Huh? The receiver did nothing wrong at all...caught the ball cleanly with NO fair catch signal given, and took a chance to just stand and see what the reaction would be. It's on the defense to pay attention. You might as well say a fake pass, punt/kick, or fake handoff is illegal by your logic.
@@samsignorelli What he did was legal but at the same time it's a little unfair given the pressure defensive players are under in today's football to avoid penalties and getting thrown out of a game. Now what happens when a defensive players assumes that there was no definitive fair catch signal made and he blasts a receiver? One of the most dangerous plays has always been recieving a punt because the player is typically standing still and looking up so it's better to not make the situation even more dangerous by pulling a stunt like this because now defensive players are going to see this and instead of pulling up off the gas they will keep their foot on it. Trick plays like this are great for highlight reels but they can eventually result in someone getting seriously injured. Colorado State is part of the Mountain west conference, that conference alone can pull off upsets left and Right. And Boise State obviously isn't gonna be the team to be the first non power 5 team in the playoffs. Rn it's looking like UCF but they had one of their games cancelled due to obvious reasons. God knows that the Sun Belts only chance is Troy, but since they have one loss already it's highly doubtful. Rn the only two teams that have my votes are North Texas and UCF
@@fabiantaveras8458 "No where schools" produced some of the biggest NFL stars *Cough* Mean Joe Greene *Cough* , Appalachian state blew out Michigan when Michigan was good. And you're ignoring the fact that they're a D1 FBS team for a reason whether it be football, basketball, baseball, etc.

If you listen very closely you hear a faint whistle in the background like somebody in the stands did it or someone on the sidelines. It was just loud enough to wear if you were on the field it could trick you. Especially with the way he caught the ball. Definitely planned and definitely sneaky. Good more than that it's definitely entertaining.
Great idea! If they had paid attention and tackled him he would have been no worse off than with a fair catch. Brilliant! No downside.
Except the major injury he would have likely sustained by getting hit by someone weighing 235 running a 4.5 40 hitting him full speed in the ribs while he was looking up…. You know, the very reason the fair catch was implemented
0:23 perfect lob to the ref too lol this guy does it all
Ivan Pavlov the famous Russian physiologist called this 'conditioned response' Ball is punted ,receiving player takes perfect fair catch form after catching the ball and is intent on using deception and all the other Arkansas players (The Pavlov Dogs) took the bait.. The irony is this only works when surrounded by many of the opposing players.People are follower and rarely independent thinkers ..One fell for it and so did the other 4 or 5
31 was like something not rite here lol like wtf ok then
Nah, it's not "conditioned response." It's inattention to detail.
Nope,it's mathematically impossible for 11 people to all be inattentive at the same time. When you take into account the 11 other players on the opposing side have all been playing the same sport since they were age 7 or 8 years old the odds of them all being inattentive are astronomical. But what all the highlight and football shows fail to stress is the North Texas player did this to perfection.I mean this guy had it down pat,he should be nominated for an academy award. The people focus on how incompetent the Arkansas players were but the Texas player had everyone fooled. It was *Brilliant*
yer right,or everyone all looks down at the floor or if person (A) starts talking about the creepy elevator music playing in the back ground almost everyone will join in on the conversation. When i was a kid a friend and myself used to ride on top of the elevators (long before Bruce Willis) did it in Die Hard. I lived for years in a 17 story apt block. We could see the person below through a roof vent and you would be amazed when it's only one person in the elevator .. (i would say 7/10 times they pick their nose) and that's one study they don't teach you at any College
@@AlwaysHalloween000 read the SB nation story on how they practiced this until perfection. They had to wait until a certain lazy blocking scheme was in place. Players didn't let gunners down field. Very intricate play executed perfectly.
What helps make this play work is the crack down on being over aggressive everybody scared to get personal fouls
Number 31 almost stopped this but NOOOO. YOU JUST *HAD* TO LET HIM GO, DIDN'T YA?
Be Feerless he was the only one sensing something amiss.
Knowing the sport is just as important as playing the sport
lol he did the hop to catch to make it seem like a fair catch
The hop sold it man
You have to tell the refs before the game that you are going to run that play. Nice!

