Thank you for helping us understand more about how ADHD affects our society . It’s hard enough going thru these years - but harder still when a teenager is labelled as a troublemaker , etc, when really all they need is the right kind of support with and by the medical system/ resources and community . ❤
I'm a teenager who has never spoken to a psychiatrist once in my entire life and I've only seen a therapist three times (she spent the entirety of our sessions talking about herself, though). My parents don't want to take me to get psychiatric help because I was always the "smart and gifted" child, so I couldn't possibly have a neurological disorder. Recently, my grades have started to drop, and I don't know why, school just feels impossible now. I recently learned that my dad was diagnosed with ADHD, and I might have it to. But, when I tried to bring it up to my mom, she said it's not affecting my life, so I don't need help. None of the things listed in the video apply to me, but I'm afraid that some of them will in the future. How do I get my parents who buy into the stigma around mental health and disorders to get me the help I need?
Interesting.. I had most of these as a teenager including self harm and skipping school though I never got in trouble I was too scared I would upset my mum but I did get in trouble for talking too much lol
ueah I was diagnosed at 20 with primarily inattentive ADHD...it was my anxiety that kept me functioning during highschool and then when I got help for that my ADHD suddenly got worse and a serious problem
Hmm. Strange. My son never crashed or dropped out of school& of course I never took him to physc. He's a man now& I give myself credit for simply being there for him
I was diagnosed at 34.. a lot of people esp women get misdiagnosed as no one wants to diagnose adhd anymore let alone women with it so if you go misdiagnosed you would still get your license and no one would know. However I have never been in an accident yet but I got my license at 22 but 62 percent is very high my husband also has adhd and has never been in an accident he was diagnosed at 27 and got his license at 25 it's a gamble..

I was all of these, but 1. I am 27. I started therapy 3 months ago. And it’s looking like I do have ADHD. Which explains a lot.
Oh wow when 4/5 is accurate thinking back to my teenhood..... I'm still on antidepressants too.

That awkward moment when you've never been diagnosed with anything remotely ADHD, and yet all the signs line up...that it's ADHD 😬
Female, diagnosed at age 43. Combined type.
Feel free to reach out if you’d like to know more. Each stat you gave was a no. 😊

Should ADHD teens be even granted a drivers license? 62% higher!!!! That is endangering all the other innocent people driving on the same roads!!!!
