I was just at York BMW last week and I looked at this car you just tested. I currently own a 2020 X5 40I Xline version. I love the M-sport option and thinking about getting the M50i which is the V8 performance model of this vehicle. Overall, I love the X5...impressive power with the inline twin-turbo six. @@mattX5 BMW uses fancy marketing by calling it a "twin power turbo" which is like you said a single twin-scroll turbo. It still fast and I'm sure has more HP then what's advertized. This is how BMW explains it...."BMW TwinPower Turbo systems offer similar power to a twin turbo system with more efficient power delivery, less weight and in a smaller package".
I think the X5 xDrive45e is superior especially with the $7,500 US tax credit. It comes with the Air Suspension as standard ($1000 option on the 40i) which results in a very nice ride and you can use it in EV range. The batteries do add weight but lower the CG overall and results in very low body roll and a dynamic response that is very impressive for its massive weight. you only have to move the shifter left to use the shifter knob to manually shift.. But if just press the the paddle during normal driving it will automatically manually shift. It will also automatically change back to auto mode as well which is my opinion is an ideal setup.

Most important addition for 2021 is that it’s now a mild hybrid. 48v. It’s awesome. Just picked it up. Makes a huge difference. Surprised you didn’t mention it.
@@raybutts9133 I dont know what this means. The 48v battery is recharged with braking and wheel spin. You can see it charging or assisting the engine in acceleration in the energy flow window

This is why I use a trickle charger occasionally. The MILD HYBRID which the 2021 BMW X5 4.0 has (not the 2019 or 2020 model) is a different subject. Can I please ask your opinion? I'm debating between 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class AMG E 43 4MATIC and the 2021 BMW X5 xDrive40i. I live in Toronto, so some winters we get a lot of snow. Usually melts within a few days, but sometimes we get really dumped on. If I need to drive it in deep snow, do you think the BMW SUV would handle it better? I would much rather buy the Mercedes for comfort and luxury etc., but I'm not sure if a sedan is good enough for days with deeper snow. I appreciate any advice : )