He made it look like a practice kick they all see every day and he took advantage of that.
Wow Arkansas done
Y’all are crazy. He nodded to them like “Good Stuff😅”
Smart but dangerous play
You can do anything as long as you do it with soooo much confidence that everyone else around you believes it too.

No, he just really had to go pee pee.
No, he was just running away from his teammates.

John Brattan it’s hard to keep talking as an announcer, so sometimes they say dumb shit
Which is why it amazes me that the fair catch was called in the Iowa Minnesota game
Great job by the refs for not just going thru the motions and paying attention.
Terrible job actually. Should have blown the play dead and flagged the returning team for a penalty. The fair catch rule isn’t one to maintain fairness and competitiveness, it’s for players safety. By mimicking a fair catch signal but “not exactly right” he abused a rule meant to keep him safe. If the defense saw through the rouse then he woulda have been virtually cut in half. Respect for the rule and players safety is what made the defense stop. It’s complete clown shit
@@jordanharrison8769he never mimicked the signal tho? All he did was catch the ball and stand there. He didn’t exploit any rule all he did was exploit the lack of attention from the other team

No it’s definitely a dirty bush league bull shit play.
Love it when smaller teams dominate big teams.
Yeah that year doesn’t really count. Arkansas had just hired THE WORST COACH IN THE HISTORY of the program and probably the NCAA. No one has done less with more than Chad Morris.
One of the best plays I've ever seen , cool!!!
with the targeting rules in place ..if one player from Arkansas realized the trick play and drilled the dude he'd be disqualified for targeting...as embarrassing as it was for Arkansas it was a cheap play for a touchdown that shouldn't be allowed because of targeting rules
Wahhhhhh!
And targeting is a call that involves leading with the top of the helmet, not drilling a guy running with the football.
That boy a genius... dangerous
If players were not afraid to hit because of fine, suspensions, etc he may have got his bell rung
That's not why they didn't hit him

Right around 00.13 or 00.14, is that a block in the back?
It doesn't even qualify as a trick play. It requires as Arkansas is just that lost in the world. They haven't gotten into SEC play. The is a 1 to 2 win team.
L Crane yes it does lmfao
L Crane Arkansas last hope is Tulsa, but if you lose 44-17 to _North Texas_ then u probably gonna lose to Tulsa
This one never gets old...
Brewer oughta thank God every day that Arkansas was sleeping on the job. Otherwise, he would've been in a world of hurt.
He moved his arm and gave a fake fair catch signal which is illegal. He does it slightly, but that’s enough to make the defense not go after him.
Wonder if the returner gave the ref a heads up before the play. If so, this is even more brilliant.
We should kick them out of the SEC for that.
Lol!
They really have no business being in the SEC. They don't bring anything to the conference
I agree, both Arkansas and Florida should be kicked out of the SEC.

What's funny is this; while we all have the right to our opinions, and the freedom to express them, it doesn't automatically mean those opinions are valued or considered. Most cases our opinions are simply overlooked. That's what has happened here...none of your opinions matter to anyone who has more important things to do than to insult college kids. Neither does mine for that matter, though I'm not the one being a dick behind a keyboard... WPS GO HOGS
What a WINNER! Genius.
I love it but it should be illegal because let's be real these punt returners want to be protected from being blasted but if they are going to do stuff like this then they're fair game. If one of Arkansas's players realized it was not a fair catch and blasted this guy at full speed I can guarantee you they would have considered throwing the guy out of the game.
We are talking about a play that they are considering doing away with all together because of how dangerous it is.

Funny thing about this play: one of the Hogs players (#31?) looked at the NT punt returner and said “why didn’t they blow the whistle?” ....then dude just took off
That is unsportsmanlike. In this day in age where referees throw flags for big hits on "defenseless" players, this should have been called back and North Texas flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.
