot against Chelsea where he missed: He was the only player who had the balls to take that penalty - their manager later said in an interview that most other players who normally took penalties pulled back and said they didnt feel right and didnt want to shoot. He was the only one who had balls big enough to do it that evening.
I would be very interested in your video about Lahm :)
schweinsteiger was a unique footballer, a director and mental beast with elegant skills and a healthy ego full of humility. the great brain on the pitch, fantastic shooting technique and passing overview. he is one of the greats of the past 100 years. his crowning glory took place in 2014, in rio de janeiro.
You Totally Missed what hes Roll was in the world Cup Final against argentia! I Mean for real: Look what he has done in the extra time. Look at him how often he got fouled. Look at his cut over his eye. Look at him as he continously step out the Field and he still Wants To lead the Game. Look at him as he fouled messi in the Final! Look at him After the end Game Whistle! I Swear To god, Never Seen a Player With this leadering and step forwading as him! Schweinsteiger is one of the underrated Player ever! Sorry for my english, it is Not on his best Bit still Hope you Know what i mean! And yes: he totally destroyd portugese! One Point of That was because he hat he Good Connection To Oliver Kahn. This opens the can Against Portugal (dont Know of you Understand this German Phrase) 🙂
I am from Sweden but Schweinsteiger was the player that made me fall in love with football.
And I remember 2014 when they won I supported Germany and watched all the games that they played and I remember how hard work Schweinsteiger did!
FUßBALGOTT 😉
Very well written by you, everything is correct.
Thanks for the upload bro ! I really loved Schweinsteiger ❤️ you're videos are just the best regarding football at least for me ... May God bless you ! 🙏
Schweinsteiger was one of the few players who represent the pure Bayern Munich spirit: Brave, strong and wild
I always preciated him since he had perfect balance of offense and defense making him one of the best midfielders of his years, he is still underrated to this day.
top 3 best box to box players for the last 20 years imo
Correction: Of all time.
@@vaayman7770 Iniesta probably the best ever box to box
@@ryanvennegoor5823 well Iniesta was more of a attacking midfielder classic no. 10

