Keep in mind that even with the Lariat version, that this is geared towards a lower cost truck, so some of the extras you're complaining about are likely not included for price reasons. If you want those extras, spend the extra thousands for a Santa Cruz that has less truck functionality than the Maverick. If a damped tailgate is a such a big deal for you, get an after-market tailgate damper and spend the 30 minutes installing it yourself.
I have the cactus grey one, and not sure what you mean by “no performance machine” part as I pick my spot to accelerate onto the freeway and I’m there! I don’t know what else you need! It’s been great with he month I’ve had it! I traded in my 2018 2.0 Ltr Fusion Hybrid and this is as smooth 2024 and this is like an advanced version in a truck! Gonna enjoy this as it’s also a launch bed (with the bed cover) for my drone business! Works great! Thanks for the post!🇺🇸
Hey, just remembered, what the heck if that ‘credit card’ slot on the center console below the traction controls? I have one and am planning to go back to the dealer to ask them. Can’t find it in the manual. Thanks
Buffalo NY here. Got my 2023 xlt hybrid past August. No issue with no rear defog. The rear hatch 30 bucks I used extra ford points to buy from ford damper shock. . The rotary snifter automatically goes into park when you shut it off. I have Key so I guess same on push button one? The push button one does look kinda far away. I prefer key No key fob sending off signal to catch and make there own new fob for thief. . Door handle I never even gave it a thought and have zero issue.
Love ❤️ my 2024 xlt hybrid, the 47 mpg is out of this world. Handles excellent, good power for a 4 ba nger. This the new Ford Mustang of the century. So much bang for the buck, heated seats and steering wheel .
I have yet to purchase a Ford Maverick, but I have been looking at them.I'm still undecided as to if I want a hybrid or awd.Too bad that they don't make a hybrid awd. I think that the sweet spot is the XLT.It's been Ford's most popular package, going back quite a few years, for good reason. Hopefully, whatever Maverick I buy will give me good service, and I'll be happy with my decision.
I've been watching a lot of reviews/opinions on the maverick out here on youtube as it's a vehicle I'm interested in. Overall, I like it and was appreciative of your 'likes'. You dislikes seem fairly trivial to me w/ the exception of the laggy infotainment system. I always have a bigger water bottle so that seems like a pro to me. I also have zero cares about wireless vs wired android auto or carplay. I don't see the big deal. I currently have a car that I have to plug in my phone and it works perfectly. If I want to listen to an audiobook on an app that doesn't want to pay Apple or Google a fee, I can just do the bluetooth connect and not plug in the cable. It works fine. As far as the tailgate, I feel like a pickup should be more rugged and I like that it doesn't have a damper. too many vehicles want to have a power everything and that just makes it more expensive to fix when it fails. Anyway, that's my two pennies worth but liked listening to your opinion on it.
I don't mind the open door handle on my Maverick. I have never missed it when closing the door. The Maverick automatically goes into to park when you shut the engine off with the push button so no need to rotate the shifter to park unless you intend to leave the motor running. I thought I would miss the rear defrost but after a full winter in Canada I have never need it. Odd.
Most of your dislikes are fixed with inexpensive after market parts, Tailgate damper, wireless Carplay/Andriod Auto, Kia larger rearview mirror swap with auto dimming and homelink. Have not needed a rear windows defroster after over a year of ownership. You get used to the grab handles pretty quickly.
If you just turn the car off without shifting to Park, it will automatically set it to park for you. I like that it doesn't have a traditional looking shifter to take up space.
From personal experience, I can point out one drawback to the opening rear window in any pickup truck. Since those windows are, essentially, a retrofit (I know, they come from the manufacturer, but the manufacturer designs the vehicle with a fixed window and adds the sliding window as an option.) As a retrofit, the manufacturers fail to include that window in the central locking or security system. The result? That rear window can easily be jimmied open, leaving the interior of your truck accessible to thieves. I experienced that with my 2001 Ford F-150 SuperCrew which came with the sliding rear window. Someone popped the rear window open and reached in and took a very expensive custom guitar in it's case from the footwell of the back seat. Had they done anything to the doors, the alarm system would have reacted; but that rear window is a blindspot in the vehicle security. That blindspot is present in the Maverick over 20 years later because I tested it at a dealership when looking at the Maverick.
tbf thats your f150 rear window which is massive. In my experience most full size trucks done come with rear windows, that little window on the mav wont fit nothing but an arm and it doesn't look easily shimmed. Thats how it is for mid size trucks with rear windows too, they tend to be too small for much to fit through which is probably why they typically come with them
My take away from this in depth review is that the Maverick is a very over priced vehicle. So why is it that we the people keep patronizing the car manufacturers and dealerships ? The prices will come down when we the people stop paying high prices for new vehicles
Agreed. Any "market adjustment" addition to sticker price is a joke, an insult, and a rip off. Dealers in my area even put this on their website with these vehicles. Never pay over MSRP! It's a guaranteed way to have negative equity when it's time to sell or trade. I hope everyone who buys crosses off any "market adjustment" during negotiations or walks out if the dealers won't budge. Better yet, just order directly from the factory!
Complaining about no “damped tailgate” screams “I ain’t got a pair.” You should have mentioned that much earlier in the video instead of going in 15 minutes. Hopefully you didn’t put your back out.

Tailgate is not a deal breaker but cooling seats is. The cloth are hot in tbe summer
I added a tailgate damper from Amazon for $20, yeah, that could have been added! Also got the bed liner accessory to go along with it!

I JUST wish it could get the 4000 lb tow package. Would make for a truly incredible do-it-all vehicle.
the 2025 gets that and awd... ya, I've been looking at these. lol

I love turn knob shifter

Yes, I demo what I call the hockey puck on my videos. Saves space and you will never leave the Mav in neutral by accident.
A buddy has a Maverick. Quiet, solid ride. It’s his commuter vehicle. 100 miles a day….about 41 mpg. The bed is small, but handy.

it's too bad the engine itself isn't a diesel. that would seriously increase the mpg and torque.
