She then moved in the violence in a home she wasn’t paying for to get away from him. Who leaves their children alone with a violent monster- this woman! THIS! When I saw the news report about the level of DV he had been charged with and accused of it was sickening. He even had told her he would kill her and the kids before and threatened to burn the house down. That is all her testimony! And people are gonna say I'm victim blaming, but the only victims I care about are those kids. He was a clearly dangerous man , she had already divorced him. If he had to see those kids, it should have been supervised visitation.....🤬 that guy!

In their investigation, they need to find out what police 👮♀️ calls every police was on in the district to make sure none was really available! Ain’t nothing going on in the east like that where all police were engaged in a police call I’m sure!! If an officer was on a low level call, they should have left that scene to go to the most needed call, and that’s those children. I’ve seen police leave a traffic stop to take another more important dispatch call.
True. I remember when I was in New Orleans in 2004 I seen a New Orleans police come into a building on Bourbon street and go to sleep in a chair. I seen New Orleans police drinking while in uniform. So this unprofessional behavior been going on for a long time.

The hardest part to see with domestic violence is that the majority of the time, it is an innocent child or children that get hurt. That father should have never been back in that house to watch those children, considering that he and the mother had domestic violence issues. We have to learn how not to take the first date so serious. We all have to grow from this mishaps. Our families should be involved because most of the abusers don't like the family members involved.

As the mom said the first sentence police should’ve been dispatch. Continue with the rest of the mom story and dispatch police again. It need to be better training

At first it was just a domestic disturbance, that’s why Fire and EMS weren’t sent at first. There was no confirmed fire or injury when the call from the mom came in. The fire department arrived in less than 5 minutes of the fire call.

The mother asked him to come and watch the children while she was at work. A form of Stockholm Syndrome at play when it comes to the mother because she was constantly taking him back according to neighbors and police reports of domestic violence!!

I feel terrible for the family but I’m not surprised that no officers were available. Would any of you sign up for NOPD? The job is ridiculously dangerous, underpaid, and under-appreciated. Until the community shows more support to law enforcement, they will continue having hundreds of vacant positions.

Considering hurricane Katrina's ridiculous response time (city/locally, state and government wise)... Im truly not surprised of their response time when it comes to imminent danger. Im scratching my head on this one.
What in the video is making you scratch your head? They didn't have available units at the time. When you want to defund a department, either partially or wholly, the cuts will affect the number of available people, and if units were on other 911 calls and there wasn't an available one at that moment, they couldn't immediately respond. Please keep the subliminal "mesage" out of this. It was NOT a matter of race or "marginalized" people and again, if you were on the "defund the police" bandwagon a few years ago, or even if you weren't, you can certainly understand simple economics, right? Less cops - for whatever reason that is - and there is a nationwide shortage of cops in this country now for obvious reasons, = longer response times. Not a head scratcher and it shouldn't be too hard to understand.
It dies not account for the delay in end and fire department. They responded 15-25 minutes after the initial call.

Accountability must be given as the CITY to compensate this mother for negligence of the abuse and the deletion of her children. There was a HISTORY of the violence her family suffered from and NOBODY helped the mom & her kids. I hope that this case reminds the city of how important saving victims of domestic violence abuse is vital. These kids shouldn’t of passed away period.

Let me tell you what I know. I was a 911 dispatcher in a neighboring parish to Orleans. When we received calls from that area to be transferred to their call system, it would be hours before assistance, if at all, showed up on the scene. I remember a car accident call received at the start of my shift. Right before my shift ended the caller said no one arrived yet to the scene. Poorly managed man-power scheduling.
This is sad. Yes he is completely wrong. The response time is horrible. To know those children suffered that long is sick.

I think the dispatch protocol should be changed. Dispatcher's shouldn't have to ask so many questions, and police should be dispatched immediately especially when kids are involved.
They have to ask for multiple reasons, one being officer safety. But, I agree that the police should have been dispatched immediately. I'm sure there was a police unit they could have cleared up to send over there

Why was he in her house with them while she was at work? Did he break in? If so, why were they home alone? If not, why is a man who beat and chokes her in her house with her kids while she's not there? I do not understand this situation and why someone could not have intervened in this woman's life to protect her sooner.