This guy made me fall in love with my Bayern. This man is no less than Zidane and Scholes. He pocketed everyone's GOATS. Servus Basti. Mia San Mia
Scholes?
Are you serious?
this is why i hate german players, you got talentless players like muller, schweinsteiger and klose getting compared to the elites of football for being german
ballack/kroos/matthaus are the only germans that should be getting respect, schweinsteiger was nothing
@@Ballondorwinner
No country had better players than germany and no country had more different ballon d'or winners than germany.
You are delusional
@@Ballondorwinner talentless players? German players always whooped your arses all the time and you call them talentless? You should stop watching football, first. Check their historical significance in our club and Germany. Schweinsteger, Muller, Miroslav, Kroos, Ruminegge, Gerd, Matthaus, Beckenbauer, Neuer, Kahn, Sepp, Lahm, Ter Stegen, Klinsmann, Reus, Gundogan, Hummels, Boateng and this list can go on for ever. Germany has a rich history, kid. German players and their greatness don't need your or mine validation.
@@cmenomore8119 What happened with Scholes, brother?
Athletically gifted. Mechanical, yet yearned for goals and raising his nations flag against the greatest countries in world football. What I liked about German players, was fact that although not artistically acclaimed with the ball, they knew how to feed the net with no nonsense, fast paced aggressive play. They, as a nation have always featured in the top echelon of the beautiful game. Let’s not forget Brazil. They made the host nation regret they had made the final. Pure power and unrelenting a force to be reckoned with
You see there are many kind of players. The goal getters, the assisters, defensive walls, ball artists.
But what many people often fail to acknowledge in the world of football is the skill beyond the ball. They look at how many goals scored to determine someone's value.
Schweini had a skill which I found more impressive than just physical skill, this dude has uncontested skills on the mental level.
Argentina VS Germany will always be the shining example how a player has to behave.
Schweini fought like a warrior against a Argentina that were out for blood, remember that in the game, another German player was substituted early cause he got knocked the fuck out, then Basti took bad hits and he fought on cause he was the captain and knew what had to be done. He didn't cower or took the easy way out, he literally fought for every inch cause he had a team to lead.
That is a 10/10 leader and beyond the skills of Messi and Ronaldo, this is the kind of player I will remember of this generation.
I like ur vids but since u often focus on incredible finals performances I am missing his 2014 WC final performance!
One of my all time favorites growing up. Him and philipp lahm the back bone of Bayern Munich and Germany 🇩🇪
There was Effenberg & Mattaus in the 90's, Ballack in the 00's, but Bastian was German midfielder of the 10's
Great Video but you should have done more research. You should have Mentioned how Louis Van Gaal saw a gem in him and how he transformed him from a winger to a CDM/CM. Also, how he formed one of the greatest combination of midfielders we've ever seen alongside Javi Martinez in the treble season campaign and how important he was for Germany in the 2014 WC.
I literally watched all your Videos and I can say You the Best👊👊
Fussballgott as he read the game, lead it, directed the team and motivated them, best in 2014 WC final but also at Bayern or in 2010 WC etc. etc.. This guy is what you need in a team, a real team player, a leader, giving it all for it. And think about it: no tattoos, no funky car foottage, no scandals as soon as he really was an adult ;), some of the biggest coaches ever used him as their direct connection to the team - as their right hand such as Heynckes, van Gaal. Simply put: he is Fussballgott
Class video once again
Glad you enjoyed it
He's the first player I truly connected with and supported I always wanted to see him do well and the World Cup 2014 was the pinnacle of this, so blessed to have been able to see him play because time waits for no one.
Keep up the great work mate ✌
these videos are amazing
Hey mate, I know your videos are getting low viewership, but I just want to say I really enjoy them and your format is great really. I was watching channel "That Chapter" when he was getting like 20-50k views after a week, but once the TY algorithm picked his videos up, he gets 100k minimum after a day now. And your videos are really great for binge watching, so don't give up and hold on there little longer, you got on my radar really from YT algorithm, so I think something is up there!
I love your rankings too, they are close to be objective as it gets :)

New subscriber. Love these videos . Hopefully you do zidane soon!
Eventjough he was one of the faces of Bavaria Munich, he was one of my key idols as a Borussia Dortmund fan. He was a real fighter
I also hated him as a kid for how good he was! 🤣 but seriously, what a legend, thank you Bastin! 🖤
Inpersonaly have to speak up with my confusion on why you rank bastians mentality lower or as high as other Factors of him, while me as an german bayernfan see his personality and mentality Not only in brazil but through all his carrer as his defining ability and strengh and ist was one reason bayern and german national team was so succsessful with him
He was the name on my first jersey back in elementary school, and I love him as much as I did back then
Thanks for all the good childhood memories, Basti

This guy is a legend! I still can’t believe MAN U let him go.
i mean afterwards he even stated, it was an unbelivable mistake of him and he regrets
Thumbnail stitched him right up
im an german and bayern fan and i would say after the world cup final you have to give him like 10 or 9 for his mentality
he fighted so hard and kot knocked down so often
well if that was not a 10, then nobody in the history of football has earned 10.
nicely done ... even though I have to disagree on the mentality score. Definitely a 10. If it wasn't for Bastian, Germany would not have that last world cup. Pure will, pure dedication, pure passion ...
My love towards basti is unlimited
His performance in the 2014 final was out of this world. While Götze got all of the praise with his winning goal, it was Bastian Schweinsteiger who carried the whole team on his back.
I'm your biggest fan!
No! I am!
Can you make a video about Günter Netzer? One of the most underrated German players ever!
great player enjoyed watchin him
2008 was a true change of career.... When Ballack was not in the team in euros he played as no 8 .... He can control the game very well.... Sometimes i think Toni Kloos looked up at him and mold his game like Bastian but interms of pure power house midfilders they are very few, modric is one of them and Iniesta also Marchisio
I feel the same about R9. As kid i hated him for scoring against Germany in the final of 2002 (i am german). But as i grew up this hate turned into respect and then admiration. And Brazil was the worthy winner of the 2002 WC.
Giving him an 8 in mentality is a crime, everything else is pretty fair
The story with Bast and skiing: He was in a club with Felix Neureuther, later gold- and silvermedal winner at ski worldcups. In his autobiography they both tell, that Bast was better than Felix. So probably he whould have a career in skiing, also.
Schweinsteiger started his career as a Right Midfielder but Louis van Gaal thought he was better suited as a CDM and after a short time he was one of the best in the world at that position
For me the best complete midfielder I've seen
these videos are quality
Can you make a video how good was Matthias Sammer actually. One of the most underrated footballer

