I have the 2014 SENTRA SR, white but no touchscreen, other than that it's the exact same car as this. I have put 127,000 miles on it as of today. I have not had CVT issues, but i get the fluid changed every 60k miles (i've always changed all fluids and done all recommended maintenance on all my cars. had a 89 acur legend go 250k miles, 95 toyota t100 go 260k miles). Anyone who is planing on buying this car must be aware that you should not push the CVT until it is at operating temperature. That means slow accelation when after a cold start. I notice if i push it right away, the CVT will feel like its pulsating when i hit 70+ mph. If i wait until the temp gauge is halfway before pushing it then theres no issue and i pass up people on the freeway with no issue. it has a smooth bouncy ride and gets great gas mileage, i get 31.5 combined city/hw, but i do only pump 91octane at costco. When i park the car i first put it in neutral then engage the parking break before puting in park, this will help your CVT last longer. The best thing i like about this car is that the trunk is huge, I can haul all my crap back there and still get 28-29mpgs. seats are comfy and it looks great in white
The new exterior design is great! It could be the most attractive car in its class now. I love the metallic blue paint. Not the most powerful engine, and the interior is surprisingly bland, but I could live with it...
Having just test-driven this car I can even revise my comments about the engine and interior-not bad at all! The 1.8 did not feel "underpowered" as I expected. Actually I thought it accelerated with surprising speed from a dead stop-a great car for city driving!
This thing has so much rear legroom. Take a look at 1:22. Those front seats are all the way back I guarantee it. We have a Sentra and I've looked before.
who cares if it has a cvt honestly I could care less if it has a damn cvt. i've driven cars with cvts and there's not a damn thing wrong with them. they get better gas mileage and provide smooth linear acceleration. Traditional automatics are always jerking the car around and they take years to downshift. CVTs are nice and smooth. Of course both transmissions have their downfalls but I don't see why people practically shit their pants in rage when they hear the word CVT. it's not that big a deal.
I get what you're saying, but the one in my '15, started giving us problems at 12,xxx miles. We got it brand new, the dealership can't "replicate" the problem... It stopped doing it once they reflashed the ecu - apparently the car thought we were hitting the brakes. That was the reason the issues would come up (their words) We have 62,084 miles on it now, and has only given us problems maybe twice since that. This cvt sucks unfortunately....
I like where Nissan is heading with this vehicle. It is a grand improvement over the last gen Sentra. The external styling actually looks nice for a change, and from what I saw at the Detroit auto show, the interior has been upgraded. For the money, I think it is a pretty decent vehicle.
The speedometer going to 160 mph has to be one of the funniest things ever in a car's interior. Looks like the same one as in the Altima, where it's also a joke (even with the V6).
It's a shame people are hating on it cause it has a more ''luxurious'' look to it than sporty. Not everyone in this class wants a sporty car. Personally, I love the mini-Altima look over a smiling Mazda or ''plasticky'' looking Civic. I'd be willing to give a CVT engine a try. The engine seems to only scream under harder acceleration, but so does my dad's V8 truck.
Nice looking car, but the motor sounds like it is going to blow up the entire time he is driving. I like that switch from Econo mode to Sport mode. If I had it - it would stay in the Sport Mode all the time.
I own a 2016 Sentra SV with the same powertrain (well, updated CVT). This engine is completely underpowered in most circumstances, but it's smooth and mostly quiet.
@@lowercentenary I now have a Chevy Malibu. Also a commuter. It’s much faster than this Sentra and it’s still considered slow. The Sentra is dangerously underpowered.
Its a CVT, this transmission has no gears but uses a continuous belt to transfer the power. Very fuel efficient (Infinite gear ratios) and quite fast (no powerloss during gear changes)
Your expectations for a fuel efficient car is out of the question. It gets best mpg in its class vs refinement throughout the car.CVT has an infinite amount of gear ratio so the car knows which gear to be in when accelerating vs automatic 5 or 6 speeds which shift in gears to which is not appropriate for the speed you're going thus lacks mpg.It gets maximum torque at 3600 RPM, you shouldn't hear an drone noise if you're driving the car the way you're supposed to be,not race down the freeway -___-
I think the general consensus now is that Honda makes the best CVT with the Accord, followed by Nissan products. The Honda one seems to have preprogrammed shift points, but I'm getting used to the sound of CVTs in general
Awe it has a sport mode, how cute. Seriously thou those blips and beeps would make me won't to beat a baby deer with a brick and i happen to like baby deers so i blame Nissan for that if it should happen. I have 2003 Sentra Spec V, never had a problem with the car, all i do is change the oil and it runs forever. I've had it for 11 years now with 164, 000 miles on it. Shame this car does not have a manual. They need to bring back the Spec V or make that Nismo concept available to the public.
Bob Keilitz I was about to ask the same question. It sounds like some sort of alert whenever he floors it like the car is telling him he's pushing it too hard.
I just built the base S on Nissan's site. The S is the only one available with a 6-speed. Easy build. Nissan offers mud flaps, floor mats and fog lights and that's about it for the S. They really want us to drive the CVT. No thanks.
man why does it sound like the transmission is Slipping whenever he accelarates in this car? I don't like the way this vehicle sounds when he gets on it. it's kind of an awkward sound.
Looks better than the last gen Sentras (B16), but they need a SE-R model badly to compete with the likes of the civic si, dodge dart srt 4, the turbo focus & ect.
CVT still sucks balls. I'm sure the engineers can design and build an efficient 6,7 or 8 speed auto that's smooth shifting. Installing a CVT is just their way of indirectly admitting that they didn't try hard enough. That's the only thing that prevented me from getting a 2010 Maxima, if it had a proper 6 speed auto then great but the CVT kills the performance.
All the time it took to release a new model, and this is what it looks like. A reliable appliance, but horribly dull. Guess it's not aimed at me. Miss my '93 SE-R, the last good of the good Sentras.
Nope you don't need a good set of headphones like mentioned in the description because the sound of the engine with that CVT is annoying! (I own a used 2013 Sentra S with 6-speed manual :P)
I hate those CVT trans. they suck! Sounds like it's slipping. I drove the Altima SE with this trans and had to use the preset ratio manual shift because I couldn't stand this racket!
I'm not interested in the inspiration of the design. But in my opinion, it resembles the corolla s. But that's just my opinion. And I'm 31 years old. Far from a kid.
WOW, Its a nice car from the outside, Looks like a high end Lexus or similar, But whats up with the high revs and the car aint going nowhere, Interior seems to be lacking features like theres a lot of useless space that they could of done better with.
WHERE IS THE SER SPEC V 2016,god damnit the new version of the civic will be turbo, there is a new focus RS on the road. WAKE UP !!!!! i got a sentra ser spec v 2011 and aesthetically it almost the same car .

I love this type of review. No talking and opinions, just showing the features. And I like the driving from your point of view as well.
Bought this car today as my first ever car. I’ll come back in many years hopefully, let’s see how long it’ll last.

Saw one of these on the road yesterday for the first time and was beyond impressed. The interior leaves something to be desired, though

How about an updated video featuring the 2017 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo? There was a major refresh in 2016.
The previous car only had 140hp actually. They dropped the power for efficiency purposes, it doesn't loose much in the way of acceleration
