That's cool. It's not just replacing the tile sets in memory, it actually appears to be adding animation frames and background layers. I'm pretty sure the OG Samus running animation was only 2 frames.
@kryptin420 Exactly what I was wondering; I never saw this secret on the original nes metroid; also when he gets kills himself at the bottom of the pit as a shortcut, he gets back with full energy tanks, and i never saw cumulative weapons (eg. ice wavy beam). The Kraid, Ridley and Mother Brain battles seems too easy too. Other than that, the animation is superb, and the music is quite fun to listen to.
@@claudehebert3131 They where that simple in the original too. We just remember it differently from when we where young. I saw a speed run the other day of the original and they got trashed super fast there too.

Very amazing! From someone who's played this original treasure when it 1st came out, I'm completely blown away by this. Good job. Very wonderful job. Thank you!
While I appreciate the run animation also, I kinda prefer the original “choppy” look. It makes you feel like you’re running fast while this makes samus appear sluggish. That’s not to hate on this in any way, it’s just a different take on something familiar
Looks quite nice! I saw some items and rooms were added as well, which is quite interesting... on one hand, it's a nice way for anyone to skip needing to get the beams in Norfair, and get going at full power from the start. On the other hand, I never liked how there are two ice beams in the game. It makes the already messy progression of this game feel even more dated. Like the keys you can buy at stores in the original Legend of Zelda. It just makes it feel less tightly designed. I think one cool thing to do with that area would be making it a "New Game+ Only" area, or a challenge area where you can only unlock that area if you get there in 10 minutes, or specific to a challenge mode (maybe a Justin Bailey inspired mode with extra challenge), something like that. It allows for the bonus items to be there for returning players that want to dash through the thing more quickly, in a way that doesn't mess with the game's integral structure, at least on a first run. I have to agree with theredknight on one thing tho: the HUD is way too big. Too intrusive and in the way, and it's definitely due to the box. If it was just the numbers, or at least moved a bit upwards, it would probably be a bit better.
This is a nice perfect blend of classic, super & Zero mission (plus some original stuff) that really does make this feel like a remake if you didn't want all the extras Zero has.
Nice gameplay. Played the original Metroid back in the 80s and never spend more than an hour at a time and never passed it. Picked it back up in the 2000s and passed it before playing Super Metroid. The HD version looks nice and will give it a shot.

Great to hear from you! They said yes. As I was moving everything over, I found out even more recently the ultimate tracks were from you. As a result, you are in the credits! (Hope that's ok) The pack actually includes a folder for the alternate orchestrated music. Awesome work on your channel! All that's needed is a simple file swap.
This is so faithful to the OG graphics and sound. Nintendo is leaving a lot of money on the table by not releasing remasters like this themselves. The Legend of Zelda also would be awesome done like this.

Having a separate .ips file is under consideration with respect to the additional room in Brinstar. For anyone not wanting the room there, all that will probably be needed is a simple file swap. @@NESGameFan cool, hopefully it is added in the future. The original isn't the best either, tbh almost every screw attack sound is pretty annoying. Zero mission isn't terrible, and as long as it stops when Samus isn't spinning its not so bad.

If the default music isn't to your liking, customization is relatively easy with the pack. There's a separate video on it. Mostly just a simple .ogg file swap. 8 bit and 16 bit variants are among the options included in the pack.
@@NESGameFan oh I love the original 8-bit score. Especially more how they re: orchestrated remixes for later games. Sorry I wasn't trying to be mean, but that remix changes the dynamic. It is actually possible. The pack comes bundled with optional sound in the form of .ogg files located in an alternate music folder. All that's needed is a simple file swap with the .ogg files.
Could be. Mesen is a fairly demanding emulator compared to other NES emulators and this enhancement pack is one of the most demanding packs as well. How old is your i5? For reference, an i7 7700HQ gets close to dipping below 60 FPS at a couple of parts.
Might consider looking into that. I do know some folks are trying to find ways to get the pack on a CRT, though (which are more prone to cutting off things near edges). As a result, if we found a way to hack the ROM to move the HUD closer to the edges, it could cause other problems... maybe...
Is it possible to graphically offset it higher by adding empty transparency pixels to the bottom and setting the origin spot for the swap higher? Just guessing.@@NESGameFan
@spires655 There's not much wiggle room in the native 8x8 squares. The ideal option would probably be hacking the ROM to move the HUD up. With that said, it is possible to move the entire HUD up with just Mesen commands. However, that would probably be a lot of work. This is partly due to the fact that the HUD is constantly changing and shares sprites with other areas if the game. If it was a static HUD and if there were no shared sprites it wouldn't be so bad. Also, because of the fact a lot of coding would be required to pull it off, it could also negatively affect performance and the pack might run a bit slower.
@HeroC14 Sorry, no password. One downside of trading the password system for a save system... Although, people could always trade save files and save states.
FINALLY, the update I wanted Nintendo to make for the Super NES back in the '90s! I'll have to download it at some point! But you should have edited the video to eliminate the areas where you were stuck for a couple minutes, it makes you look like a weak player! 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂

Thanks for the info and thoughtful response! @@NESGameFan
Pretty move and good graphics ❤ deserve a scenarios more differents.
Incrível demais os estúdio não faz vem um fã e faz mil vezes melhor
are the glitches still possible? such as jumping after standing from morph ball mid air
Yes, morph ball glitch and pretty much all others should be intact. In fact, check out 23:40.
Looks like Super Metroid
Looks great, but Eesh that animation speed for samus. its like running in molasas. if it could be sped up I'd say it would be perfect.
You may be happy to know a new version 2.1 is now available and features a faster running animation: ua-cam.com/video/eX63601bTV0/v-deo.html
The score is crucial
It just feel wrong to include a map in original metroid
Was that path from early ice to wave always there?
It's new - with that said, adding an option for users to disable the new area is under consideration for a future rev level.
How and where can i play it ? I get lost reading the description
An installation video is available here: ua-cam.com/video/IPz62W69eGU/v-deo.html
In the original game is the wave beam room like that with the ice beam is ??
Nope. Wave is found in Norfair (after getting Screw Attack).
Did they replace the Justin Bailey Sprite?
Yes- you can take a look by fast forwarding to the end of the video past credits.
@@NESGameFanNice, there's no option to enter a password though like the NA version?
@HeroC14 Sorry, no password. One downside of trading the password system for a save system... Although, people could always trade save files and save states.
Looks awesome. But needs a map in game.
This just looks like a Metroid remake done in Java.
37:00 I don't remember THAT boss being so easy, either.
Hi! And how to launch it using Retrobat? Where and what to throw?
Sorry, I'm not a Retrobat user. As a result, I'm not familiar with any setup steps for that program.
FINALLY, the update I wanted Nintendo to make for the Super NES back in the '90s! I'll have to download it at some point!
But you should have edited the video to eliminate the areas where you were stuck for a couple minutes, it makes you look like a weak player! 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