@@ogwu6732 i havent heard anyone say that ever. most people probs dont even know him
Plenty of people know him
@@ogwu6732 I never heard that. When they talk about the best german footballer nobody talk about him
I hope he will get an icon in a future FIFA, his stats would be very nice
I think I would have rated a little different, taking away points of his offensive side, but what always stood out to me was his physique/body contact superiority (being able to properly tackle people out of his way, without fouling) and his mindset, as he never dropped down just for show, but instead kept playing even when he was clearly hurt.
Still waiting for you to do Zidane! 10/10 flair, 10/10 playmaking, 10/10 icon factor, 10/10 trophy cabinet... He'll break your ranking system!
Overhyped
Mario Gomez got me into the game. Schewini made me fall in love with the game.
This guy is one of very important player in Germany squad in 2000s and one of the my favourite player mildifield ever player from European football game today ERA salute to him I being consists and always bring A performance and impact on the pitch ❤❤🏆🏆👏👏😍😍❤❤✊✊
For a long time I didn`t think he had it. As a VfB Stuttgart Fan i didn`t like most of Bayerns players and for a long time he was not sharp enough, not dialed in enough for me. But man, did that WC 2014 prove me wrong!
Nowadays? I wish we had players like him again. In my eyes he was not quite Beckenbauer-level, but he is one level below with the likes of Mathäus, Sammer, Völler and honestly a lot of other great players we had over all the decades. And over the years I really came to like him, not only as a great soccer player, but also as a human being.
saw him live in chicago.......you can see the quality in him awesome player
A legend, Basti is always underrated. Won all, played and gave his heart, blood for his team.

I loved him so much!
A great professional
He is a symbol here in germany. Bleeding for the title
Could u make a video on berbatov he was such a genius on the ball
The German National team has not been the same since he retired. He was the more than the captain, he was the leader and the heart of that team.
Legend we will never forget u ❣️
I think the most impressive thing was his perfomance in the world cup final 2014 still playing while bleeding in the face and having to get that fixed multiple times
I truly admire him. Both as a player and as a person. His winning mentality was made of iron, and he proved it in the WC final, being omnipresent and running 16 km. 16 km for f**s sake! He and Kahn are my all-time favorite players.
Imagine after 15-20 year's later........there will be video's about

Lowkey in Fifa when i was managing with Manchester United i traded him and another player for Ronaldo from Real Madrid 😊 it worked too.
I think He deserves a 10/10 at mentality. Remember the World cup 2014
he was overlooked just like a lot of bayern and germany players
Has a Portuguese i confirm the intro is on point 😂😂😂😅
Can you do one about that czech guy that was former international topscorer (forgot his name)
7/10 for defence? He was a lightning rod. Absorbed all the danger for Germany and Bayern sitting infront of the back line.
Nothing but 9/10
the only thing i gotta disagree with is the mentality, has to be 10/10 he was a born leader and was maybe the main reason for the 2014 WC win, he held the team together with Lahm and his performance in tzhe final is up there with the greats
His long passes are a thing of beauty
